Flaxseed meal toddler constipation

Common Questions and Answers about Flaxseed meal toddler constipation

flax-seed

Avatar f tn Is the "flaxseed meal" you speak of come already ground up? I have read that flaxseed does no good unless it's ground up.
Avatar f tn A couple of members have mentioned using activated charcoal for the really bad gas. Most gastro doctors tell people to use psyllium fiber, like Metamucil. I have had to use other fibers, like flaxseed meal. It's true that you need to build up slowly how much fiber you use, especially when your system is obviously sensitive already. Like sparkle40, I can't use the wheat bran either. My gastro doctor mentioned Metamucil and the like to me.
Avatar f tn About 18 months ago I was diagnosed with Constipation type IBS. I have been constipated most of my life and no matter how much fruit, veg and fibre I eat, nothings helps. As a ruslt of the diagnosis I now take Movicol (primary ingredient Propyrthylene glycol), I am suposed to take this twice a day, but because I worry about taking stuff too often, I now only take one sachet every other day, or once daily if it gets bad again.
Avatar f tn I do alright using flaxseed meal rather than the psyllium based fibers that you mentioned. I can use just a little in water, like the fiber drinks, or just sprinkle a little on my food. It's an actual food product and it has nutritional benefits, like omega 3. I buy the Bob's Red Mill that is available at Trader Joe's, because it's more affordable. It's already ground flaxseed meal. I haven't heard of the Heather's Tummy Fibers, so I'll have to look for that.
1462126 tn?1285904589 Elimination diets can really help. If the psyllium fiber is too irritating, try flaxseed meal. I find it more soothing. I at least get less cramping than with psyllium. Psyllium irritates my GERD. Elimination diets don't work quickly, so a month isn't soon enough for an elimination diet, but it sure does help a lot to figure out which foods are irritating the IBS. http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?
Avatar f tn I have a fruit smoothie with flaxseed every day. Flaxseed is high in omega-3 and fiber, which both are great for pregnant women. Also up your water intake. My dr told me that normally drink 64 oz of water, but with pregnant women it should be almost double.
Avatar f tn Did your doctor run you through a series of tests to confirm this is IBS and not something else, such as the colonoscopy? If not, you should insist on it. Have you looked into food sensitivities? Something similar used to happen to me when I first learned that I had IBS. It wasn't until years later that anyone told me about the connection to food sensitivities. Try researching information about the food elimination challenge diet.
Avatar f tn I can relate to some of this, because I have the same kind of IBS that you do. I don't know if I have FMS (I have the symptoms to indicate the strong possibility), but I do have CFS and MCS, so I can relate. We have a special problem, since we have many food sensitivities and allergies. I am sure you are already aware of the gluten intolerance and lactose intolerance issues, since they go with the territory. I was hospitalized with renal failure not too long ago myself.
Avatar n tn I've had that happen before. Fiber supplements will help. This is why most doctors continue to advise their patients to use Metamucil and Citracel, which are psyllium fiber based. I can't use psyllium fiber myself, since it aggravates my GERD. My naturopath said this is actually quite common with psyllium fiber. There is one other commercial product that people use that you may find easier to take, since it has no flavor of its own.
Avatar m tn Vitamin D liquid (have taken it in the past but had forgotten to take it daily), B12 (probably took too much, as I took 2,000mcg once for 4 days in a row, started eating 1 tablespoon of flaxseed meal in the morning (used to eat this all the time)...I also started seeing a PT for my plantar fasciitis. I stopped taking my probiotics yesterday because I thought maybe they were contributing to the problem? Who knows. Yesterday, I also began eating cultured coconut yogurt again.
Avatar m tn Something I have found very helpful for my IBS is the use of flaxseed meal as my fiber supplement. I noticed that a couple of other people have been mentioning this as well. If you've been using psyllium fiber, I suggest switching to flaxseed meal. I'm sure you and your mother will see some improvement in your IBS symptoms by using flaxseed meal instead of psyllium fiber. Psyllium fiber is known to be harsh and irritating to the gut.
