Anyway, this year, we decided it was time for me to have surgery on my neck and that I must end my daily use of fioricet. She said that she felt I could just stop taking while I was recuperating and on the pain meds for after surgery (demerol). I haven't had fioricet for 3.5 weeks now and am down to taking 1 or 2 demerols a day and am working on cutting them out completely (only have 7 left and refused to ask for more). However, it seems I am feeling a bit anxious and jittery inside.
and they always ask me if there is anything going on blah blah blah well my last appt i told them about the bad headaches ive been having and bc they havent let up and actually have gotten worse they gave me a script for fioricet or however you spell it. Im supposed to take it as needed but im a little scared. It says its a class c pregnancy med and it just makes me nervous. Is anyone taking it now or taken it with a previous pregnancy?
The company doc prescribed fioricet. Is fioricet ever indicated or used in the treatment of carpal tunnel? I cannot find one piece of literature to support this use of fioricet, online. Have been looking for hours. She is already on an antidepressant. This drug scares me. E.R. Docs gave her hydrocodone, and she took 17 in just two days! I got tvto surgery one week ago and was prescribed the same, hydrocodone. I still have 16 left. Daughter has no history of drug abuse.
What can I do for my pressure headache? I have been prescribed Fioricet andit usually works, but sometimes it doesn't. What can I take as an alternative? I have been suffering now for 3 days and just cannot take it any more.

I take (and abuse) fioricet with codeine capsules... Bultalbital is the generic name.... I do not know how much codeine is in each capsule, but I know one should NEVER take more than ten in 24 hours due to respitory depression which can cause death...
Make sure you are taking some great vit/min as we have to replenish what we have lost during our drug use. I cam clean off of 3 meds back in 2012, but I will let the ones who have experience with this drug help you. I will be back when it gets going. There are TONS of changes that have to be made with Addiction. Plus it takes time for the Brain Chems to balance back after the physical w/ds.

I just found out I was pregnant.... I quite the fioricet cold turkey and went through the withdrawals. But I am so scared that I have hurt the baby! I have read that this can cause birth deffects and tumors in a baby! I didn't know if any one had any knowledge on this.
Im not sure whats going on, but what i do know is that is not good. Im sure if I take the Fioricet I have in my kitchen it will all go away.. im sure. but after reading your responses in this Forum, i know I shouldnt. On the other hand, I read on the Forum that I cannot withdraw Fioricet on my own, all of the sudden ,because it will cause me seizures.. The next appointmet for my doctor is in about 3 months! :( please any advise!
I've been taking 3 fioricet a day for the past 6 years. If I stop taking them what can I expect? I don't want to have a heart attack/seizure. I'm out so I cant taper. Worried.
you should not take fioricet if your trying to conceive..the components in this med has shown to increase the risk of brain tumors and birth defects. (google fioricet and pregnancy) Since you could be pregnant at any time..it is just not a good idea to take anything,especially without consulting an OB..
I have a friend who has been sporadically abusing ambien and fioricet (not at the same time.) This was actually something both of us got into together, though I have been much much better about cutting down/ stopping. she however has not. To my knowledge she is taking about 60mg of ambien for about 4 nights at a time and then won't take it again till her next script is due (usually a week or two later.
I'm in the same boat as you. In fact my alt, ast had dropped to the 20's my first month of tx. My 13th week and they are higher now than when I started tx, alt 64 ast, 55. Like you I am very concerned, but they keep telling me not to worry about it because it could be caused by a lot of things. Well that sure doesn't make me feel any better.
I noticed your on synthroid and I am too and having thyroid problems while on tx.
I have used fioricet w/codeine off and on for the last 5-6 years. This past year my use has gotten completely out of control. I started with regular fiorinal/fioricet 30+ years ago for headaches and used it when I found doctors who would precribe it. I have some other meds--tramadol, Loratab but I never use them because they don't help my headaces and I don't like them like I do the fioricet w/codeine.
However, I have just learned that the barbituates in Fioricet are actually bad for headaches, causing rebound headaches, and decided to stop. I reduced to 2 pills a day and then the last few days had zero pills. Suddenly, I felt the worst anxiety I have ever felt in my life. It was like a panic attack that wouldn't quit. I have read that severe anxiety can be a symptom of withdrawal from Fioricet. I don't abuse this drug and never considered that my body was dependent on it.
good for you. you are doing this the right way...gettig honest is your best chance at getting clean...tell them the whole truth and be done with this nightmare...good luck and let us know how it goes.
I started going through what I believe are withdrawl symptoms because of my alchohol and fioricet use (abuse). I drink 2-3 glasses of white wine every night and end up taking one fioricet in the morning to combat my headache and sluggishness from the wine the night before. Sometimes, I might take another fioricet if my headache returns in the afternoon, but that is no more than maybe once a week. I took my fioricet as ususal yesterday am and again in the afternoon.
It is the chemicals in the pill that are so addictive, and much more powerful than are brains. Our need to use is so great we cannot stop ourselves.
One thing you asked are you still and addict and I know you don't want to think so, but yes you are a addict. You are abusing your drugs right, so that proves it. Your best bet is to accept it and then move on and try to get and stay clean, because yes one day you might overdose.
