Fioricet capsules

Common Questions and Answers about Fioricet capsules

oxycontin

Does anyone know how Fioricet shows up on a urine drug screen? It says that it is acetaminophen, butalbital, and caffeine. What is butalbital? Is that something that would show up on my urine drug screen for my pain management doctor? I found a couple from a couple of years ago and didn't want to take them if they would mess up my test....
only of convincing people to give the pills to me even as early as 11 years old. so anyway...about 2 or 3 years ago (i'm 24) i got a doc to prescribe fioricet. for those who don't know, it's the same thing with butalbital but it doesn't have the codeine and it has tylenol instead of asprin. this was EXTREMELY stupid. i still don't know why i did it. i guess because it was always in the back of my mind and i usually made it clear to new docs about my previous addiction...
By the end of a week I get a bus from the Ecedrin. I always wish it was fioricet but I do survive without them. When I have fioricet I give them to by boyfriend so he can help me to not take them all at once. If I can do without them anyone can!
My DOC is fioricet. It's so horrible because it's so wonderful damn it !!!! Do I have any company out there ? Maybe we can help eachother... Thanks in advance for any and all posts.
Hi There and Welcome to the forum. There are many of us fioricet addicts here. I have been addicted to fioricet for over 20 years on and off. We used to have a long thread on this site but it got deleted. The thread pretty much told all of our stories. I don't want to go into too much detail about my experience except to say that I got started the same way you did. I would take the pills when I didnt' have a headache thinking I could avoid one.
I just joined today and after reading old threads about getting off Fioricet and/or Fiorinal (Butalbital compound) WITH Codeine, it appears I'm in a minority group. I take at LEAST 8 capsules a day along with 4 30mg tabs of Codeine Sulfate - cuz the Dr who originally prescribed all of the F3 to me in the first place was concerned about the amount of Acetaminophen I was ingesting. I also take about 20 5/325mg Hydros per week and 8-10 10mg of Diazepam for sleep. I also take Amitryptaline...
I take (and abuse) fioricet with codeine capsules... Bultalbital is the generic name.... I do not know how much codeine is in each capsule, but I know one should NEVER take more than ten in 24 hours due to respitory depression which can cause death...
She is the one who introduced me to fioricet with codeine capsules.... anyway, she just called me, and told me that today she has taken about 7 fioricet wit codeine that she remembers and nine lortab 7.5 tht she can remember...she told me that she wants to just basically feel numb, and wants to take more. Of course I told her not to, and will be calling her back, but how many is TOO many?
That was almost 20 years ago, and that's how long I've been on that medication, being prescribed - at one point - 200 capsules per week of the Fiorinal/Fioricet with codeine. The Fiorinal w/codeine caused an abscessed ulcer 4 years ago and was rushed to emergency surgery. The change was then made to Fioricet with codeine, now at 100 capsules per week (14 per day), in addition to one tablet of ameproxade a day (acid reducer) for the rest of my life.
Hi all, I will apologize in advance for my lengthy post, b/c I know it will be, lol. I first began taking lortabs in 2003 after a major knee surgery (my 3rd, at the ripe old age of 28) that had a 50/50 shot of working (guess which side I l&ed on). After months of PT & meds from orthopedic surgeon, he referred me to a PM Doctor - Oh boy, I should have missed that appointment!
Fiorcet with codeine are capsules, so they cannot be cut in half. You are right, I will try to do 2 in am 1 in pm 1 in evening tomorrow to see if this is better. I just get that high from the two at a time. I guess I am going to have to face reality of not getting the high and just concentrate on getting off - it is hard to taper, but I do not see other options. No way I can go c/t. I would not be able to go to work or take care of my son.
In the meantime, ginger capsules may provide some relief. My sincere wishes for resolution of this problem, as I know from personal experience how awful this problem is. A complete liver panel might not hurt, either.
i have personally tried their power barley, protein formula, omega 3 and body calm capsules back then the body calm capsules only had 60 capsules in it. The power barley definitely provides the extra energy. I used to sleep like 5hours a night and I felt okay not very tired but when i stop taking power barley for a few weeks and i felt extremely tired when i only had 5 hours of sleep. anyway i found a store which sells their body calm product. http://www.greenformulae.
I need some advice on weaning off fioronal w asprin,,when I have a history of seizures ?? I currently take 3-4 tablets a day and for some reasons the capsules do not work for me,And acetaminophen does not work for my migraines.,The tablets are currently unavailable and I have 1 month to figure out the best way to change medications without having seizures again. I have an appointment with my doctor ,but need some idea of an effective plan..
If you're having a hard time at that dose it's likely you cut too quickly. Fioricet CANNOT be tapered quickly. The seizure threat is great although everyones' seizure threshold is different. Also, you just won't feel normal AT ALL even though you've got plenty on board. Now,here is where I must say that a Dr. should really be working you through this. He/she could offer a workable taper plan and prescribe anti anxiety meds for a short time.
Of these, Valium and Klonopin are best suited for tapering since they come in tablet form. Librium is also an excellent detox benzo, but comes in capsules, making it hard to taper the dose. Ativan or Xanax should only be used if you can't get one of the others. 2. Imodium (over the counter, any drug or grocery store). 3. L-Tyrosine (500 mg caps) from the health food store. 4. Strong wide-spectrum mineral supplement with at least 100% RDA of Zinc, Phosphorus, Copper and Magnesium.
120 mg per day *Ginger: 500 - 3,000 mg per day (using ginger capsules or tablets) *5-HTP: 200 – 900 mg per day *Borage seed oil: 1,500 - 3,000 mg per day (alternatives: evening primrose oil and blackcurrant seed oil) *Progesterone (Many women experience migraines as a result of estrogens dominance): ¼ to ½ teaspoon of progesterone (cream applied topically) on day 12 through to day 26 of the menstrual cycle *Calcium (especially when consumed in conjunction with vitamin D): 1,000 - 2,000 mg
Who is the dumbass who suggests using another "opiate" to taper off fioricet? hahahahah Is this "The Gong Show" or what? Fioricet is NOT even remotely related to opiates!! And using Xanax is so highly addictive, even doctors advise using valium over that for tapering anxiety! Puhleeeeeessssss!
Lortab, Percocet, Fioricet w/ codeine, Tylenol 3 and even Darvon and Ultram. Of course, I don't ALWAYS have access, because I refuse to get it off the street. But i'd say probably 20-24 days out of the month, i have SOMETHING. As far as doses go, again, it just depends on what I have. If i have plenty of my DOC, I take 30mg of hydrocodone per dose, 3 times a day. But lately, I find myself chasing tramadol as if it's gold.
I dont know this for sure, but I believe that the addictive part of fiorinal / fioricet is codeine. If this is the case, then you can expect the regular 5 - 7 opiate WD if you stop cold turkey. Body aches and mood changes are both WD symptoms. A gradual taper is safe and so is cold turkey. As difficult as it is, there are many success stories here, proving that it can be done. Good Luck!!
Just so you know....a seizure can occur up to two weeks after abruptly stopping the Fioricet.
I took Fioricet plain for too many years. I no longer use it and will never touch it again. I'd rather eat glass. That's how horrible I know it is. Also,a word of caution: Ambien is NOT a drug you want to take while on Fiorinal with or without codeine. Try to seek other ways to achieve sleep. Maybe Melatonin and Valerian root. Both OTC's. Don't even get me started on Tramadol. LOL It's nasty stuff and not a train you want to jump on. It's an opiate WITH an antidepressant component.
I have been taking about 6 Fioricet with codeine per day for seven years!!!!!! The last two years I have tried many times to taper on my own and just did not have the strengh to do it. Anyway, I have been tapered in a matter of only four weeks, which personally, I think has been too quick. I have no more pills, but the doc has given me Klonopin, Nueronton and Vistoral, which I have been gradually upping the dose as I have tapered, per his instructions.

