I also have a 4mm kidney stone. Have had it in the left kidney for 2 years. Went mountain biking the other day and it got lodged in the Ureter. IT about killed me. I went to the ER thinking I had a ruptured appendix. This was a week ago and I'm still in pain. The stone has not moved and I've gotten too sick to hold down any fluids. Normally I pass these without much problem but this one is terrible. So Lithrotripsy and a stent for me tommorow.
My question is do any of you see a pain management dr for pain related to kidney stones? Ive gotten stones for the last 18 years but they used to come about anywhere from once or twice a year with one 3 year gap of no stones which was heavenly. Now since novemeber they seem to forming rapidly. Is this any indication that this may continue to be a frequent problem or could this just be a flukish year? My urologist doesn't seem to have any real idea so i was looking for personal experiences.
These agents aren't known to cause kidney stones. Most kidney stones in the US are caused by our diet which is rich in meat protein. Calcium supplementation does increase the risk of kidney stones. As far as the blood pressure goes, he should probably have his dose of the lisinopril reduced. Alternatively, there are other agents such as calcium channel blockers, beta blockers or Angiotensine receptor blockers that can also be tried. I would probably avoid diuretics at this point.
They can do Utererscopy or URS on stones still in the kidney... but, kidney stones have to be in the urine collecting part of the kidney, the parenchyma to be removed... other than if stuck in the ureter, bladder, and the junctions from kidney to ureter and the other one. I can't remember all of this. This is an intracorporal procedure... the source to break up the stone is inside the kidney. A utererscope is used with various attachments.

I am a 26 year old female and I have been dealing with kidney stones for the past 9 years. I pass atleast 2 stones every month. Recently, I had SEVERE pain in my left flank and went to the ER. Had a CT scan done and it showed I had several stones in both kidneys. I was given morphine at the hospital and vicodin to take home.
I recently had a CT scan of the Abdomen and pelvis. I cannot get an appointment for the results for two weeks but in the meantime I have asked for a copy of my results of the CT. I just want to know what "Pelvic Pleboliths, Cholelithiasis and benign sclerosis of the left femoral head" means. The report also reads " benign appearing cystic change within the right ovary - No free fluid".
I have three kidney stones on in my left kidney (4mm, 6mm, 9mm) they have been there for about a year. Doctor considers them "non obstructive". I get my next ultra sound in April to see if they got bigger or moved. However lately I have some symptoms that can be kidney related. Sometimes I get a bout of nausea - like just a "blah general feeling" last can last up to an hour.
(I know it is not good to do that). I also went to the Urologist thinking that it may be kidney stones. I had an ultrasound done there also; no kidney stones.
The OB/GYN thought that maybe I had fractured my vertebrae or had a pinched nerve. I was going to make an appointment with the Orthopedist the next day, but was in so much pain that night that I was nauseous and could not sleep.
In the last month I had to go to the ER for kidney stones. After taking a CAT scan it showed that I have several stones still in my kidneys. I have an appointment with a kidney doctor who is a stone specialist according to my uroligist. However the appointment isn't until April. So i am sitting here hoping not to have another problem until then. Anyone had the same problem as me. As for my stones most are very small (2 mm).
This past friday at 1:20am I was rushed to the ER from sudden back pain that was unbearable I was so scared for my baby.. Came to the conclusion it's kidney stones and I became more terrified because there's not many pain killers they could give me other than tylenol and morphine, so about the last one I asked if it was ok for my baby, first they said not sure!!
Had anyone had kidney stones? This is my 3rd child I'm 12+1 weeks.I'm healthy.but in the last 2 weeks I have had 4 kidney stones(on top of being really sick with"morning sickness"). Not kidding it IS worse than having a baby. MY ob said they don't effect the baby at all and pregnant women are more prone to getting them.had any body else had this problem.
I didn't now that frequent kidney-stone formation was a symptom of Sjogren's syndrome. Or are you just mentioning the fact that you have Sjogren's syndrome, and that you make kidney-stones as well as having it?
Anyway, besides ESWL (Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy) to break up the stones, they can perform a cystoscopy or a ureteroscopy, and pull the stone out.
