Flaxseed meal how to make

Common Questions and Answers about Flaxseed meal how to make

flax-seed

Avatar f tn Try flaxseed meal. There is a brand called Bob's Red Mill that is already ground. If you live in an area that has a Trader Joe's store, that's a great place to get it. They sell the product cheaper than anyone else I know of. Other places will have it, too. I have seen it at grocery store chains in my own area. You can also find it at natural food stores or co-ops. I would try Trader Joes first, though. The beauty of flaxseed meal is that it is an actual food fiber.
Avatar f tn A couple of members have mentioned using activated charcoal for the really bad gas. Most gastro doctors tell people to use psyllium fiber, like Metamucil. I have had to use other fibers, like flaxseed meal. It's true that you need to build up slowly how much fiber you use, especially when your system is obviously sensitive already. Like sparkle40, I can't use the wheat bran either. My gastro doctor mentioned Metamucil and the like to me.
Avatar n tn The answer was NO flaxseed oil and yes to the B12. Just so funny to me that this question came up. I once heard "Coincedance is G-d way of staying annoymus" Lol!!
Avatar f tn Sam-E by naturemade is a helpful mood booster. Those hormonal changes can make it easy to put on the pounds. You might have to eat less or more healthy food choices that are less caloric and increase your exercise regime to fight the battle of the bulge. I wish you well in your endeavor to try to be in the best health you can get in.
163322 tn?1458676408 I am seeing a lot of questions and posts concerning how to get enough fats to go along with Incivek or Victrelis. I am not on TX (yet), but would like to offer a suggestion: Coconut Oil. My brand of choice is Nutiva, which can be purchased online at Vitacost or The Vitamin Shoppe. (I think shipping is free from the Vitamin Shoppe) Compared to butter, coconut oil is more expensive, but it is better for you. 29 ounces will cost around $17.
Avatar n tn To be effective, omega oil supplements usually have to be taken in distilled form (meaning gelcaps, not flaxseed). They are absorbed better if taken with a fatty meal.
Avatar f tn I do alright using flaxseed meal rather than the psyllium based fibers that you mentioned. I can use just a little in water, like the fiber drinks, or just sprinkle a little on my food. It's an actual food product and it has nutritional benefits, like omega 3. I buy the Bob's Red Mill that is available at Trader Joe's, because it's more affordable. It's already ground flaxseed meal. I haven't heard of the Heather's Tummy Fibers, so I'll have to look for that.
Avatar f tn thanks I did take 1 tablesppon of flaxseed oil before leaving to work and didnt plan to eat or take my morning riba till I got to work. While driving to work within 15 min's I felt the effects of the riba from last nite kick in again. Mind you I only had the flax in my system. So fat does play a big part.
Avatar f tn Take it as a supplement not as a meal. This works to lose weight if one is too fat (as a meal replacement) and will cause weight gain for those that are too thin. Contrary to what some might think, weight bearing ie weight lifting, builds muscle mass and increases weight also. This does not mean you need to look like a male body builder, but it does help with weight gain. I assume you do not want unhealthy fat gain.
Avatar f tn Remember to replace empty carbs like crackers, cakes, biscuits, or add to them with healthy higher fat foods like avocado, olive oil, flaxseed, coconut oil and cream, bone broth, nuts etc (e.g have nuts instead of a biscuit, or make biscuits out of almond meal instead, or load avocado onto crackers. Same principle, you'll be getting much needed nutrients, as well as feeling fuller for longer, needing less carbs in the long run.
Avatar m tn There is a gentler fiber that I have found to be less irritating to the gut. This is flaxseed meal. I read of a woman who said that she used it much like one uses Metamucil and drinks it down first thing in the morning and last thing at night and has done so for years. Taking psyllium fiber (the main ingredient in Metamucil) wasn't helpful for her bowel troubles, but the flaxseed meal was. I find it helpful for me, too, but I simply add it directly to whatever I'm eating.
1708784 tn?1356222414 OH yeah I for got to add that the EPO and Flaxseed says to take 3 a day but I always forgot. I only remembered once a day and I still got good results...
