Both bottles state the dosage on them that you can take. The Flexeril I believe was given to me after I had some dental work done to help loosen my jaw/neck muscles because I ended up with Trismus. And the Norflex was given to me by my old PCP awhile ago because I mentioned during a visit my neck and shoulders were chronically tight.
I suppose I could call my NL and see which one she recommends.... I just Hate calling there!!
As a result, she managed by using the max dosage of Flexeril, plus she was already using some serious pain relievers for this and other problems.
For me, the occasional pill is a rare need, fortunately; what I have found helps most is to try keeping my weight down (an ongoing battle, with minimal progress), and keeping my lower and middle body stretched and flexed as much as possible. Mixed success, admittedly.
Since insurance would not approve the extended release flexeril, I had to stay with the generic and was told BY MY DOC to take 2 tabs 3 times daily for the spasms. I am also prescribed Dilaudid (2 mg. up to 4 times per day), but I don't use more than 1 per day now....pain is not so bad...just the spasms -- especially after PT!!!
My big fear is epilepsy Oxy use to make me shake and bite my tongue but since i been on 200mg Lamictal it has stopped I read Flexeril may cause seizure but then I also read the opposite.
Even if I am not epileptic I like to play it safe as my Doc is out, and the pharmacy worker never seems to know anything.
So does Flexeril increase seizure risk or is that just for (diagnosed) epileptics?
I don't want to add it to the oxy and have a attack.
I went to see the Ortho today and he prescribed 10mg hyro and 10 mg Flexeril until I can schedule PT again. I am going to make sure to go through all 3 weeks so that my cheap insurance will pay for an MRI. I had one a little over a year ago thatt revealed a bulged disc at L4 or L5...can't remember which. My insurance at that time paid with no questions.
My question is this, I am taking so many meds that can cause drowsiness, I'm afraid I will be a zombie.
I don't know, I developed muscle tightening on use and cramping and pain while on a T3 only (Cytomel) thyroid hormone replacement, and like the poster, it is so bad that I also have issues walking. Switched back to Tirosint (T4 with no fillers) and still have the problem. Fwiw, mucsle cramping IS a known hypo-thyroid symptom. Despite lay people on the internet suggesting otherwise, adrenals have no bearing in thyroid conversion.
Has anyone heard that the dosage is based on your weight? My numbers are perfect, according to the doctor, however, I am always tired, have reflux problems that the gastro doesn't understand why, I am constantly having hard stools, not gaining or losing weight, and getting very frustrated. I keep thinking I need my dosage raised but no one will listen to me. Am I thinking the right way or not? Help! Need your advise.
ll take the muscle weakness over the nerve pain, especially if it is supposed to be temporary which I assume that it since my dosage was just increased a couple of weeks ago.
I told her that I was more concerned about the muscle spasms. She asked about my Baclofen dose. I reminded her that I didn't take Baclofen because I had bad side effects to it when I did try it.
Does anyone know very much about Flexeril? I just received an call from someone that thinks they may have overdosed on it. He usually does not take it and took up to ten 10mg tablets today and feels somewhat out of it. 100mg in one shot shouldn't do too much should it? He is in No. CA and I'm in So. CA so I can't get to him. Should I be concerned about him not waking up? Apparently he took six of them yesterday and I read the half life is 1-3 days.
I have taken flexeril, could not take more than a 1/4 or I would feel very odd. Maybe that was a good thing. You can get a pill cutter and start cutting your dose. We aren't allowed to talk about how to dose hopefully you can get the jist of this. While trying to wean down I would up your vitamins. There is something called a Thomas Recipe but that is for narcotics,so not sure if it would work for you. Your muscles may need more magnesium than normal.
My thyroid has been up and down during this time. I am currently on a dosage of Synthroid of 200 mcg. My tsh has been changing. For example last May my tsh went to 24 with normal t3 and t4. My doctor put my Synthroid up to the 200 mcg from 175mcg. He wanted to check it in 3 months. I went back at the 3 month mark and my tsh was at 12 and normal t3 and t4. He told me I had to wait another 2 months to check the tsh again and that he didn't think I was absorbing the Synthroid.
While an initial dosage be weight based, the ending dosage shouldn't be based on either. It should be based on FT3 and FT4 levels, as well as symptoms.
You should not be worried about your TSH, you should be worried about your FT levels.
Two months ago i took flexeril (muscle relaxer) for tmj like symptoms. Right after that i noticed hypo symptoms and when i went to the doc intested at tsh 17.
Was i wrong to think that the pill triggered my thyroid? I have hashimotos By the way.
I am asking because i am hanving jaw tension and pain now and want to take the flexeril but i am afraid it might trigger my hyop tyroidism.
