I have an 8 yr old daughter who has two fingernails, one on each hand, that are not smooth, they are slightly bumby and the nail that grows out at the end is not uniform, curvy. They do not have complete horizontal ridges across them. Sort of like moguls on a ski slope. They are not discolored and it only occurs in those two fingernails.
She has had this for close to a year. She's rarely sick and if it was nail fungus I would think it would have spread to her other nails.
Post your FT4 and FT3 levels. How much Synthroid are you taking? You may need more Synthroid or some T3 like Cytomel added to your Synthroid. You still sound hypothyroid.
Also, has this doctor checked your adrenals with the 24 hour saliva test? Many hypos will have adrenal fatigue, which will also cause us to be tired. I am feeling MUCH better since starting adrenal cream.
BTW - Why are you on thyroid hormone? Hashimoto's Disease?
All of my very healthy fingernails, except two, have the semicircle of white you describe. I think this is normal, but your question has piqued my interest. I think I'll google stuff and see what I find.

It can be a simple reaction to cold weather such as going outside without gloves (vasoconstriction) up to and including issues caused by respiratory problems, eymphsema, asthma, etc... to respiratory arrest. Have been to a doctor for a physical? Or do you have a history of respiratory problems?

I have found out about psoriatic nails, found in people with psoriasis, and ridges and peeling in your finger or toenails has to do with iron. High iron manifests in skin problems, and psoriasis is common in iron disorders.

One and a half month ago, I overexercised (went running a lot more than I was used to) and when I finished, my fingernails were purple/blue. Since then, they have remained purple. A week after that I started developing many other symptoms which I'm quite sure have to do something with that.
I went through several tests including EKG, echocardiogram, xray, spirometry, CT scan and blood work. All came back normal.
My fingernails had never changed their colour before that incident.
based on my research online, the only instances I can find a brown lines on the hands and fingernails occurred in people who have parasitic infections. After contact, I am now getting the brown lines in (not under) my fingernails without injury. Also peeling between the fingers. A zinc deficiency can cause white or light yellow spots on the fingernails.

I had Restore lenses implanted in January and so am wondering whether the problems I'm having are to be expected. My distance vision is much improved although there are areas of distortion in some parts of my field of vision. I have concentric rings around lights at night which are quite distracting. I also am having problems with reading, even at the focal point suggested by my doctor with "ghost" images where there the letters seem to have a slightly offset shadow.
If HIV fluid got under your fingernails from hand-genital contact, does the virus die immediately while underneath the fingernails?
My understanding is that the virus is damaged/non infectious immediately when fluids are transferred onto the hands no matter if its under the fingernails or any other part of the hand.
I think I already know the answer but I would appreciate a response.
