My family doctor recently perscribed both Flexeril and Mobic. After a month without a huge improvement he increased the dosage, and wants me to continue another month. I have gotten some relief however my main complaints from a bad fall 4 months ago, have not improved. He has not shown any concern on how long its safe. I have done research on both, and the reccomendations are for short term use. He thinks I have Fibromyalgia, but I don't think so.

An underactive thyroid is treated with thyroid replacement hormones such as Synthroid. Fibromyalgia has been treated with muscle relaxers such as Flexeril, antidepressants such as Cymbalta, and pain management like gabepentin (Lyrica).

I've tried both Soma and Flexeril (not at same time!) for muscle relaxers (I have fibromyalgia, lupus, severe arthritis). Really the only side effect I've experienced with the Flexeril is that it makes me VERY sleepy, but when I'm hurting and having trouble getting the rest that I need, that actually is a good thing!

hi i am 18 years old and since the start of 2009 have been depressed and had fibromyalgia, in the last 2 months ive noticed i have been getting pains in mostly my hands and arms but sometimes my legs. the pains come and go in short and sharp spells. the pains are stabbing pains all over my hands and occasionally on my arms, and last for about 30 minns-and hour. but then go away for an hour but come back.

My doctor just said I have fibromyalgia and gave me flexeril. What is the relationship of thyroid and or adrenals to muscle tightness and pain?

Both bottles state the dosage on them that you can take. The Flexeril I believe was given to me after I had some dental work done to help loosen my jaw/neck muscles because I ended up with Trismus. And the Norflex was given to me by my old PCP awhile ago because I mentioned during a visit my neck and shoulders were chronically tight. I suppose I could call my NL and see which one she recommends.... I just Hate calling there!!

So far I feel sluggish and achey. I do still take mobic, flexeril and topamax for my fibromyalgia. Anything can give me would be great. Thank you!!

Following then onwards, I have experince pain trobbing at the back, in between the joint of knees, in between the hip joint, upper and lower both of the legs, at the joints of the arms, in between fingers, at the palm of hands and feet. I have recently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. My family doctor referred me to a rheumatologist who diagnosed me. I have had a lot of pain that travels in my body. I have a constant migraine and back pain. My hands and feet are numb with bursts of electricity. The Rheumatologist prescribed Flexeril, Ambien and told me to go to a psychiatrist. I made an appointment with a psychiatrist a week ago and have since researched him online.

After being on Aropax for some time ,I developed symptoms of Fibromyalgia. The drugs side affects did cause mild muscle akes and muscle spasims but nothing bad until I got the Fibro myalga. I ran an experiment with my Doctor and weaned off them and the Fibromyalga went over a few weeksin a decreasing fashion. I then went back on it again and the problems returned.

I have had fibromyalgia for years and know that pain well. I take Cymbalta and Flexeril for that. After a slip on the ice this past winter I have developed sciatic nerve pain from my buttocks down to my ankle. It sometimes feel like a sharp stabbing pain that is not pleasant and is beginning to affect my job, which is physically demanding. Any suggestions on what medications can help decrease this pain.

Iam a mother with 2 young children and I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 4 years ago. Since then I have been suffering with extreme pain that never lets up. I am curious if anyone else has ideas on which medicines work better for pain. I also suffer from depression and anxiety issues. of Flexeril....I was prescribed 1 - 2 5 mg. tabs three times daily to deal with spasms. Since insurance would not approve the extended release flexeril, I had to stay with the generic and was told BY MY DOC to take 2 tabs 3 times daily for the spasms. I am also prescribed Dilaudid (2 mg. up to 4 times per day), but I don't use more than 1 per day now....pain is not so bad...just the spasms -- especially after PT!!!

I have been prescribed Flexeril for over a year, as a muscle relaxant for long term back and neck pain... I was told it was a 'safe' drug, and not to worry about it - it was not addicting. Now, after taking it for this long, I have re-read the patient information packet, and see that it is only for short term use, and I cannot find information on how to titrate off. I get migraine headaches whenever I stop taking it for any length of time, as well as other symptoms...

I have a family member that has suffered with Fibro for years but did not know until about 2 years ago what was wrong. This was when her symptoms got so bad she could barely do more than sit in a chair or lay in bed. She went to several doctors ($$$$$$) before anyone believed her. Actually a visit to the ER was when she got diagnosed. Lyrica did not work for her, bad reactions. Prednisone was a nightmare, made her super manic and hyper.

Finally, I hope you changed the dosage of your Trazadone with the knowledge of your provider. It can be dangerous to "play" with your medications without the approval of your doctor, since the doctor prescribed the initial dosage for a specific reason.

only thing that came back abnormal was my Vitamin D which I am on 50,000 IU a week. Also on Flexeril 10MG x2 for muscular tightness spasms. When I stand my body feels as if it is struggling to stand. My legs will shake and my heart rate will be at 110-126 Beats per minute. My resting heart rate used to be 64-70. My arms also feel heavy but not as bad as my legs. My wrist sometimes hurt but I do strengthening exercises such as grip squeeze and the pain will go away.

ll take the muscle weakness over the nerve pain, especially if it is supposed to be temporary which I assume that it since my dosage was just increased a couple of weeks ago. I told her that I was more concerned about the muscle spasms. She asked about my Baclofen dose. I reminded her that I didn't take Baclofen because I had bad side effects to it when I did try it.

My sister has RA so I understand the pain you go through. She also has 4 bulging discs and fibromyalgia. Her Dr has her on 3 long acting pills per day and 4 for breakthrough pain. She also takes Flexeril and it really helps her back pain. Have you ever tried this med before? It might help better than the Soma. How long have you been on your meds?

I had been taking Flexeril for 20 years to help me sleep and it stopped helping me a year ago. GP put me on Amitriptyline 10mg a year ago after a couple weeks it started to help some but haven’t gotten much more than 4-6 hours of sleep most nights sometimes 7 hrs. GP tried upping Amitriptyline but I got weird side effects so dropped back to 10mg..GP added Melatonin 5-10mg a couple months ago helped for awhile but now I go nights with no sleep to 2or 4 hours. Anyone else’s have this issue?

Hi there. I was prescribed flexeril today for some back pain. Can anyone tell me exactly what it is? If it is addicting? Will it make me sleepy/hyper, etc?

Does anyone know very much about Flexeril? I just received an call from someone that thinks they may have overdosed on it. He usually does not take it and took up to ten 10mg tablets today and feels somewhat out of it. 100mg in one shot shouldn't do too much should it? He is in No. CA and I'm in So. CA so I can't get to him. Should I be concerned about him not waking up? Apparently he took six of them yesterday and I read the half life is 1-3 days.
