Avatar f tn Then he had me do a couple sets of lunges, again it was hard but not overly painful. A couple minutes afterwards, though, my thigh muscles cramped up like crazy. My legs also felt super weird going down a flight of stairs (kind of felt like my thigh muscles didn't even exist). Today, the next day, I'm in a LOT of pain when I go down stairs or go to sit down. Is this a normal muscular response to this?

Avatar f tn To stretch or foam roll begin with warm muscles. Stretch all the muscles that work at your various joints, not just the ones that feel tight. An example, if you stretch your hamstrings, make sure to also stretch your quadriceps and gluteal muscles, and your inner and outer thighs. Stretching is most effective when you hold your muscle at its longest length for 15 seconds to one minute or longer. Relax into your stretch, and do not bounce.
192055 tn?1263555537 t want to use bolts since it would make it a fixed joint (there is suppose to be a little play) so I would lose some flexibility. Well my doc now said that he thinks that my neck muscle could be too tight which is causing my pain that I am having. I go back to the doctor tomorrow to see if I need a second surgery. If I do need one, I would not mind bolts, I already lost some flexibility and it won't strain any muscles. Has anyone had any surgeries like this? Should I do the second surgery?

I have had Eds symptoms for over 12 years which I investigated neurologically instead of from a rheumatology. So all my tests always came back normal. Avatar m tn It is important to do warm up exercises, before doing the "hard exercises". The reason for this is to soften and loosen up muscles and tendons. If you start to do normal exercises before "warming up" (exercise bike, and stretches), you could end up damaging and tearing muscles and tendons, which you do not want. Same for singing. It is important to do "warm up" exercises to gently loosen up the vocal chords before starting to sing using the full vocal range.
Avatar f tn One study performed at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill showed that subjects who performed dynamic warm-ups had higher performance in the vertical jump test than those who just did standard stretching. Dynamic flexibility, which is moving your muscles and joints within your full range of motion repetitively, should be performed before weightlifting because it stimulates higher neural activity and increases tissue elasticity.

Avatar m tn I have been sore right around both of my gluteus Maximus muscles since December. The muscle is very tight and seems to be restricting the movement of my lower lumbar. It's uncomfortable to sit even for short periods of time as there is a dull pain from my glutes down the back of my legs. I have been to a spinal PT and I temporarily felt better but not much. He focused only on my spine and said my movement was very limited for a 27 year old.

Avatar n tn s advice, you need to be in some sort of physical therapy to strenghten and improve flexibility of muscles related to your spine. Avatar f tn the main reason for wanting to go back is because the muscle tension in my back is caused by the lack of flexibility in them. since i can't hunch or move my back around, my muscles tense up incredibly and i have a severe amount of pain. and i see the only solution is to bring back the natural flexibility of the spine, because this unnatural solution of surgery clearly hasn't been working.
