Common Questions and Answers about Flexibility exercises rowing

flexibility

Avatar m tn They recommend using a rowing type exercise or one of those low slung type bikes and mixing in resistance exercises. The main idea is to do these sitting not standing. As I remember they mention aerobics but since my heart rate doesn't rise (PAF) I haven't figured out how I would do that. I also am hesitant to try rowing as I have had thoracic outlet syndrome and rowing would make that worse. I like the idea of gentle stretching of yoga...
Avatar n tn Any exercise like rowing or situps will increase intra abdominal pressure. When you want to start these exercises, you should take a word of advice from your surgeon. I believe you will be able to reach your previous level slowly and steadily over few months.
Avatar f tn I would like either and elliptical or a water rowing machine. I have researched both and tested out ellipticals. Rowing machines are a little harder to find. I know an elliptical will be good for cardio but will it also help build muscle? It seems a rowing machine would do both and be a better workout because of that but I'm afraid a rowing machine would be harder to use with the "rhythm" it seems you need to learn in order to use them properly.
Avatar f tn s say my water breaks in March.
Avatar n tn Stretching the front and back or your leg to increase the flexibility in your knee. Perform stretching exercises at the end of your workout when your muscles are warm. Stretch the front of your leg in a standing position by bending your knee and raising your foot up toward your backside. Grasp the ankle with your hand to enhance the stretch. Stretch the back of your legs in a seated position with your legs extended on the floor. Fold forward over your straight legs to stretch your hamstrings.
Avatar f tn That muscle is not a major muscle unless you are on a rowing team. I know several women who have had some issue swimming. Arms straight out from your sides rotating in circles is the muscle was used. From a trusted reconstruction site, women interested in extreme competitive sports such as mountain climbing, skiing, and swimming would not be good candidates for this surgery. I would say if you haven't noticed much limitation in the last 4 years there probably won't be much now.
Avatar m tn Can I do any kind of (light) weight training or use a rowing machine after healing up?
Avatar f tn I know walking is a good exercise, and this might be an obvious answer to the question but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of exercises I could do to maintain my weight. Im paranoid if i gain too much weight my baby will be too big and cause difficulties during labor which terrifies me..Im wanting to avoid a c section so bad!
Avatar f tn I am doing some walking, pelvic tilts and pelvic floor exercises now. Can you share some of yours?
1033202 tn?1252505429 They were recently confirmed via heart monitoring to be supraventricular tachycardia. I only get SVT when I am rowing. Other aerobic exercises do not produce is, such as bicycling, etc. My heart rate gets up to 223 bpm during these episodes. My doctor wants to do an ablation. My question is, shouldn't more conservative measures be done first? I also have moderate mitral regurgitation. Thanks!!
20893158 tn?1579358911 Well, because you don't have to run to be healthy, there isn't an answer to your question. All forms of movement are good and it's movement that provides the benefit, not one particular form of it. Moving fast, as with running, does give benefits moving more slowly, as with walking, don't, such as moving toxins and nutrients through your body and out -- the more you sweat, the more you excrete, etc.
Avatar m tn Over the last 2 years I have built up the muscles in my feet and have increased flexibility with daily stretches and exercises but still suffer from painful cramp in my arches and toes. It seems to occur when my toes are pointed for long periods of time as I tend to tense my feet quite hard.
Avatar m tn Hi, I m 16 and I rowing 3 time a week plus doing sport at home. Im 6 ft toll and only 137.5lbs. I would like to gain weight and that it can go in muscles but it s hard when we go to school and don t have time/money to eat well. If somone have a solution it would be really nice.
Avatar m tn There are many exercises you can even do without equipment. Push ups, superman's (back extension), and even lunges as I would not leave out your lower body, then get maybe the 2-5kg weights and do tricep press, bicep curl, lateral rais (shoulders) and many more.
Avatar m tn I have been sore right around both of my gluteus Maximus muscles since December. The muscle is very tight and seems to be restricting the movement of my lower lumbar. It's uncomfortable to sit even for short periods of time as there is a dull pain from my glutes down the back of my legs. I have been to a spinal PT and I temporarily felt better but not much. He focused only on my spine and said my movement was very limited for a 27 year old.
Avatar f tn I have a problem with chronic pain in my left shin and have had bouts with plantar fastitis. Suddenly by shoe inserts to support my high arches feel awful. What are the right exercises and what else can I do?
Avatar n tn I have bought a rowing machine as i have heard its the best machine for losing weight & toning becasue you are using all your body. What is the most efficient way to use a rowing machine?
Avatar n tn Does anyone know of gentle exercises to get my stamina up? I have bad knees, and rheumatoid arthritis in my back so I'm not super flexible. Want to get extra weight off to help improve health...
Avatar f tn Check the area of the gym that features a number of cardio machines. These machines often include a treadmill, elliptical trainer, rowing machine and stationary bicycle. A basic exercise for beginners is walking on the treadmill. Consult the machine's instructions and begin to walk at a slow pace. Walking on the machine's belt feels different than walking on solid ground, so keep your pace slow until you're comfortable with the feeling.
Avatar n tn I have been told to keep away from high impact activities such as running and was wondering whether rowing would come in to the category of a high impact activity? Should I keep away from rowing whilst I receive physiotherapy to help with the knee pain?
Avatar m tn ve been diligent with my physical therapy and I have full flexibility in the leg. I can bend the leg at the knee and I can fully extend it. I can put weight on the leg and the doctor no longer requires me to wear the surgical boot. I still need to use a cane or crutches to get around. How long does it take for the tibia fracture to fully heal, and is there anything I can do to quicken the healing process on my own other than exercises and physical therapy? Thank you.
15502615 tn?1440995053 Your doctor may recommend that you meet with a physical therapist to provide you with specific exercises designed for your needs. Range-of-motion and stretching exercises can help maintain flexibility in your joints and preserve good posture. Proper sleep and walking positions and abdominal and back exercises can help maintain your upright posture. Most people with ankylosing spondylitis don't need surgery.
