Flexeril and constipation

Common Questions and Answers about Flexeril and constipation

flexeril

I'm going again tomorrow to perhaps get off of flexeril and maybe get a monitor to take home. Has anyone had this happen to them when on Flexeril? I noticed that the skipped beats got worse with the supplements i'm on too but don't know if these should cause such an event. I went done on the dose of supplements but I'm taking 100mg vitamin B6/B1/magnesium and 600 of Malate, once a day d-ribose, 200mg of coenzyme Q10 and about 400 more mg of magnesium chloride with about 600mg of calcium..
Hi and sorry you are having these problems. I was on vicadin but it gave me insomina so I went off within two days. I was on flexeril for 9 months. It only really works for muscle spasms and helping you sleep. The first 3 weeks it helps with pain due to muscle spasms after that it becomes a sleep aid. I haven't been on mobic.
in nature. But, the cyst caused constipation and the constipation caused hemorrhoids. I had surgery in March, and had the cyst removed. But, after surgery I was even more constipated and the hemorrhoids returned. I finally got that under control, but was left with the strange rectal pain. If you find a definitive answer, please post it. I googled rectal pain, and I am sure we are not the only ones with it. There are lots of articles on it.
I do not think I have experienced and drowsiness on these medications, but definitely bursts of energy, and constipation, itchiness, and nausea, but thankfully no vomiting. I also take a muscle relaxer with those call flexeril (or something looks like a little yellow baseball homeplate) and that helps with the sleepiness a bit.
2009 i decided to try the family practice physician he listen to my symptoms and sent me to get ultrasounds for my constant right hip pain.
Hello, all! I've read many of the posts and they have led me to reconsider using my hydrocodone. I have minor back pain, and have been taking it for about 15 months. I take 7.5mg 5 times per day. Today is day 1 of quitting cold turkey. I don't have pills left to taper, and I just want to get off it. Most of the time I take it because it prevents any pain...including headaches and any other aches. Sometimes, to improve my mood and make me more social.
140, positive HG-B27, degeneration in my sacro-iliac joints and S1/L5-T10/11 with an anterior herniation of the T7/T8 disk, chronically low hemocrit/hemoglobin, mildly elevated platelets, and elevated sed rates (if you need to know anymore blood test results, just respond and I'll give them to you.
So I dug up some more info that I wanna share ... in case you are dying of curiousity. Or need more info like I do. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http***mb.rxlist.com/rxboard/ultram.pl?noframes;read=3179 not just for breakfast anymore Posted By: mkny Date: Friday, 21 October 2005, at 3:53 a.m.
Welcome to Part 6! Please make yourself at home!
your right on when you said that taking a opiate for chronic pain is not the same as addiction. Many of the symptoms can and are the same such as tolerance and dependence. Drug addicts and chronic pain patience Are as different as ketchup and mustard. Not much of a correlation but you get my drift.
But, to be honest, the pain HAS gotten better with time and isn't as bad as what it used to be over a year ago. My neurologist has been prescribing me the Norco and also Flexeril for the pain and muscle spasms. I don't really take the Flexeril though. But because I started taking the medication out of necessity, and some of my conditions are chronic, I feel like I will need these horrible meds for the rest of my life. I used to be a runner and a hard-core athlete....before the accidents.
I've been on Amantadine several weeks and it seems to help a lot with energy and stamina. Last three days I have taken one Flexeril at bedtime. Since.Tuesday, ic, likeI'm voice issue very sporadic "frozen in place" trouble with my tongue. Split second and I was back to normal. Now tonight it's intensified, and almost every sentence. Has an episode. At dinner, Nancy first heard it Before my second course is half gone, I have very shaky jandds and hkunbs.
Maybe something like a muscle relaxant pill as well , not nothing powerful like baclofen or anything , my wife was given Flexeril by the general doctor which saw her the first time , and thats what we used while she was having the cramps and twitching. She has since stopped taking it completely , but during that time it was helpful , I would advice to go to your general doctor and ask him about it , since it's not as strong a medicine yet it seemed to help her with the twitching.
Also, I was taking 5mg of Flexeril every night for the fibromyalgia and low back pain, but because Flexeril is an anticholinergic drug, I became concerned that it might be exacerbating the constipation problem, so I have not taken it for about two weeks now. I was discovered to have H. pylori in early 2001 and put on a regimen of heavy duty antibiotics, plus PPI.
I am wondering though, on some of the MS literature that I have read, it says not to take it if you have constipation issues. Does or has anyone else been prescribed this with constipation problems, and if so, what happened,? did it worsen, or stay the same, I debating about starting it, but haven't yet filled the prescription, wanted to chat with you folks first..... Dr. is not to forth right with information, so, I don't ask much cause it always seems to be a problem with her.
I have talked to the neurosurgeon who did the surgery and he shrugged his shoulders and said I have no idea and sent me back to my neurologist. He gave me a series of injections in both shoulders and the pain stopped for a couple days but then came right back. Then we tried message therapy, it helps but only for a short period. And I have tried changing my pillows on my bed and sleeping in different positions and nothing seems to help for long term. What can I do?

