Common Questions and Answers about Flexibility exercises hamstring

flexibility

Avatar m tn I have been sore right around both of my gluteus Maximus muscles since December. The muscle is very tight and seems to be restricting the movement of my lower lumbar. It's uncomfortable to sit even for short periods of time as there is a dull pain from my glutes down the back of my legs. I have been to a spinal PT and I temporarily felt better but not much. He focused only on my spine and said my movement was very limited for a 27 year old.
Avatar f tn Hurt my hamstring 5 months ago ( had excruciating pain and severe bruising). have gone to physical therapy and have regained all my flexibility and have no acute pain anymore. My frustration is still not being able to run. I get almost immediate hamstring area tightness and have burning sensation and discomfort in my ankle/foot area also. the physical therapist thinks it is a compensatory reaction because I am flexing my foot too much to try and bring that weaker leg thru when running.
Avatar f tn Gentle stretches such as side bends, shoulder shrugs, arm circles, overhead stretches, and bending to reach (but not touch) your toes are all good warm-up exercises. Do three to five repetitions of each. If you are swimming or walking, you can also warm up with a slower swim or walk. If you have OA in your knees or hips, you want to avoid any jolting exercise like jogging that causes your feet to pound the ground.

Avatar n tn Stretching the front and back or your leg to increase the flexibility in your knee. Perform stretching exercises at the end of your workout when your muscles are warm. Stretch the front of your leg in a standing position by bending your knee and raising your foot up toward your backside. Grasp the ankle with your hand to enhance the stretch. Stretch the back of your legs in a seated position with your legs extended on the floor. Fold forward over your straight legs to stretch your hamstrings.
Avatar f tn I know walking is a good exercise, and this might be an obvious answer to the question but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of exercises I could do to maintain my weight. Avatar n tn Knee sprains are no fun! I sprained my knee my senior year of high school, and I had to sit out of volleyball (I played travel year round), so I know what you're feeling! I'm now almost a senior in college and I have no problems anymore. ANYWAY I am ALSO an Athletic Training major. Depending on the grade of sprain you have, it could take a few weeks to heal. Did any of the doctors you saw give you any strengthening exercises?
Avatar m tn About a year ago, I tore my hamstring in two places. The more severe tear was above the back of my right knee. I had PT on it. In therapy, and as of today, I continue to have what feels like a pocket, or snack bar size of very soft tissue over the former tear. It seems to not be as prevalent when I stand, but as soon as I sit, it's there, and does not go away. Some days it feels larger (almost like a baseball!), some days, not so much.
Avatar m tn You just started running! First do you stretch before and after your run? You should also use a foam roller after running or after doing any exercise routine. Do you have proper running shoes? If the pain in your thigh is in the upper back of the thigh it could be a strained hamstring. If it's on the inside of the upper thigh it could be a groin pull. You could also have a strained or torn adductor muscles. could also be your quadriceps. It all depends on the location.
Avatar m tn Before the back injury I had my left hamstring injured for about half a year. I had two massages for my hamstring and it was okay, I was okay for a week and then my back injury occured. I had about 5-7 massages for my back, my back was okay for a week and then it started hurting again after every massage. Sometimes when stretching my left and sometimes my right hamstring would also hurt. I don't know what to do. I'm afraid of spending more money for massages.
Avatar m tn I have been doing walking, stationary bike, and some back/hip exercises. I even applied heat (thinking it was a back issue) and ice. I'm thinking of sticking to ice at the area (now that I can pinpoint it) and taking some anti-inflammatory medication. Also focusing more on hip exercises, but will still do the back ones as they emphasize the hamstring/hip and other areas. I know this is very vague information. But does this sound like arthritis?
Avatar m tn Over the last 2 years I have built up the muscles in my feet and have increased flexibility with daily stretches and exercises but still suffer from painful cramp in my arches and toes. It seems to occur when my toes are pointed for long periods of time as I tend to tense my feet quite hard.
Avatar m tn i am a rugby player and have been playin rugby for the last 6 years....2 years ago i suffered a hamstring injury and treated it with usual 'rice' treatment but meanwhile played the season too...i have since kept on playing and i have strapped my thigh with 'dynoplast' (a special form of plaster meant to strap injured parts of body)....i have gone for physioteraphy treatment and have met 5 specialist doctors of orthopedics, physoterapists and sport doctors.
Avatar m tn The bursa may show inflammation without any cause or in association with hamstring tendinitis or inflammation of tendon of hamstring. The pain increases on stretching. Myofascial pain or trigger points in the Gluteus medius muscle and Piriformis muscles of the buttock can cause pain in the buttock area which may radiate to thighs. Stretching the muscle increases the pain.
6111917 tn?1379249869 For a quick fix I would do some squats then lay down for a bit and would always wake up feeling some relief. A trainer actually recommended it for me. Apparently hamstring exercises relieve back aches.
Avatar f tn I have a problem with chronic pain in my left shin and have had bouts with plantar fastitis. Suddenly by shoe inserts to support my high arches feel awful. What are the right exercises and what else can I do?
Avatar m tn Foam rolling and wearing a knee sleeve helps me a lot when lifting heavy weights, as it makes me feel almost no pain even when doing, for example, squats or similar exercises. In the last week or so, I noticed that my left knee got a bit swollen. It feels tender to touch, as if it's filled with a liquid. (This is not the first time that this has happened) I feel no pain in the knee however, and I have full range of motion.
Avatar n tn Does anyone know of gentle exercises to get my stamina up? I have bad knees, and rheumatoid arthritis in my back so I'm not super flexible. Want to get extra weight off to help improve health...
Avatar m tn Did you discuss your hamstring problem with your doctor? You would need to be given the correct type of exercises to do to help your hamstring problem. A pain or ache that goes on or is intermittent for a long time is called chronic, which means long lasting. When you say "it's like an urge", do you mean an urge to go to urinate?
