My first pregnancy they forced me to get the epidural cause my blood pressure was to high to the point I could have a seizure. Will my second pregnancy be the same as my first?
I had a seizure at work about 2 weeks ago, there is no history of seizures in my family and since that has happened I have felt great. I have been under alot of stress lately as my mother-n-law passed away unexpectedly 2 months ago and then my daughter was hospitalized 3 weeks ago for her Crohns disease which ended up progressing, besides that over the past 2 years I have lost my house, lost my job well I finally found one a couple of months ago, so I think I have been totally stressed out.
I am 51 and am very frightened as last week I suffered my first ever seizure. It lasted about 30 seconds and I was just apparently staring glassily at my husband after shaking. I have been told I won't be able to drive for a year. My CT scan was clear though.
I'm asthmatic as well, and at the time of seizure had been in intense pain from a urinary tract infection.
Our 4 year old Aussie just had a first seizure this morning. I have dealt with seizures before in another dog, but the aftermath of this is very different and hard. The jerking and then the stiffness lasted about 5 minutes or so, but when he started to come out of it and relax, he jumped up and started barking fiercely at us like he didn't know us. We got the other dogs out of the room in case of agitation or attack.
So my cycles are normally 30 days but last one was only 26. So unsure if this cycle late yet or not. I'm on day 29 right now. I had pms symptoms in the 2 week wait n had some light cramping on day 27 of cycle thought for sure AF had shown up. Now I have no symptoms n still no AF. Took a dollarama test today n it says negative. Ne one else have this happen n end up with a positive a lil later?
My neurologist said topamax was too dangerous. So with my first pregnancy i did have a seizure at like 4 weeks and I still kept on taking my medicine (carbatrol) afterwards. All came out fine with baby. Hes now 4 yrs old and now on my second pregnancy at 29 weeks and the baby is very healthy as well. We cant stop medicating ourselves its worse to actually have a seizure but it all depends on your doctors opinion. Hope my info helped a little bit.

Last year after marriage the frequency increased. Thrice in 3 months. We went to a different doc. He said that he had primary generalized seizure or a right right frontal focus with hemispheric bisynchrony. He also said that carbamazepine is not right medication for it so slowly changed it to kepra. My husband dint have seizures for 5 months. After carbamazepine was completely stopped and he was completely on kepra , he got seizure. He takes 3700 MG ok kepra per day.
Having a seizure for the first time is very frightening. I too had a seizure for the first time in 2009. My seizures are complex and some of the symptoms your experiencing may be from a fear of having another seizure. With that said, you should see a Neurologist who specializes and treats epilepsy to make sure these symptoms are not different kinds of seizure or symptoms of epileptic discharges.

Hello, I am a first time pregnant mom to be at 35 and I have some complex med problems that require maintenance meds. I'm epileptic with a small brain tumor and taking Lamotrigine, which I know isn't great for the baby. But I'm low dose (200 mgs a day) and a seizure will most likely cause more injury to the baby than stopping. I also have an anxiety disorder and chronic pain due to a failed knee surgery a few years ago.
I'm 30 weeks and so very excited but along with the building excitement comes many MANY worries. I'm 18 and my fiancé is 20. We've been together since he was 17 and he's truly an amazing man. We have our own place so our baby has his own room! He's the only one who works because back in march I was diagnosed with Epilepsy. I haven't had a seizure for my entire pregnancy so the Epilepsy isn't much of a problem.
Then in the early evening, he had a major seizure. This time, he had three of them in a row, and afterward, was back to lethargic. As money is tight because of Christmas, we had no money to take him to the vet until today. He has been lethargic ever since Saturday morning, will only eat beef and rice that I make him and not much of it, he's drinking some water and using the bathroom outside like normal, but all he wants to do all day is sleep. It's very sad. Sooo not himself!