Pretty catchy name! They'd sell a bunch of Fioricet at raves if they renamed it that. I don't think the recipe as such would help with fioricet WD. However, I know they detox barbiturate addicts with Valium and benzo addicts with Phenobarbital. Benzos, barbs and alcohol have similar effects on the brain. When I would run out of Vals, I'd hit up my doctor for Fioricet. The butalbutal would make me forget all about any benzo WD.
they have a tincture that is good and capsules work well w/ nettle too. i tried the tea and the taste was awful to me.
When one has been using F#3 for over 12 years - at the rate of 30 to 48 capsules per day - you bet you need a detox ward! One could have a stroke and/or heart attack from the physical withdrawal. And guess what they use to detox you - a barbiturate! This isn't funny stuff my friend - F#3 worked better than anything I'd ever used for Migraines, but it's also highly addictive. And because it contains butalbital and codeine, you get the double whammy of an opiate and a barbiturate.
Next, get rid of the the Fioricet with codeine. You can cold turkey from the codeine but NOT FROM THE FIORICET. You need to taper the Fioricet slowly over time. You need to let your doctor know and seek his/her advice. Please don't say you can't because you can. This stuff will hurt you in the long run. Five years will turn into 20!! You need help with this so please call your doctor. You cannot stop this cold turkey!!! Taper down the plain Fioricet with a doctors' help.
4. I would be forever grateful for any insight. ME: I am a 43-year-old female with lots of neck and head pain, very stressful life (self-employed, single mom/no support of any kind, **** HMO) RELEVANT MEDICAL BACKGROUND: * Car accident 26 years ago (age 17) that I learned 1 year ago apparently left a fairly sharp "westward V" (pointing to my right) in my spine around T-1 and T-8 (logical to me as it could correspond to point of impact); doc thinks scoliosis.
