It's important to realize that the omega-3 fatty acids in flaxseed oil aren't identical to what you get from fish oil. Flaxseed oil contains alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), while fish oil contains eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). The effects and potential benefits may not be the same. Whole flaxseeds contain another important group of chemicals known as lignans. Lignans are being studied for use in preventing cancer. However, flaxseed oil contains no lignans.
While you wait for an appointment consider drinking plenty of water, pineapple juice, plenty of assorted fruits and vegetables, and maybe zinc tablets, or a good all round multi-vitamin containing zinc, cod liver oil or flaxseed oil capsules. I know that what I read said I should only take EPO from AF to O, then switch to flaxseed oil. Is there a particular website you got this info from? If so, could you leave me a note on what it is?
The author speculated that the lignans in flaxseed are a major component of its anti-cancer effects and that the lack of lignans in most brands of flaxseed oil may explain why flaxseed oil is not beneficial. Until we know more about the risk flaxseed oil appears to present, I recommend that men avoid it, or at least stick to brands that put the lignans back in. Flaxseeds, however, present no danger to men.
I also have my DH taking coenzyme Q10, maritime pine bark, l-glutimine, flaxseed oil, and a regular mens multi-vitamin. I may start adding saw palmetto too, as that is also good for prostate health. Give it three months (that's generally how long it take to have improvement in the sperm) and get him retested to see if there is any difference. I started taking vitamins, and Herbs Like Saw Palmetto, Niacin, B6, Flaxseed Oil, Multi Vitamin, E, Pygeun, Pumpkin Seed, Lycopene, Beta Sitosterol, and the problem has went away. But I have noticed lately see me and my wife want a child and we went to a fertility clinic and they said the only problem they saw was our vitamins were deficent. But I have noticed that since I started taking these my seman has went from thin and clear white to thick and deep white. Is this normal?

What is true is that the Omega 3 in flax seed oil is different from that in fish oil, and flax seed oil contains more than just omega 3 oils, whereas most fish oil is artificially purified to eliminate many other beneficial oils that would also be a fish. Since you can get cold processed organically grown flax, whereas fish are contaminated pretty much everywhere now, and for vegetarians, flax is a good source of oil, but for a diabetic, fish oil probably would be a good choice.

Provide him with a diet that is still enjoyable while being heart healthy, a regular exercise regime that you participate in with him for support and accountability, quitting cigarettes (not easy from what I understand), and taking flaxseed oil capsules and magnesium- for blood pressure and mood. I have 4 cups of green tea daily, 1 tablespoon of organic flaxseed oil, 1000 IU of Vitamin D, almonds, lots of fibre (psyllium husk) and really try to cut back on sugar and white carbs, while doing some form of good exercise daily. Mind you, I have no urinary symptoms whatsoever. Not particularly frequent, no pain in that area, no burning....pretty much normal. Prostate seems normal (I'm a male in my mid 40s). Anyhow, the Doc said it was a longshot but maybe it is prostate related. So for 5 days now I've woken with absolutely no flank pain whatsoever.