Avatar n tn I have been finding high fiber foods to make it worse but have since gone to soluble fiber like was suggested with Metamucil and I can feel the difference already! It's not nearly as stressful on my digestive system. Thanks!
Avatar f tn I can relate to some of this, because I have the same kind of IBS that you do. I don't know if I have FMS (I have the symptoms to indicate the strong possibility), but I do have CFS and MCS, so I can relate. We have a special problem, since we have many food sensitivities and allergies. I am sure you are already aware of the gluten intolerance and lactose intolerance issues, since they go with the territory. I was hospitalized with renal failure not too long ago myself.
Avatar n tn Eat more apples and cherries and pears. Its how I have to naturally adjust my daughters bowl movements as she has sever reflux. A softer stool keeps the reflux down.
Avatar f tn I hope it's normal bcuz Im in the same boat, but only 24weeks. I feel like I eat a meal & soon as I take my last bite Im looking for my next meal. I hve a crazy pattern of sleep bcuz I need 2 wake up & feed my belly. I thnk ur fine!
Avatar n tn Perhaps you should see a dietician to help you make good choices... And are you taking supplements? My Mom is 94 and takes: Magnesium, Cod Liver oil, Flaxseed, Apple Cider, and Milk thistle. She is healthier than I.
Avatar n tn very true every child is different..my daughter was born in 36 weeks and was only 2 kgs..the first 6 months her weight gain was good..ever since i started her with solid foods i am having a battle..she never wants to eat anything..she looks thin and i am extremely unhappy..i want her to put on a few more pounds and i am trying out a whole lot of things..i am giving her whole milk, whole milk yogurt, cheese, pediasure and even avocados occcasionally...but still not much of improvement..
Avatar f tn As to the above, good advice, but again, I'd avoid the dairy options for the reasons stated. As to the arsenic, lead and mercury, you don't know if the peanut butter or any other food you're using has it, either -- after all, these things are in the environment so they're in the water and soil. If you buy organic it's about the best you can do.
Avatar f tn One other aspect that relates to toxicity is the fact that flaxseed contains cyanogenic (cyanide producing) compounds. Their mere presence does not make flaxseed dangerous; it all comes down to the dose and the nutritional status of the consumer. Cyanogenic compounds are present in a number of other foods, and they cause problems primarily in individuals who are malnourished, particularly those who have an inadequate intake of protein.
Avatar f tn Take Magnesium Citrate 250-1000mg to start with each meal and it will cure your constipation. Start with 500mg every meal if still constipated then up the dose, but if you get stomach upset then take less.
Avatar f tn I use the Oregon Grape with each meal according to the directions on the label. I use one cascara sagrada at night to prevent constipation, so I don't have to take so much MiraLax because I feel the same way about pharmaceuticals as you do. Another good thing to do is take dietary fiber everyday. I have been using flaxseed meal and inulin fiber for dietary fiber, since I'm intolerant to psyllium fiber, such as Metamucil. Psyllium fiber irritates my GERD.
Avatar m tn m sure you and your mother will see some improvement in your IBS symptoms by using flaxseed meal instead of psyllium fiber. Psyllium fiber is known to be harsh and irritating to the gut. Whereas flaxseed meal is soothing and calming to the gut. I add it directly to my food. I find that it has a pleasant nutty kind of flavor, which is great, since I do miss the taste of nuts, since I've developed nut allergies.
Avatar f tn I asked my doctor (RE) about taking 81 mg of baby aspirin to encourage blood flow to the uterus but she said the effects are not proven and therefore she does not use it in her practice. I'd still like to try it, however..particularly because my menses was especially "clotty" this month (sorry tmi!). But I also take flaxseed oil and I want to make sure that taking both of these won't be an issue. I'm on my 4th round of clomid 100 mgs, days 3-7 with progesterone supps.
1100598 tn?1413127426 I have tried adding a bit of Natural Balance wet food to her evening supper and make sure to change the water daily, hoping the added moisure will help with hairballs, but nothing is helping. I don't really know what else to do. If I put her on a food with grains, she barfs it up, but if I keep her on the grain free she gets really bad hair balls and vomits up hair balls and food. :( Now she has these sores on her skin.