Also I am experiencing pain on my right side just above my hip that started out once in a while that now does not let up and I do not have regular bowl movements I either have constipation for weeks at a time or diarrhea that lasts two to three days going at least 10 times a day I have tried fiber and laxatives with no success. I have been getting muscle spasms in my back, neck, legs and stomach for the last three years that are increasing more and more.
and then the neck pain is not going away it gets very tight and i think the flexeril has stopped working cuz it doesnt seem to have an effect anymore. I do not have chiari type headaches, ears i either hear my heartbeat or this awfully loud buzzing.. i read on another site and i thought this might be helpful to some who suffer from constipation. magnesium citrate its in liquid form, and you can buy it at your local drug store.
- numbness in hands and feet - 'burning' sensation in both hands and feet; forearm and shin - stiffness in neck; all joints - elbows, knees, wrists, ankles - rheumatoid arthritis has been ruled out - cant sleep well - unexplained weight gain - 60 lbs in less than 5 yrs - increased urination - constipation - problems digesting - had a colonoscopy last August; everything is good - fatigued; can sleep at a moments notice - hard to get through the day - swollen feet; ankles and legs - blood clot r
Bowel symptoms included alternating diarrhea and constipation. At the same time, as soon as the bowel symptoms began, I started getting leg cramps in the calf muscles, which I had never experienced before, along with a sensation of continuous muscle soreness in the calves like what others have described in this forum. My muscles did not decline in strength, but in endurance. For example, I walk on the beach regularly, but the soreness and reduced muscle function cut my walks in half.
I've tried savella, lyrica, cymbalta, nuerontin, flexeril, norco, celebrex, anti-depressants, etc... and NOTHING is working for my physical pain (Fibro + many spine problems). Somedays it's a horrible life. Somedays it's just too difficult. BUT we have to be strong and hopeful that someday an effective treatment will be availble for all of us who are suffering. Try to enjoy every ounce of life.
I would get a diagnosis of constipation, be given an enema and magnesium citrate and sent home. I was stubborn and wouldn't believe that constipation could cause such extreme pain so I kept using the vicodin and consequently kept ending up back in the E.R. Finally, after my June 10th visit to the E.R., I grew a brain and stopped using the vicodin. I started taking Acidophilus, Benefiber, and Stool Softeners with Laxatives every day.
There is also a concoction made up with prune juice, fiber and something else that is proven to be very helpful in controlling constipation. Kathy, I think you offer this some time back. Besides being uncomfortable, constipation is one of the causes of urinary tract infections. Infections are potent triggers for relapses and for increases in spasticity. The act of bearing down hard to expel a hard stool can make you too stiff (spastic) to relax the rectal sphincter.
it started with headaches (migranes here and there, then the worst neck and shoulder pain everyday, IBS (constipation then the runs), fatigue, i go from over sleeping to insomnia, my ob/gyn diagnosed me with severe muscle spasms in my neck and shoulders and gave me 10 mg flexeril daily but it had barely helped and oddly enough i does not make me tired one bit and i have heard of it knocking people out big time so maybe it just dosent work on me?
A good muscle relaxant like I took Flexeril for 9 months helped with sleeping and the pain for a while. But it makes your really tired in the day time too. I also ended up with skipping heart beats so they took me off and I seem to be ok. I also took Skelaxin (works like a muscle relaxant) and isn't addictive and it was ok for two months then I started to get shortness of breath. So, you have to see how you react to things. Let me know if you have any other questions.
I have been suffering with a recurring problem for about 10 years. For 15 years prior to that I had been diagnosed with spastic colon that presented with a sharp pain in upper right abdomen. Usually rest and a gentle diet for a few days took care of it quite well. Then I got my usual pain but then it went through to my back - to the right of my spine around the bra strap area. This pain is disabling and can be intermittent for 3-6 months.
I had the same thing. I went to the gastro doctor and he said it's hemmorhoids and constipation (even though I also get diarrhea, which he said is the same thing as constipation). Straining and even sitting on the toilet too long can do it. I have meds and he put me on a regimen. First I am "cleaning out" and then add a lot of fiber to my diet and see what happens. I have my fingers crossed.
