Avatar m tn I tried eliptical after two weeks off and at the end of the work week I was back to severe pain. I am working on strengthening my glutes and hip abductors. Strangely enough ice seems to make it immediately worse. So my cardio has to stop if I am going to keep my job. I have good insurance but good doctors often seem to fall short of helping me with several problems. Ibam a 40 year old male. I have not smoked in 5 years. I seldom drink. I weigh 178 and am 5'9".
7980557 tn?1395954094 Hello I quit dance when I was about nine and I recently started doing it again. I also started stretching to improve my flexibility. I've improved a lot and can now do the splits however I recently strained my right leg muscles, especially in the thigh. It's not getting any better and I am getting stiffer and less flexible as it is too painful to stretch. Is there any way I could stretch again soon and make the muscle loosen again?
Avatar m tn I play street hockey and while running during a game about 2 weeks ago, I landed a bit awkwardly on my right foot. I felt like I had jammed or very slightly hyperextended my knee. The pain was moderate and after a day or so it was all but gone. I have suffered no 'real' injury from this, as I am able to walk, run, work out, etc. with no issues or loss of performance. However, since the event I've noticed that my knee aches after I play hockey.
Avatar f tn I have a friend who is a physical therapist and said the key is following through with the knee exercises daily the first year and as needed weekly from then on but remember to ice pack the knee following exercise. I am still unable to work at a job that requires walking or standing. I was a real estate agent and had to quit after 11 years. I am worried that is may have come loose.
Avatar n tn has anyone ever heard of a child/person's asthma/allergies acting up after spending time on the ice? not sure if it's the zamboni's gas or gas from the artificial ice. my son has played hockey for 8 winters.... not sure if it's that or the mold in the rink.
Avatar n tn s a stability or strength issue in that wrist). My main question is what kind of exercises should I do to fix this pain? Would it be doing reps of putting the wrist in flexion with resistance or extension with resistance? Or both perhaps? I also noticed ulnar deviation is weak on that wrist.. could that be linked to pain in push ups or is that unlikely? Thanks for any advice!
181575 tn?1250198786 After that embarrassment of the USA mens and womens curling finish, coupled with the crushing lose by our ice hockey team, I considering jumping on the bandwagon and move to Canada. Double last place for USA curling...sheesh.
Avatar f tn s say my water breaks in March.
Avatar f tn It started 3 days ago really low and got so severe I could not stand. It started in an ice hockey game and got progressively worse. The pain has now spread all on the left side reaching up to my ribcage. Sometimes it's a severe stabbing pain or throbbing. I had blood work done and an abdominal ultrasound which all came back normal. I've been cleared to play ice hockey and take a lot of ibuprofen but it really feels like something is just not right.
Avatar n tn The PT will then prescribe you a specific set of exercises, flexibility and strengthening for your condition. Other modalities that can be helpful to reduce your pain might be heat, ice, ultrasound, electrical stimulation and soft tissue work. Lumbar traction is also helpful in temporarily reducing the compression of the irritated nerves and therefore allowing a decrease in inflammation and pain.
Avatar m tn I have a 12 year old son who was playing AAA hockey and at the top of his game, All star teams, MVP one hockey .....until one day he started having chest pain on the ice. We went to see the cardiologist and after ekg, eco, halter monitor, stress test, genic testing (which came back negitive but does not mean he does not have it) he has something called Catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia CPVT.
Avatar n tn Stretching the front and back or your leg to increase the flexibility in your knee. Perform stretching exercises at the end of your workout when your muscles are warm. Stretch the front of your leg in a standing position by bending your knee and raising your foot up toward your backside. Grasp the ankle with your hand to enhance the stretch. Stretch the back of your legs in a seated position with your legs extended on the floor. Fold forward over your straight legs to stretch your hamstrings.
Avatar f tn My hubby recently took out 2 1/2 year old ice skating for the first time last week and she loved it. He had to drag her off the ice! I stayed on the bench and took a zillion pictures. My question is my mom wants to take me, my sister and our toddlers skating next week to watch the girls. My hubby will not be able to go. Do you think it is ok to skate while pregnant?
