Avatar m tn Pilates helps in developing a strong core in improving co-ordination and balance. It helps to build flexibility, muscle strength and helps to build up endurance in the legs, abdominals, arms, hips and back. The exercises concentrate on spinal and pelvic alignment and breathing that helps in strengthening the body's centre. The exercises start off gently and the intensity increases as the body core strengthens. There is lots of information on Pilates on the web. Best wishes.
Avatar f tn Losing as few pounds can cut the risk of developing knee osteoarthritis by 50% for some women. Although OA typically affects the knees, your hips, hands, lower back, and neck may also be affected. Always ask your doctor before doing any exercise! Warming up with gentle stretching can help get your body ready for your workout. Gentle stretches such as side bends, shoulder shrugs, arm circles, overhead stretches, and bending to reach (but not touch) your toes are all good warm-up exercises.
Avatar f tn Hips and glute med ( I have been working on hip flexibility, glute max strength and rolling hips, glutes, quads and IT band in hopes of helping my knees. As well pain in left shoulder (my guess is this is unrelated) PAIN HISTORY: After not being very active growing up, I suddenly became very active 3 years ago when I moved to Asia. I walked to work every day and often did 5-20km a day walking around the city.
Avatar n tn I was wondering if it might be time for me to think about getting my hips examined my an orthopedist and if you have any suggestions about what I should ask and if I need to check for beginning signs of osteoarthritis?
Avatar f tn One study performed at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill showed that subjects who performed dynamic warm-ups had higher performance in the vertical jump test than those who just did standard stretching. Dynamic flexibility, which is moving your muscles and joints within your full range of motion repetitively, should be performed before weightlifting because it stimulates higher neural activity and increases tissue elasticity.
Avatar f tn I'm normally very active and have been for my entire life, I do heavy weight lifting and also have some injuries (ruptured discs in lower back, tailbone pain, and obvious anterior pelvic tilt). All of my muscles are very stiff and inflexible and are very tight and sore deep in the muscle. I sometimes feel spasms all over in my muscles.

Avatar n tn Perform yoga or stretches after each exercise session to improve your flexibility and reduce your risk of soreness and injuries. Stretching helps to elongate your muscles to give your legs a leaner appearance. No excess sodium and improve your diet to reduce water retention. Your knees and other areas appear larger when you carry excess water. Cut out processed meat, table salt, salty snack foods, canned foods and most frozen dinners.
Avatar f tn Hamstring stretch can help maintain flexibility in your hamstrings as well as reduce any pain that may occur as the result of high hamstring tendinopathy. Position your affected leg on a couch or bench fully extended. Your heel should be flat on the bench with your toes facing the ceiling. Sit straight up. Allow your unaffected leg to hang over the edge of the bench with your foot touching the ground. Slowly lean forward at your waist while maintaining a straight back. Reach for your toes.
Avatar n tn Exercises for the front of your legs like wall squats, you stand with your back against the wall, then bend your knees to lower your hips until your thighs are near parallel with the floor. Maintain your wall squat for five to 10 seconds and then release. Include exercises for the back of your legs such as a leg curl. Stand facing a chair and then bend your knee to lift your foot behind your body and hold it still for three to five seconds. Lift and lower each foot eight to 10 times.
Avatar f tn I do my own chores and enjoy not being crippled anymore. I have skin pain on my buttocks, hips, and outer thighs, but it will vanish in time. Also, without my brace, the top of my back fatigues easily. I only have to wear it for 3 more weeks. Other than that, I know this surgery was the one I have waited for and needed all my life. I was so deformed! On this post, I can only add one photo, so I will show you the new spine. They fused everything from T10 to my ilium (bottom of hips.
Avatar f tn t go deep into cow pose, stay shallow. Focus on cat pose with hips and back arched. Rolling hips slowly around like a hula hoop is good. Wide squats are good for flexibility and leg and glute strength, but sometimes aggrivate my sciatic. Swinging your arms as they dangle at your sides, in a circle, stretches your back and whole middle body. Rolling ankles helps blood flow and soreness.
