Flax seed expiration

Common Questions and Answers about Flax seed expiration

flax-seed

i just started treatment with telaprevir, and have used flax seed oil for the fat on one dose and will use it again. the problem with flax seed oil is it goes rancid really fast. so if you are going to use it make sure you buy from a very reliable source that refrigerates the oil and check the date. yesterday i bought an 8 ounce bottle of barlean's flax oil that was pressed on 9/15/10 with an expiration of 3/15/11. so make sure it is supper fresh. rancid oil will cause liver damage.
The date pressed and a freshness date of four months or less from the pressed date should be on the label. If not, don't buy it! * Do not use flax seed oil beyond its expiration date since the oil will turn rancid. Essential fatty acids are not the only element needed when addressing Attention Deficit Disorder ADHD nutrition. Amino acids, from which protein is made, are an integral element since amino acids and essential fatty acids are both needed to work in the body.
My experimentation with PPC is coming to a quick end, and now, after doing some research on 'oil filled caps' going rancid, believe this may be a regular problem with fish oils, flax seed oil, primrose, etc. Seems the literature claims that oil caps can go bad rather quickly after being manufactured, and should be refrigerated at the very least. My confidence in their effectiveness and safety is diminishing.
He suggested we continue with the cod liver oil but also to add Flax Seed Oil to his diet as this helps at times and it doesn't matter how much of this is in his system. I then went to GNC to get some and they told me that the fresh oil that is in their refrigerated section and has an expiration date on it is best. This oil is unfiltered and doesn't have anything artificial in it. I have not gotten any of this yet as they were out that day but I fully intend on getting some and trying it.
Also a heart healthy omega product such as salmon oil or flax oil is good. If you exercise and sweat a lot then perhaps other things can be of benefit. Check with a knowledgable dr., nutritionist etc. I hope this helps. Good luck everyone!
