Flexeril and prednisone

Common Questions and Answers about Flexeril and prednisone

flexeril

Meloxicam? Flexeril? Baclofen? Neurontin? Prednisone? I am currently taking 20mg's of prednisone three times a day to try to get my flare under control and I take neurontin for pain, although I have to admit it does not help much with the bone pain but helps with the muscle pain. I also take Flexeril three times a day with a xanax to calm the muscles, I have severe spasticity in my hip and I usually get a nice shot of lidocaine in my back everytime I go to the Dr office.
I've had no relief from pt or gabapenten prednisone or flexeril or Toradol injection. My back pain has only gotten worse and my leg pain is a shooting sensation along with burning sensation. It's so unbearable it at times makes me sick and faint. I've gotten no help for pain relief and have been suffering too long. This is my first time on here I hope someone has some new answers for me.
I have been back to the doctors office 3 times in the last two weeks. Have been prescribed motrin and Flexeril which did nothing. Then I was prescribed Vicodin which takes the edge off, but the pain is still there, lastly Prednisone which has given me the most relief so far but is still a far cry from bearable pain. I had a MRI of my spine done this morning. I have also been experiencing tremors in my arm, shoulder and neck which don't hurt, but are felt.
My doc tried just about everything before he let me hsve the Percs. Ibuprofen, Zanaflex, Flexeril, Imiprimine, Etodolac, Prednisone, Vicodan, Napoxen, Ultram...We tried a TENS unit, CT scan, Xrays, bone scan and most recently a nerve block injection from an anastesiologist. Everything looks normal but the pain is still there. Since last Aug I have taken around 525 doses (5mg) of Percocet. Needless to say, I have a problem.
and he told me to see an oral surgeon (I do clench and grind my teeth) and prescribed me Flexeril. I also aw my GP who thought the spasms were a side effect of the prednisone. So, I had one day last week when I felt good... no spasms, little discomfort in the ear, and no head pressure. I went to the dentist for fillings the next day and my problems all came back right after. I saw an oral surgeon last week and he said I had very mild TMJ issues...
I take medications for high blood pressure and high cholesterol as well as Ibuprofen and Flexeril for chronic tension headaches. But my Dr claims that none of these would cause a reaction like this.
I was started on oral Prednisone that tapered over two weeks (and then had to be repeated for better symptom resolution). The dose was more than twice what's in a Medrol dose pack but not anywhere close to what is used for a MS exacerbation. In the mean time gabapentin was gradually added to the baclofen I had been taking already. In the end, the baclofen could be reduced a little and I found a combination of the two drugs that controls both spasticity and pain reasonably well.
I still have muscle twitching, but it isn't severe. I've also stopped taking prednisone because it made me confused and I'm still trying to take off the extra weight it causes. Best of luck with your issues and I sincerely hope that you find relief soon.
I have not been able to get a biopsy but the doctors have put me on prednisone since April. I thought it was gone and then it started again. Sometimes my head is so sore all I can do is hold it and cry and pray. I have arthritis in my jaw and cheek bones and migranes, which makes it difficult to know exactly what is causing the head pain on any given day. My jaw bones are cracked, the pain is in the same area as Giant Cell.
140, positive HG-B27, degeneration in my sacro-iliac joints and S1/L5-T10/11 with an anterior herniation of the T7/T8 disk, chronically low hemocrit/hemoglobin, mildly elevated platelets, and elevated sed rates (if you need to know anymore blood test results, just respond and I'll give them to you.
Other than that, I’m getting neuromuscular massage therapy through a physiatrist's office twice a week when I can tolerate the touch and get to the office. I’ve added flexeril at night and take a few more acetaminophen and Ativan than usual but can’t get anyone to try me on gabapentin. Nothing else is effective against this type of pain (as many of you know all too well). I stretch, ice, meditate, splint, moan, cry, clock-watch and cuss like a fiend to get through.
Contined to have on and off symptoms, so my doctor did prescribe a dose pack of Prednisone, Flexiril and ordered an MRI. Blue Cross insurance denied it. Last night I was back in the ER for the pain. Gave me paid meds and Flexiril and told me bedrest. The lumbar xray showed nothing, so its obviously a soft tissue/pinched nerve problem. No Prednisone was given as I had just finished the dose pack on Sunday. All of the above are doing NOTHING for the pain, and I am barely functional.
Can I give it some flexeril and prednisone til the am when I take it to my Vet? What other comfort measures can i take? Should I take it to the emergency vet an hour away?
I have been on hydroxychloroquine and prednisone for the last year and I will continue with those for now. I also take ibuprofen 800 mg three times daily and flexeril as needed.
He said I have PACs and a murmur that are benign the only thing is that I can feel them going on and it is quite noticeable and painful. I'm on prednisone and etodalac and flexeril. If I see improvement he will send me on to an ortho or a neuro. So we will just take it all one step at a time and see what happens next.....cause you NEVER know!! I will get an MRI next for more info.
