Fingernails turning purple

Common Questions and Answers about Fingernails turning purple

nail

Hi, occasionally my finger tips go a very dark purple along with my fingernails, with the middle finger going white as skin looks just after it has been under pressure. The fingers do not feel cold, but feel slightly numb, but when I put them to my face I feel that they are freezing cold. I've heard that this is bad circulation, but I'd like to know if I should be worried at all or if there's anything I can do. http://img377.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hand1mp5.jpg http://img294.imageshack.
Hi there. It is common for fingernails to have purple creases during any type of chemotherapy, not only with Taxol. However, the entire toe, with the skin and all, turning purple may not be entirely explained by Taxol neuropathy. Neuropathy can affect the blood vessels in these areas that can give rise to that purple color.

Dizziness and extreme exhaustion upon standing for a couple of months (but this {so far} doesn't happen when my heart rate is really low) Exhausted in general for months Fingernails turning purple-ish at random times for months Don't know if it's relevant, but woke up after an hour of sleep to find that I was laying on my left arm wrong, so it fell asleep - but the numbness and tingling didn't go away for about 20 minutes.
* shortness of breath if I am laying down standing up, any position really. * Fingertips turning a dark red/purple around cuticles (related to breathing) * Feeling of a tightness in my chest that won't let me breath past a certain point. * Heart racing after walking across the room * pain in arm, feels like all of the muscles are torn loose from my arm and then radiates into the shoulder, but after a couple of minutes will stop. Happened about 3 times or so in the past few weeks.
But I do have some pulmonary problems, shortness of breath, fingernails turning purple and bluish colors, tiredness after very little activity(normally I am very active with Martial Arts, etc.)and pain in side of neck and arm, etc. They are looking for asthma, or Pulmonary vascular disease, etc. These are the ones that the dr. told me. I am wondering if when the pulmonary problem is gone if this could be the reason for the seizures?

Itchy rash sounds like eczema, don't know bout the turning brown part, tho. Put some vaseline on it after you shower, before you dry off. Eczema needs to be kept moist, the vaseline seals the moisture in.
Sometimes, its hard for me to recover from a chilly area. I have turned blue in 70 degree weather and was shaking violently. My fingernails also turned blue. When I was in middle school, an administrator saw me like this and demanded I go to the nurse because he thought I had a high fever, but my temperature was normal. More recently, I turned blue and coworkers thought I wasn't getting enough oxygen but I got it tested and it was 100% saturated.
It was twice as fat as my other pinkie. I used ice, pressure, elevation. My whole finger turned purple. It is now 4 days since it happened and it is back to normal size but still discolored and tender. Since I work in medical, I will ask about it. Per web search, suspect conditions are high blood pressure and liver dysfunction... as far as I know, neither of these are the case. I am 60 and take no meds.
For about the past 2 years, I've been experiencing bruises that are dark purple and then seem to "bleach out" after a couple days or so. At about that same time, the intense itching occurs with a red bumpy raised rash that takes up the exact size/shape of the original bruise. It seems that once I start scratching it at all, the more intense the itching becomes. In February of 2007, I fell with all my weight on my left knee in a kneeling position.
By Wednesday night my palms were bright red, hot, swollen, so itchy and my finger tips were turning purple. I took a couple Benadryl so I could drive home from work. Waking up on Thursday morning at 5am, I started crying because my palms itched so bad, like nothing I have ever experienced in my 50 years. I ended up going to Urgent Care and the dr told me that there were a lot of people coming in with itching over various parts of their bodies from the flu shot.
It is on my inner right thigh (like panty line) Wonderful place to have someone looking around at. It is pretty small but it is really dark purple right now and looks like it is filled with something. The weird thing is that is gets small and then big and small again and now it is purple. Weird I just want it removed. So I will fill you guys in when I have it removed. I think it is either an infected piece of hair or an infected zit. Either way I don't want it there anymore.

The itch was excrutiating and when I scratched my head they got under my fingernails. My fingers looked like sausages from all the bites and I took a look in the mirror and my eyes and lips were horribly swollen with red splotches on my face. I couldnt see any of these biters, even with that many. The itch lasts several minutes and the swelling was gone by morning when they departed. I've had to close up my home to keep them out after spraying bug spray and washing the curtains.
The first 2 -3 months, it all seems to be helping greatly, but these past 2 months, it's like I am not taking anything at all. And now, the skin under my fingernails are splitting and drying and painful. All of this is related to the arthritis as well. So if any of you find relief, post it. I need it.
I unenthusiastically carried on nevertheless, and was drawn to the Wikipedia link for their definition of RSI, of which I had avoided all this time. Little did I know that this would be the turning point of my ordeal. Just as I finished reading the 'ever-so familiar' Wikipedia definition, I was drawn to an external link at the foot of the page (no longer there) called 'Rachel RSI' .My girlfriend is called Rachel which is what drew me to it.
pains in the left forearm, pins and needles within the left hand, heart palpitations, irregular heart rate and slow heart rate, anxious feelings, pondering on life's purpose and meaning, looking at past decisions that brought me to this point in life, red colour near the base of the fingernail and red colour appearing on the white half-moon at the base of the fingernails.
If I continue to lay on my back and go back to sleep I've gone right back into it, but had no reoccurance when turning on my side. I also would like to add that I haven't had one of these episodes in years, but I have started to wake up, while laying supine, needing to take deep breadths not having been breathing.