Avatar n tn m unable to take psyllium, so I use flaxseed meal the same way as one would use Metamucil or Citricel. The flaxseed meal is also less expensive. Drink extra water with any of these fiber supplements. Many of us with IBS are gluten and lactose intolerant and don't realize it 'til we're bound up really tight like this. Gluten and lactose intolerance doesn't only cause diarrhea, it can cause constipation.
Avatar n tn I started using chlorella (a type of algae and is available in tablets at health food stores) as a stool softener and it seems to be doing the job. I use flaxseed meal instead of the psyllium fiber because I also have GERD, which is aggravated by psyllium fiber, and I can add it directly to food, instead of drinking it down with water, like Metamucil. The GI said it doesn't matter which fiber is used, as long as I use a fiber, which I was doing all along anyway.
Avatar n tn When my wife was preparing for an operation, her lab work showed her liver counts to be very high, near 200. The Dr. said, many things eaten could raise these levels. They wanted to know if she had eaten cereal with flaxseed and said flaxseed could have a large effect. I mention this so you'll know if it happens to you.
Avatar n tn I buy the liquid gels and also grind whole flaxseed and mix it into a healthy smoothie drink. (Obviously, the flaxseed is to be taken orally--never directly to the eye!
Avatar n tn I found the new inulin fibers are easiest to take. Or, you can try flaxseed meal. Or, you can try Metamucil or Citracel. Just take the fiber. You need to try a laxative, too. It's not one or the other--it's both. Try Miralax. If you don't like it in water, try apple juice. I find that Miralax is suitable in plain water, though. Make sure you drink loads and loads of water.
Avatar f tn I've had trouble pooping so my stepmother recommended flaxseed. I sprinkled some on my peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Later I go online to find out that you're not supposed to eat them during pregnancy. Will this result in miscarriage? I am 18 wks 4 days.
Avatar n tn I learned about something that helps a little with the BM with constipation on the Fibromyalgia forum. One post said that women have the advantage over men in this regard, because we can reach our thumb into our vagina to help push the stool out from the inside. I thought it sounded bizarre, but when you're constipated bad enough, you'll do anything to get the stool to move out. I don't know how often is safe for the glycerin suppositories. I don't use them.
Avatar f tn I use flaxseed in a loose ground form mixed in with some yogurt on a daily basis. I started using this to benefit from the Omega-3s and to help with irritable bowel. It has really helped cut down on the gut pains. But I also soon noticed that the practice kept me more regular than anything else I've tired. I do also take a softener twice a day. As a side, I have my horse to thank for introducing me to the wonders of flaxseed.
7677085 tn?1395374075 I'm due any day now so we stocked up on banquet meals ($10 for 10) and frozen pizzas stuff like that I know it isn't the healthiest but it's the cheapest (we were on a super tight budget this month) and easiest for a new mom who isn't gonna have time or energy to cook a meal! We shop at save a lot because they have great deals!
7463033 tn?1399311106 I know thats not exactly the best thing to eat all the time since it can cause constipation but oh my goodness , seeing cheese makes my mouth water !
Avatar f tn No hes not...gerber has those toddler meals that are healthy...solid fruits cut up and veggies...
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if drizzling flaxseed oil onto salad, orange juice and other foods is OK for people with MS? I heard that flaxseed oil is supposed to help patients with MS a lot. It contains Omega 3 fatty acids.
Avatar f tn Do. Not. Take. Laxatives.
Avatar m tn I have read your post about the rice and todays meal is fixed but I am going to try it tomorrow and I will let you know Thanks for posting it,I am trying to eat better as I have had a few stomach issues lately and try to do everything the Natural way.
Avatar m tn There is a gentler fiber that I have found to be less irritating to the gut. This is flaxseed meal. I read of a woman who said that she used it much like one uses Metamucil and drinks it down first thing in the morning and last thing at night and has done so for years. Taking psyllium fiber (the main ingredient in Metamucil) wasn't helpful for her bowel troubles, but the flaxseed meal was. I find it helpful for me, too, but I simply add it directly to whatever I'm eating.
