Avatar n tn Does anyone know of gentle exercises to get my stamina up? I have bad knees, and rheumatoid arthritis in my back so I'm not super flexible. Want to get extra weight off to help improve health...
Avatar m tn Usually the main predictors of aortic dissection are family history, aortic size, and aortic flexibility. For someone of your aortic size, I would take it easy. Try the ARB approach with a max or ultra-max high dosage (as long as your doctor lets you) and see if that reduces aortic size and aortic flexibility (the "pulse pressure" is one way to estimate the flexibility - Google it). If so, then perhaps you can talk to your doctor about athletics.
Avatar f tn my 11 year old daughter has been diabetic for 9 years , she has been going to ballet lessons for a few years now , and her ballet teacher wants her to go onto pointes (ballet shoes with a wood block , to stand on her toes) I'm worried this may damage her feet . has anybody had any experience of this ,or any advice?
Avatar m tn I have flexibility issues in almost all of my joints (Knees, elbow, wrist, ankle). Coincidentally, all the joints in the right side of my body are worse. I cannot squat as the back of my feet cannot touch my butt, my hand cannot touch my shoulder, cannot do pushup as wrist will hurt a lot. I have done xrays but doctor said my xrays are fine. Went through physiotherapy but joints flexibility does not improve no matter how much i stretched.
20893158 tn?1579358911 t very useful, as you need to run long enough and fast enough to get out of breath and then maintain that for a time to get the full benefits of running, and running too much might be harmful. But that leaves that huge middle which is still based on your enjoyment, not necessity.
Avatar f tn My 4 1/2 year old is just now running out of her ballet class saying that she "wants me". She wants to be glued to my side! I am so tired of it. She did so well last year in her ballet class when she was 3 - all year long! and just this year is crying for me to be with her. I need some advice please. I yelled at her all the way home from ballet today and feel so bad about it.
867582 tn?1311627397 WAF - its a wonderful thing to experience in person if possible. Even amateur productions of the Nutcracker hold a special magical charm this time of year. Maybe all that walking on our toes for the neuro is only practice for your return to ballet? happy holidays to you!
Avatar n tn Perform yoga or stretches after each exercise session to improve your flexibility and reduce your risk of soreness and injuries. Stretching helps to elongate your muscles to give your legs a leaner appearance. No excess sodium and improve your diet to reduce water retention. Your knees and other areas appear larger when you carry excess water. Cut out processed meat, table salt, salty snack foods, canned foods and most frozen dinners.
1896537 tn?1381900009 m straight in with a question!!! I just wanted to know what happens to you when you exercise? I do loads of walking (at least an hour a day) with my son in his buggy and I'm fine with that (apart from my vision fogging right over) but I just attempted a ballet dvd and within 10 mins my arm and legs turned to jelly and were literally trembling. Is this because of the MS or am I just unfit?!

1469324 tn?1286879335 Plus when I was younger I never would have considered myself flexible, the thought of even trying many of the positions many do with this much flexibility made me think it would hurt, so I never would consider trying. Plans r being formulated for me to see a dr that specializes in EDS and I hope to learn more at that time. We do have a EDS group here on MedHelp....http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Ehlers-Danlos-Syndrome/show/417?
5274485 tn?1385860167 The doctors for University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics have talked about shoes in relation to Diabetes. Contrary to conventional beliefs, a person does NOT necessarily need to always wear tennis shoes or sneakers. They can wear ballet flats, huarache shoes, penny loafers, moccasins or espadrilles, if the shoe is comfortable AND it fits properly. You see, the issue is business dress codes in which people will not be allowed to wear tennis shoes or sneakers. These dress codes forbid that.

Avatar n tn specifically, she will not go to her ballet or ice-skating classes even though she has been to classes like these on an ongoing basis as a toddler. When the nanny takes her to the class, she starts crying and refuses to go in the room. She even told me she wanted to take these classes. What's going on??? Avatar f tn Im a 21 year old woman. I do at least an hour and a half of cardio everyday at least 6 days a week. I have been in the same routine for a few years so that might be a factor. My workout includes the eliptical on high resistance, occassionally the treadmill and sometimes weight training for my arms. I have not been able to lose anymore wieght and am wondering what I should be doing differently. I have been trying to loose around 30 pounds for a while now and have not been able to lose any weight.
Avatar f tn Use the workouts that make use of flexibility and stretching, strength training and aerobics for the best results. Fitting in regular sessions of weightlifting, calisthenics or other strength activities can help increase muscle mass and keep the body toned and strong. Aerobics will help with burning calories, endurance and weight management, and stretching helps prevent injuries and prepare the body for more intense movements.
Avatar f tn As Governor, Romney asked for even greater flexibility to waive the central part of the law by letting people receive benefits for an indefinite period and as HHS has said, his waiver request wouldn't be approved today because it weakened the law too much.
Avatar m tn My pain started about 3-4 months ago with mild hamstring pain in both legs. It was a dull sometime shooting pain. I had very little flexibility in my hamstrings until I stretched them. The pain has become more extreme and is now hurting in my lower legs (shin splints and ankle), hips, butt, hamstrings etc. The pain was in both legs but now is 90% in my right leg. Its at its worst in the am when I wake up and pretty much never feels 100% even after NSAIDs.
