Avatar n tn Good conditioning exercises for people with rheumatoid arthritis include low-impact activities like walking, swimming, bicycling, or using an elliptical machine. Any of these will get your heart pumping. you should try to do 20 to 30 minutes of low-impact conditioning exercise on as many days as you feel you can. More is better, but any amount is better than none at all! Don't do any Jogging, especially on paved roads and Heavy weight lifting!!
20893158 tn?1579358911 Well, because you don't have to run to be healthy, there isn't an answer to your question. All forms of movement are good and it's movement that provides the benefit, not one particular form of it. Moving fast, as with running, does give benefits moving more slowly, as with walking, don't, such as moving toxins and nutrients through your body and out -- the more you sweat, the more you excrete, etc.
Avatar f tn I think exercise should be good....some exercises make me uneasy, with the safety of my baby. But walking is really low impact and there are soo many articles thst discuss the benefits.

Avatar f tn I walk lol okay its more of a limping hobble to stretch, whilst silently screaming it out but there is nothing i can do about it, except be aware of the angle of my legs at rest and try to straighten and stretch. My right knee is the main culprit but it hasn't helped matters with my left leg now being my bad leg, so sometimes i fold like a pack of cards :D Food for thought............
Avatar m tn Usually the main predictors of aortic dissection are family history, aortic size, and aortic flexibility. For someone of your aortic size, I would take it easy. Try the ARB approach with a max or ultra-max high dosage (as long as your doctor lets you) and see if that reduces aortic size and aortic flexibility (the "pulse pressure" is one way to estimate the flexibility - Google it). If so, then perhaps you can talk to your doctor about athletics.
Avatar f tn There is no doubt that power walking benefits you. It is a good form of exercise. It will help with your blood circulation and will help keep the extra weight away. If you can add more cardio to your routine, that would be even better.
Avatar f tn I had a partial knee replacement last May, I still have pain soreness at the implant site specifically and STIFFNESS! It is difficult to do any walking around without it swelling for 2-3 days sometime longer. I have a friend who is a physical therapist and said the key is following through with the knee exercises daily the first year and as needed weekly from then on but remember to ice pack the knee following exercise. I am still unable to work at a job that requires walking or standing.
Avatar m tn I am a distance runner that had a left side inguinal surgery last April. After a two month recovery, I started running again. I've never really run correctly in the past year. Working with a chiropractor, I got a hip flexor malady adjusted; the PT said I needed to work on flexibility. My left leg kind of 'hangs/float' and doesn't extend out normally. I feel it even when I'm walking. The odd part is that I can't really self-correct it with mental striving.
Avatar n tn my friend has been having problems walking and can't run. She has been diagnosed with spina bifida and cerebral palsy and she is only 20 years old. She has been complaining of having trouble walking, and can't run. She has been getting all kinds of tests done and having blood taken and they can't find out what's wrong with her. Is this happening because of her diagnosis? Why can't they give her any answers? Anyone experience anything like this before?
11195379 tn?1427921527 I love walking, if your side starts to hurt its probably cause your walking to fast or started walking to fast, i start out slow and just pick up pace if I'm feeling fine, when im tired i just do slow walks, try to do them every day, and be sure to breath and stay hydrated!
Avatar m tn I have flexibility issues in almost all of my joints (Knees, elbow, wrist, ankle). Coincidentally, all the joints in the right side of my body are worse. I cannot squat as the back of my feet cannot touch my butt, my hand cannot touch my shoulder, cannot do pushup as wrist will hurt a lot. I have done xrays but doctor said my xrays are fine. Went through physiotherapy but joints flexibility does not improve no matter how much i stretched.
Avatar n tn I've been quite sedentary since taking an early retirement several years ago. I'm 53 years old now and trying to get out of a state of being very deconditioned. I've been walking for 20 minutes a day, which is pretty minimal, so I decided to buy a Lifefitness 9500 elliptical trainer. The trainer certainly used some new muscles, my legs were like rubber for the first few days, and I only used it for a few minutes.
Avatar n tn Even the slightest bit of exertion (such as standing up) will cause a slight quickening of the pulse. The amount your pulse quickens depends a lot on your level of physical fitness.
Avatar n tn Perform yoga or stretches after each exercise session to improve your flexibility and reduce your risk of soreness and injuries. Stretching helps to elongate your muscles to give your legs a leaner appearance. No excess sodium and improve your diet to reduce water retention. Your knees and other areas appear larger when you carry excess water. Cut out processed meat, table salt, salty snack foods, canned foods and most frozen dinners.

1469324 tn?1286879335 Plus when I was younger I never would have considered myself flexible, the thought of even trying many of the positions many do with this much flexibility made me think it would hurt, so I never would consider trying. Plans r being formulated for me to see a dr that specializes in EDS and I hope to learn more at that time. Avatar n tn If you are feeding him a low quality food, this may be part of him problem....If what he eats is full of grains, by-products, chemical preservatives, dyes & no real nutrition, you need to adjust to a high quality food...All the grains in most dog foods are very fattening.... Also, you can add fresh veggies to his meals & gradually start cutting back on his food....This will help keep him full w/lower calories.... Be patient & don't give up....

Avatar f tn Labrador retrievers are one of the breeds that are known to have adverse reactions to rimadyl, and sometimes the benefits just do not outweigh the risks in something like this. What you CAN do is to start giving him a glucosamine and chondroitin supplement. These have been proven to be of great help to arthritic dogs with an occasional dose of enteric coated aspirin to help them over the rough spots. Please let us know what your vet says.

Avatar f tn having a orgasm produces something in your body similar to a pill that starts labor. Look it up. Look up the benefits of reaching orgasm while your pregnant. That should help you! Good luck!
Avatar m tn I went to a local DPM and he gave me a cortisone shot and said I needed to wear an orthodic insert in my shoes. Fine, but the blasted thing was like walking on solid concrete. The insert allowed for no flexibility and my feet, and especially that toe, were sore. The shot deadened the pain somewhat, but didn't last very long. Am I looking at a surgical procedure? I dread that possibility, since I hear the recovery time takes forever.