Avatar n tn Not much to be done for it in terms of changing the condition, but physical therapy can help improve strength and flexibility in other areas of the spine/hips and to treat acute flare-ups if and when they occur.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm a 25 year old female, 5'5 and 112 lbs. I have been experiencing very intense jolting, shooting pains in random places throughout my body on both sides, usually from the waist down. I have no idea what it is, but I do know that I also have SI joint pain, in which I experience the same jolting pains. These pains, however, are followed by much milder sensitivity and pain that lasts a long period of time, and often shoots pain on each down-step.
Avatar m tn My pain started about 3-4 months ago with mild hamstring pain in both legs. It was a dull sometime shooting pain. I had very little flexibility in my hamstrings until I stretched them. The pain has become more extreme and is now hurting in my lower legs (shin splints and ankle), hips, butt, hamstrings etc. The pain was in both legs but now is 90% in my right leg. Its at its worst in the am when I wake up and pretty much never feels 100% even after NSAIDs.

1002834 tn?1250142226 ll have a pain way up inside of me behind the pubic bone area and between the hips in the middle of my body. I seem to waddle more like a duck when I walk also. I went to an orthopedic and got tested for pubis osteitis but the doctor said I did not have it and no futher osteo tests were recommended. When I read about the symptoms of pubis osteoitis it seemed to describe the symptoms I was having. Anybody have any symptoms like this or suggestions?
5692606 tn?1372491703 I was diagnosed with Osteo Arthritis and Degenerative Lumbar Spine Disease some 10 - 12 years ago which affects mostly my back, hips and shoulders but also my knees and neck and as time has gone by the pain has become increasingly worse. Recently an x-ray to my lumbar spine revealed this: Minor reduction of the L1 and L2 on the behalf of the superior endplates anteriorly. Presence of transitional lumbar vertebra (L6). Presence of marginal osteophytes. Narrowing of the disc space.
647391 tn?1275016633 Dr. Lee has performed both hips and left knee replacements on myself. Another doctor performed my right knee replacement before I met Dr. Robert Lee. The right knee replacement was a disaster. The knee will not straighten or bend. All surgeries that Dr.Robert Lee completed for me was a success. At my 6 week checkup post surgery, I remember the smile on his face when I said "no problems".
Avatar m tn I have flexibility issues in almost all of my joints (Knees, elbow, wrist, ankle). Coincidentally, all the joints in the right side of my body are worse. I cannot squat as the back of my feet cannot touch my butt, my hand cannot touch my shoulder, cannot do pushup as wrist will hurt a lot. I have done xrays but doctor said my xrays are fine. Went through physiotherapy but joints flexibility does not improve no matter how much i stretched.
Avatar m tn Usually the main predictors of aortic dissection are family history, aortic size, and aortic flexibility. For someone of your aortic size, I would take it easy. Try the ARB approach with a max or ultra-max high dosage (as long as your doctor lets you) and see if that reduces aortic size and aortic flexibility (the "pulse pressure" is one way to estimate the flexibility - Google it). If so, then perhaps you can talk to your doctor about athletics.
Avatar f tn Okay mommas! Did your hips spread early? What was the gender of baby?? My husband told his friend that the reason he thinks I'm having a boy is because my a s s has spread to the width of a cattle gate. :( but I won't know sex for anothe 4 weeks....
9532182 tn?1421991391 I am 22weeks and 5 days. My hips are really bothering me, i switch sides every 10-20 minutes, ive used a pillow between my legs, that doesnt work for me. When im standing they hurt even more. Ive tried to sleep on my back but they still tend to hurt. I dont know what to do at this moment.
Avatar n tn m not huge with this baby, depending on what I wear I can still pass as not pregnant. But regardless My hips feel like they are on fire. I've tried pregnancy pillows, pillows between my legs, heating pad. Nothing relieves my pain! I constantly roll over to give one side a break while the other suffers. Is there anyone out there who has found something else that worked for them?? Can't wait until I can sleep on my stomach again.