the PA who stated I wouldn't experience withdrawal, prescribed me a Medrol dose-pack and the muscle relaxant cyclobezeprine (Flexeril). Other medical/psychiatric conditions I have are hypothyroidism and bi-polar disorder/depression for which I take levothyroxine (Synthroid), divalproex (Depakote) and bupropion (Welbutrin).
Its getting hard to tell the difference of weakness and preasure. Do you think it will be safe to take my prednisone with the flexeril and xanax. And do you think the prednisone will help my symptoms any.
The doctors said It wasn't big enough to cause pain but, they send me to physical therapy, epidural injections oral medication such a Prednisone, muscle relaxers and pain killers. Everything looks like is working until I tried to go back to my normal routine. Of Course trying to be more careful. Since the problem persisted the doctor sent another test called a discogram or discography.
However, he said it could NOT be causing me so much pain. He checked out my arm and noticed a hard soft tissue knot, and suggested removing it through surgery and it "might" relieve my pain. So, 3 weeks ago I had the said surgery and it was removed (a hard soft tissue mass about the size of a marble). No, this was not the cyst inside my humerus bone. Anyways, I still have the pain, and it is extremely terrible at night (on a scale of 1 to 10, a 20 at night).
I just want to be armed with something to ask for instead of my dr. giving me narcotics..and unfortunately I feel like they stick to certain things and I want to know from the people that take different things..thanks again..enjoy your coffee..
She was sent home after 3 days in the hospital. She was put on flexeril, delaudid, valium, prednisone. Nothing is helping. After 3 days at home, she woke up this a.m. crying with the intensity of the pain. She can barely walk...only with help. She was sent to a rheumatologist who didn't know what to do other than put her back into the hospital to try to find something to help her pain. Do you have any ideas of other tests to explore or ways to treat something like this?
I saw him and my adenoids were swollen and he said that it wasn't a sinus infection and perscribed Prednisone. The next week I still wasn't feeling any better and still could breath through my nose. He then said it was the nerve endings in my nose weren't working correctly and gave me ativan which still didn't work. He then told me that it was my Psych meds (wellbutrin, clonidine, and ritalin).
rash but in the center - where the tick had actually been attached - there was a very dark red-brown surrounded by a thin whitish line and then a large red area around that. The area was sometimes itchy and sore and lasted for several weeks. I have chronic allergies, sinuses & headaches so it's hard to say if the headaches have been worse since then.
In past 2 weeks have had low back pain which started with the pain radiating into hip, side and front thigh, and ultimately into knee and calf ending before the ankle. Numbness and Tingling have continued in knee and calf and are not in arms from shoulder to fingertips. Fingertip hurt. Have had general weakness and any activity such as housework, bending, etc. aggravates symptoms. Medical History for this Issue: 1.
it felt so bad i thought i was going to blow up i was given prednisone for a couple weeks with flexeril and cymbalta. after a couple of weeks off the prednisone i was right back in the same boat with pain. i was refeerred to a pain managment specialist he gave me several weeks of therapy with a lot of it resulting in more pain when i left than when i got there he offered a pain injection shot i told him i wanted to think about it. in the mean time my family doc had me do some blood work done.
and second, since i react to iodine, although i was pre medicated with prednisone and benedryl, when i came home, i had developed hives on the face, hands - all my doctor told me was to continue with benedryl - is this enough or do i need further medical help thx
It does not seem to be related to exercise since I can go for a run and feel nothing... but then I can be sitting and all of a sudden my calves (always both at the same time) start to ache and feel tight. Sometimes they feel so sore that I can almost not walk. Water seems to help on occasions. I can't understand why all of a sudden I may be becoming dehydrated so that doesn't seem logical... The aches come and go without warning and sometimes it's much worse than other times.
I went to a new doc in November 08 (had to change due to insurance) and she agreed that it sounded like sciatica and treated it differently with prednisone and prescription strength naproxen. She also ordered a lower back xray and PT for a month. The x-ray was questionable and the doc that saw me for that believed it to be muscle related. So he gave me flexeril and hydrocodone for the pain, also ordered a lumbar MRI.
So I just got dx with facet arthritis.. I am on Plaquenil and low dosage prednisone for Sjrogen/lupus. I am also currently starting a treatment of Vit D at 50,000 units per week... for deficiency... Could Facet arthritis all come from this autoimune problem... I do also have osteoarthritis on my knees and arthritis on my shoulder... Any advice out there is welcomed.
