Avatar n tn Ask your doctor. My view is NO! A pacemaker does nothing to stop AFib and the AFib is why Coumadin is being taken.
983008 tn?1329925830 There are other muscle relaxers such as Flexeril that you could try. The best thing is to call your doctor and let him know about your side effects. Until then you could think of limiting until the evening like you are doing.
Avatar f tn Duke University Medical Center recommended the target range of 3.0 to 3.5 for the St Jude Medical leaflet valve. I have been on it since 1993. The instability has been only the last three years or so. Here's a link to a presentation that suggests vitamin K and the logic for doing so; http://www.dcpa.us/slides09/sun05.trujillo.vitk.
Avatar f tn would the coumadin and fish oil combined be the cause of this bleeding and can fish oil alone sustain my need to thin my blood for arrythmia? I am afraid to take the coumadin again. I've been off that and the fish oil since Oct. 17.

Avatar n tn My father in law is an alcoholic who has Atrial Fibrillation and is on coumadin. His cardiologist will not perform a cardioversion for him until his INR is within an acceptable level but it never is! The coumadin nurses frequently tell him his levels are too high and tell him to not take any coumadin for days at a time then the cardiologist tells him his INR is top low and they post pone the cardioversion.
Avatar f tn I am preparing to have an ablation to correct my afib and they want me on coumadin to prepare for it and then after. My baseline INR was .9. Not sure what I need to do. Should I take the coumadin and just let the clinic monitor the INR readings?
1460652 tn?1340248730 then i was involved in a car accident and was prescribed flexeril 7 days ago. the palps started 30 mins after the first pill. i just thought it was stress from the accident and "oh great, the skips are back"...until they became debilitating, and my bp dropped to 90/50, where as it is usually 115/75.i went to the dr. Avatar m tn My big fear is epilepsy Oxy use to make me shake and bite my tongue but since i been on 200mg Lamictal it has stopped I read Flexeril may cause seizure but then I also read the opposite. Even if I am not epileptic I like to play it safe as my Doc is out, and the pharmacy worker never seems to know anything. So does Flexeril increase seizure risk or is that just for (diagnosed) epileptics? I don't want to add it to the oxy and have a attack.
Avatar m tn I am a coumadin patient due to atrium enlargement, an hx of afib and 2 prosthetic valves. I also have chronic neck and back pain. Is the use of far infrared heating pads OK with coumadin? Thanks.
Avatar f tn We usually admit the patients 3 days prior to the surgery when we withhold coumadin and start heparin once the INR is less than 2.0. After surgery we usually start the heparin 12 hours after the surgery and coumadin shortly thereafter. The patient usually don't leave the hospital until their INR above 2.0. These are not hard and fast rules, and some physicians are more careful than others.

378273 tn?1262097621 I'm also an afib sufferer and have been on coumadin for 6 years and haven't experienced any excessive bleeding or bruising with it. I was pleasantly surprised with how little it changed my life. I generally undergo a PT/INR measurement every 4 to 6 weeks and there seems to be no problem maintaining an INR level between 2 and 3. I'm 67 and also run and exercise every day. I also eat salads, greens and vegetables daily and haven't had to limit my diet because of coumadin.
Avatar f tn I been taking flexeril for years because of muscle pain due to Lupus and for the last 2 months have been being treated for severe indigestion as a side effect of the med Verapimil. I was wondering if the flexeril could relax the sphincter muscle that is involved in GERD? Please give me any ideas or info you might have regarding if the flexeril would be contraindicated due to the GERD situation? Thanks, God bless!
Avatar n tn The body has a hard time clotting the blood due to aging. Also, Coumadin is hard on the arteries and with her age her arteries may be weak or thin. Coumadin is a very strong blood thinner and has some very serious side effects such as stomach cancer. It also can cause osteoporosis. Before her doctor starts her on any blood thinner, make sure that she has blood drawn and it is proven that her blood is thick enough to require this. You also may want to seek a second opinion.

I ws on the 10mg dose.... So then he switched me to zanaflex, and i can only take it at nite because it makes me knock out....I don't take it all the time, only when my back is hurting as i think that one can be addicting i am sure others will give you their experience on it!

Avatar f tn I've had bad lower back, tailbone, and pelvic pain. My doctor prescribed flexiril and pain meds. I take them as needed, I usually take half of a muscle relaxer though cause they make me so sleepy!
552012 tn?1272855991 The best sites to learn about Coumadin and the various types of heart valve are 1. Cardiosmart 2. American heart association 3. Mayo Clinic patient information site. The best mechanical valves are the St.Jude valve and the ATS valve. There are also other mechanical valves but the largest world wide experience is with these valves.
Avatar m tn t do an ablation. I am now wearing and event monitor for 30 days. I have a feeling he wants me to go on coumadin. I don't want to do that because I am very active and I am petrified of bleeding out. when I went to my accupuncturist she said she believes it is happening because of the sympathetic nerve due to the stress I have been under. I also read where taking 40mg of vitaminB6 helps the arrhythmia. What are your thoughts on my situation.
