Flexibility in kickboxing

Common Questions and Answers about Flexibility in kickboxing

flexibility

Avatar m tn The problem with too much muscle for you is, kickboxing depends on great flexibility, and huge muscles can get in the way of that. Otherwise, you'd just get fat, which won't help you do anything but get slower, unless you want to be an offensive lineman. That's why so many athletes take steroids -- to turn the excess food into muscle.
684175 tn?1295477838 Kickboxing? Sounds advanced, you go! I consider each 5 lb increment to be really exciting. Good luck breaching the 170's, looks like you'll get there soon!
Avatar m tn I still suffer from excruciating cramp in my feet. Over the last 2 years I have built up the muscles in my feet and have increased flexibility with daily stretches and exercises but still suffer from painful cramp in my arches and toes. It seems to occur when my toes are pointed for long periods of time as I tend to tense my feet quite hard.
Avatar m tn I have flexibility issues in almost all of my joints (Knees, elbow, wrist, ankle). Coincidentally, all the joints in the right side of my body are worse. I cannot squat as the back of my feet cannot touch my butt, my hand cannot touch my shoulder, cannot do pushup as wrist will hurt a lot. I have done xrays but doctor said my xrays are fine. Went through physiotherapy but joints flexibility does not improve no matter how much i stretched.
Avatar n tn It tests your physical endurance for sure. Basically you do extreme flexibility and strength poses in a blaring hot room that is hotter than a sauna. Supposedly really healthy for you. But people who cannot endure it physically end up puking sometimes. Also, always do some cardio with strength training. Are you in any sports? Could be could to balance it out. You need to learn the dangers of dehydration. If you work out a lot, you can't just drink plain water.
Avatar f tn I'm 28 years old, currently very active at the gym (kickboxing) and watching my diet. I've been having constant muscle twitching under my left knee towards my shin for about two weeks now. It's a sharp twitch, but with no pain. I can feel the twitch, but you can't see it. It happens when I walk, put force on my left leg or move it a certain way. There is no tingling or numbing, just the constant snapping twitch when active.
Avatar f tn For the past few months I have been wearing my heart rate monitor while taking kickboxing, boot camp classes etc, and my heart rate elevates quickly (up to 205 during kickboxing). Anyway I went to see the cardiologist and today I was told that I had 2 leaky valves while they were doing my echo, then during my stress test my heart rate got up to 170 at 6 minutes so they took me off and did a follow up echo.
Avatar f tn last week I was relic hunting and i had a little bit of annoyong pain, like menstrual and it got worse in my right side and in my back. I just thought I pulled something, went home and put feet up. Avatar n tn My 80 year old mother had TKR surgery last week. She says when she stands or sits for any length of time, her foot hurts and she must lay down to relieve the pain. The doctor said this is typical because of blood rushing to the foot and recommended putting the support sock on. Has anyone else experienced this? Everyone is impressed with her flexibility and she's doing her exercises regularly but this pain has really gotten her concerned and regrets getting the surgery.
Avatar m tn With or without an operation, you are going to have to rethink about the type of sports that you can take part in. Kickboxing in my mind, would definitely be off limits, unless you want to risk damaging your neck again. Soccer is a pretty physical sport too. You should talk with your doctor or physiotherapist to give you guidance on what types of sport will not further damage your neck and the types of sports to avoid. Best wishes.
Avatar n tn If you are healthy and just overweight, start with your diet. You need to eat clean and in smaller portions but leave enough room for splurging a small bit everyday and then a big/better treat once a week so you don't feel deprived. The key is a calorie deficit. For exercises, I recommend Zumba or kickboxing, personally, because it makes you feel like you are doing something to workout and learn something for day to day life (Zumba, dancing; Kickboxing, self defense).
Avatar m tn However, if I lift weights for 40 mins or so, I feel OK during the workout, but get a really tight pressure in my chest later in the day and my oxygen saturation seems to drop in the evening. Interestingly, my heart rate is much higher when boxing (170-180bpm) as opposed to weight lifting (120-140 bpm). I am also extremely focused on proper breathing when weightlifting to avoid really high blood pressure.
Avatar m tn There was no need for any chemo or radiation since the tumor was well encapsulated. He engaged in all follow up tests and recent routine tests were all normal except his abdominal CT Scan showed some swelling in his bladder lining. All urine tests were normal - no signs of blood or infection...no sense of urgency to urinate or anything else unusual.
Avatar n tn I was going to have the same done to her (she asked to have it done) before it got too bad. However, I enrolled her in muay thai kickboxing and jui jitsu classes, and for some reason all of the sudden her nosebleeds stopped. I don't know if it is because of the extra exercise or what, but it has been months and no nosebleeds. I figured it is worth mentioning. The cauterization works however. I never get nosebleeds now.
Avatar f tn I feel the same way. I can often see big bulges in my belly kicks at just 23 weeks. If he gets much stronger, I think he will karate kick right through my skin!
Avatar m tn Hi Brad, I agree with nickppatel re the leg activity in water polo. I played water polo for 6 years in my late teens to early twenties (then joined the military) and I have a full understanding on the amount of leg work required just to play water polo, let alone being the goalie.
Avatar f tn I felt tiny flutters at about 16 weeks a few times, then nothing until about 21-22 weeks. Those weeks in between I was really nervous, but now I wish she wouldn't kick and wiggle quite so much haha.
Avatar f tn Hi 32 weeks and getting shocks in my cervix and also when I walk it's like I get vibrating in my cervix like my plug is going to give way. It's hard to discrimination but there's alot of pressure. This is my 6th child and I've never experienced this with the other pregnancys. I've also got low lying placenta this time that I haven't had with others.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am 18 and I have been doing contact sports for an year now (kickboxing, karate and MMA). I have recently heard from a relative who once worked in the eye care industry that I am not allowed to do such a sport (or anything that requires you to receive blows to the head) because i have a -4 dioptry. Is that true?
Avatar f tn I do not recall any with stage II either. I was dx at stage IV in Nov 05 and am doing fine. Maybe if there are any they will tell us how they are.
360318 tn?1340393363 Thanks for the advice. I am currently doing kickboxing, zumba and belly dancing. In the belly dancing and kickboxing we do crunches and push ups and jumping jacks and jogging as well. Its our warm up. But situps and pushups a day will probably help. I already eat mostly whole grain breads and pastas....I love brown rice but my husband hates it. So i have to try to figure out a way to get him on board. I already eat lean meats...i prefer them. I guess Im on the right track....
Avatar f tn Yes every time I'm in the grocery store. I swear I just made an old man **** his pants when I screamed in pain from my baby kickboxing down there and I'm 37 weeks. It's so random too but I think you should be able to hold off if you can take it easy the next few weeks.
