I went to see the Ortho today and he prescribed 10mg hyro and 10 mg Flexeril until I can schedule PT again. I am going to make sure to go through all 3 weeks so that my cheap insurance will pay for an MRI. I had one a little over a year ago thatt revealed a bulged disc at L4 or L5...can't remember which. My insurance at that time paid with no questions. My question is this, I am taking so many meds that can cause drowsiness, I'm afraid I will be a zombie.
While I myself have not been on anti-depressants for my fibro, I understand that it is commonly done. I was on Vicoden for over three years, and now am getting good results with a 25 mcg Duragesic patch (change every three days) and Lyrica, 150 mcg twice daily. This is the most pain free I have been in recent memory. I hope that your regimen helps. This is a wonderful forum, and I am sure that there are many others who are going to share their thoughts.

Duloxetine Cymbalta®, Pregabalin Lyrica®, Amitriptyline, Lisinopril HCTZ, OxyContin, Percocet, Oxycodone, Neurontin®, Opana®, Lidoderm® patch, Hydromorphone, Soma, Flexeril...you name it, I have been compliant and done what has been asked of me in every regard. OxyContin and Oxycodone in combination Zanax XR, Cymbalta®, Soma, Lyrica®, Lisinopril HCTZ, Lidoderm® patch has been the best combination to control my pain. In late 2011, my pain became much more intense.
Lithium, Effexor XR, Diazepam, Zyprexa Also take daily Ranitidine for reflux
I was taking anywhere from 6 to 10 oxycontins 80 mg XR a day and I quit cold turkey. I am an all or nothing kind of person so tapering was not an option. I will be clean one year and two months the end of this month. I think you have to examine your situation and be honest with yourself. Do you have the self-discipline to taper? And at those amounts you mentioned, you could go cold turkey. If you want to read my story, just let me know and I'll send it to you.
But I was given rx for vicodin and flexeril. It doesn't take it away, but makes it so I don't focus so much on it and I actually sleep a lot while taking it. I wish you luck and if you go to the ER, do not let them just brush you off. I wish I would have said something to the doctor when he said what he said to me. But instead I just burst into tears.
Depakote, Imitrex, Topomax, Indomethacin, Trileptal, Clonazepam, Prochlorperazine, Lexapro, Klor-Con ER, Celebrex, Zoloft, Paxil, Cyclobenzaprine, Effexor XR, Alprazolam, Xanax, Flexeril, Keppra, Reglan, Metoclopramide, Diazepam, Adavan, Demerol, Morphine... It is important for me to explain that many of these medications were prescribed to counter-act the side affects of the primary medications.
Teamed the Ultram up with Tylenol and I didn't notice a huge difference either. I have tried Celebrex (nothing), Flexeril (knocks me out), Soma (works ok, but off and on), Zanaflex (horrible reaction, seeing black, similar to low blood pressure). Methocarbamol (sp?) worked out, not so much help with the muscle, but did help a little with sleep. My Ultram ranges from 2 to 6 tabs a day. I am 100 lbs so if I take 2 too late in the afternoon I get "buzzed".
feeling at night sometimes, and I occasionally take Flexeril and Vicodin to help with the muscle pain. I try to limit those to two or three times per week, to avoid becoming addicted. I rarely dream. I wake up typically 2 to 4 times per night, usually have to use the bathroom when I do, then go back to bed, usually able to return to sleep, but again, I do NOT typically enter REM sleep (dream).
) and had quite a bit of blood in my urine. So, once again, that med had to be stopped. Right now I take lortab, flexeril, Ambien and when I begin having a bad flare ofthe lupus, my doctor will put me on prednisone for a while. While the prednisone does have its own side effects that can be very frustrating, I seem to be able to tolerate them (and the prednisone) better than the other things that have been tried. For non-medicinal help, I LOVE my heating pad!
Muscle relaxers might be another good option to look into like flexeril, any of these can be used along with codeine or another opiate. I know many like to control pain through any painkillers they can to avoid opiates but opiates really are much safer on your body than tylenol, NSAID's and even some muscle relaxants. Obviously those who engage in addictive behaviors with opiates might want to go in a different direction, but that is a personal choice for each to deal with in themselves.
I wish I could sleep so I wouldn't feel this way, but I can't stay asleep for longer than 30 minutes. I'm on xanax xr 3mg which is time released and seems to not do much, flexeril (this does nothing for my muscle and joint pain) and for my blood pressure I'm taking Clonodine which works for the hot and cold sweats. I've tried benadryl and that does nothing. I was told this could last up to 3 months.
I also am taking flexeril, nortryptoline, and advil with my percocet
i usually take flexeril and ultram. i'm a lil leary of an antidrepressent b/c i was on paxil and had suicidal issues with that.
To everyone out there trying to beat the devil, I pray for you!!!!! I guess just keep thinking positive. Oh I forgot to mention I also will take a 10mg flexeril and some Excedrin migraine pills in between doses. It does help for a little while. I also take benadryl at night and seroquel xr for depression. My anxiety isn't so bad I think its from the seroquel. I;'ve heard people say weed helps, but it only makes my withdrawl symptoms alot worse. I guess it just depends on the person.
I know the Loratabs are bad on the liver, so I keep my dose below the danger zone and have blood work done, yearly. I take Welbrutrin 300mg and Effexor XR 150mg daily. I hate the Effexor and getting ready to slowly get off. I have gain 30 pounds, in 2 years, and if I miss a dose I am so sick to stomach and dzzy, till I can't function. So, my doctor and I are working on that. I have bad problem not being able to sleep. I have tried lots of different things.
In all of your posts, you've talked about Xanax, but not Xanax XR. Xanax XR is the slow release form of the drug, and differs for regular Xanax. The reason I'm switching to Klonipin is that I feel that Xanax XR is not working well anymore for me. I take Effexor XR for depression and anxiety, and I also take Lyrica for headaches and anxiety as well. So, you can see, I'm a mess as far as anxiety issues go! Can you shed some light on Xanax XR vs plain old Xanax? Thanks so much!
wanted me to try 300 mg of Ultram XR which I was glad to try, but got no benefit from. I wonder why. I even took 2 which doubled the amount I was taking before and still didn't get relief from the pain. Was I having withdrawals? I saw the thread about taking Effexor to get off the Tramadol, but what do I do for the pain that I have? Is there another solution?
My doctor put me on an anti-depressant (Effexor XR) and it made all the difference in the world. It took away the jitters, convulsions, leg and arm spasams. Didn't touch the flu type symptoms or the fatigue but I was comfortable 'cause I wasn't crawing in my skin. I am still taking it 4 weeks later because it also blocks the cravings for the narcotic. Again, Squirrel / Jones...
I take Lyrica, Tizanidine, and NSAIDS everyday. I also take Xanax XR which helps me with the anxiety the pain can cause. I have a zero gravity chair that relieves the pressure on my lower back by elevating my feet ( I would highly recommend this to anyone with lower back pain), or at least get a recliner that elevates your feet to about a 45 degree angle). I try to keep my weight down.