Avatar f tn I know walking is a good exercise, and this might be an obvious answer to the question but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of exercises I could do to maintain my weight. Im paranoid if i gain too much weight my baby will be too big and cause difficulties during labor which terrifies me..Im wanting to avoid a c section so bad!
Avatar m tn few days ago me and my son went to play ice-hockey together. other adult player felt down on ice and broke his nose (actually a friend of mine who is quite promiscuous i have to say, so this is why i am thinking about it over and over). the nose bled quite a lot, leaving blood on bench and ice, the doctor helped him and so i dont think i did directly touch him, but i and my son - we were standing right besides him.
Avatar f tn ve now had two arthroscopic labral repairs with suture anchors placed the past two Decembers. My first one went well for just under a year until it dislocated playing hockey. I agreed to a second one and rehab went well; I haven't had anything major since but I did notice it partially popped in and out (almost felt as though it got caught on something) while overhead stretching. That was back in March. I was just thankful it didn't completely dislocate.
Avatar m tn I suffered a traumatic hip subluxation in a hockey game 20 years ago. After many years of being unable to get imagery, I finally had an MRI and I have 2 labral tears with cysts. I laid off hockey for 18 months due to Covid and did mostly cycling, hiking and swimming. I had very good pain levels and felt almost normal. Well, hockey fired up and after the first game back I was nearly crippled the next day.
20825786 tn?1525128821 I'm taking 12.5 mg Coreg 2xs a day after someone with a cold stethoscope found what appears to be a 4.3 ascending aortic aneurysm developing, I'm still playing ice hockey 2-3 times a week....and although my docs have said "Go skate your heart out and stop freaking my boy"...I'm STILL a bit unnerved about skating my butt off during shift after shift...and having my heart beating no faster than if I was reading a very dull book. Is my concern warranted?
Avatar m tn Over the last 2 years I have built up the muscles in my feet and have increased flexibility with daily stretches and exercises but still suffer from painful cramp in my arches and toes. It seems to occur when my toes are pointed for long periods of time as I tend to tense my feet quite hard.
6387282 tn?1381286222 ) Hockey is the one thing I can forget everything and just react for a while. So, it was awesome for my mind and I sweated like a hooker in church. (or a church lady in a whorehouse, whichever way you want to look at it is cool with me). After hockey my back was freaking out. I was a little sad because I facetimed my boys and they look like they miss daddy. Anyhoo, I’m home now, glad to have day 9 under my belt.
Avatar m tn I have been sore right around both of my gluteus Maximus muscles since December. The muscle is very tight and seems to be restricting the movement of my lower lumbar. It's uncomfortable to sit even for short periods of time as there is a dull pain from my glutes down the back of my legs. I have been to a spinal PT and I temporarily felt better but not much. He focused only on my spine and said my movement was very limited for a 27 year old.
Avatar f tn I have a problem with chronic pain in my left shin and have had bouts with plantar fastitis. Suddenly by shoe inserts to support my high arches feel awful. What are the right exercises and what else can I do?
Avatar m tn I play ice hockey, and over the last 5 years I have had recurring knee issues with my right knee. My right knee clicks and pops a lot when I walk. Now, tha doesn't generally cause pain, but any time this problem does occur, it is accompanied by related issues with it. For example, if I try to get on my knees (happens a lot in hockey) I have a lot of trouble and pain getting up off my right knee. I feel like the shin moves inward.
Avatar f tn I recently returned to playing Junior hockey but every time I step on the ice my heart rate goes up to around 170-190 sometimes even up to 200 and it just pulsates throughout my body and especially hard in my chest and today it began feeling really weak which spread to my legs and arms if that makes any sense.. My GP put it down as anxiety and the cardio assured me it was not cardiac related. Does anybody know if this is just severe anxiety or if some other underlying condition is causing this?
Avatar n tn He plays a lot of sports but his true love is hockey. He plays on a Rep team that is on the ice 4-6 times a week. I would love to hear from someone who has type 1 themselves or has a child with type 1 that plays a lot of hockey as it seems like a constant struggle to keep his blood sugars and engery levels at a consistant rate. Any info on the timing and make up of pre game/practice meals and or nutritional info would be much appreciated.
