Common Questions and Answers about Fingernails grow after death

nail

Avatar f tn Anyone have terrible fingernails with their VDD? I ask because for the past few years my nails have been very blah, the minute they start to grow they just split and peel. Now, I have noticed being on the VD for the past few weeks/months my nails finally seem to be growing slowly and not splitting or peeling, yet anyhow.
Avatar f tn Not sure where this question fits in - I have an 8 year old whose fingernails and toenails don't grow. I think I've had to cut them maybe three times his whole life. Everything else grows normally - his hair, his body (he's tall for his age)...Not sure if this is something to worry about. Thanks for any input.
Avatar f tn Has anyone else on infergen or peg, noticed nails seem to grow faster? I also have this feeling like there is something under my nails, but there isn't. I keep picking at them. Also there is this sensative feeling, not sure how to describe it on my hands. I have picked up this nervous habit of running fingers over nails!
Avatar f tn I'm a 50 year old woman and my fingernails have begun to curl as they get longer?
Avatar n tn The second possibility would be the finger having been hit and sustaining some damage that causes the nail to grow looking different. Next set of suggestions is along the lines of a zinc deficiency. Though the way a zinc shortage appears in the nails more often is ridging or flaking, they can also apparently come out orange. You could try increasing your zinc intake. (If you take a supplement, don't go wild and take too much; just one a day.
Avatar f tn re doing (positively) health-wise post treatment may not show up in your hair, skin and nails to up to a year to a year an a half after your treatment. My wife (a nurse) mentioned you practically grow a new body in 18 months relative to skin cells, etc. You are what you eat and how you exercise. Hang in there and give your nails some time. http://www.normanallan.com/Med/askdr/horizontal.
Avatar f tn This is so frustrating! I can't grow my fingernails out at all, because when I do, parts of my fingernails 'droop' over the tip of my fingers. It's not the entire nail -not like a club nail- it's just parts of the nail. Parts of the nail are straight while other parts of the same nail 'droop.' The mail becomes 'wavy.' Almost as if parts of the nail are stronger than the rest of the nail. All of my fingernails are like this.
Avatar m tn i am 17 this year and i am currently scared to death about my current problem . My boyf and i both agreed not to have sex before marriage . so one day , we were messing around and he fingered me . before that , he touched himself and i think there was a little pre-*** on his fingers. he fingered me like a minute later but he told me he had already wiped his hands on his pants before fingering me .
Avatar f tn After I had dental cleaning and fluoride treatment I noticed these brown streaks in five of my fingernails. My thumb actually has two of these streaks. The streaks are from beginning of nail to the free edge. Anyone else ever see this?
Avatar m tn I went to the dermatologist and they prescribed Penlac to treat the nail fungus. After using Penlac for a while I noticed that it was not working for me. After that, I went back to the dermatologist and they did a culture and they said it was a fungus. I have visited several dermatologists over the past few years and they have prescribed many topical creams for the nail and nothing seems to work. Things have gotten worse.
Avatar f tn This question is one I have not been able to find any answers to using general search engines. My fingernails are pretty normal looking in that they are a healthy fleshy pink shade and have always been very strong and resistant to breakage. However, I notice that when my nails grow to a certain length, the white tips turn completely transparent.
Avatar f tn You could use a nail polish to cover it up, sometimes as the nail starts to grow the streak tends to grow with it and finally would disappear. Just don’t worry, try to relax. If it persists even after a month or two then meet a dermatologist for further management.
Avatar n tn Well Yesterday I was with This guy i know very well and we got carried away and he started fingering me, I'm fine with this as i have been fingered, and fingered by him before.(still a virgin though) However, this time we had a bit more of a, say, longing for each other, so he was rougher with me and ended up fingering me for a very long time.

Avatar f tn Ive seen it with kids who bit their fingernails like they bite them too short so the skin just grows in front of it. But ive never seen it on newborn toenails.
Avatar f tn Yes! I just chopped off my long hair, and it's already starting to grow a lot. Plus, I find myself needing to shave my legs/underarms more... Often I'm too lazy to do it, though.
Avatar m tn I am experiencing different symptoms 2-3 months after; Cold sores, swollen glands and red tenderness with some skin peeling around my fingernails. I'm worried to death, but I know I have to wait 3 months to get tested. Just kinda wondering what my odds are I guess. I hope you can reasure me somehow. Please let me know.
Avatar n tn Hi, please tell me what can have caused my fingernails to get purple/bluish after one day of running much more than I was used, on July 14th. Since then, my fingernails stayed purple/bluish. I have gone through EKG, echo, xray, CT scan, blood work and spirometry test, all came back normal. What other tests can I take?
Avatar f tn Birth control could be a reason for intermittent bleeding after sex. The various other causes for vaginal bleeding after sex are injury and friction (this you rule out), STDs like Chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomoniasis, cervical polyps, yeast infections, non specific vaginitis, endometriosis, cervical dysplasia which is a precancerous condition, uterine polyps, uterine fibroids and cervicitis. None of them are conditions that should be ignored.
Avatar f tn When she was 4, all of the bases of her fingernails started to disappear. There was no nail growing. After a couple of months, her nails began to grow again. The doctor said it was probably from a fever she had weeks prior. Now, she has the same problem happening to her left thumb. There is a large circular area at the base of her thumb nail that is void of nail. She went to the doctor yesterday and they said they have no idea why it did that.
Avatar n tn My fingernails are coming away from the skin just slightly down from the whites and I wonder if I've over-manicured or could it be a fungal growth? I now have to scrub my nails at least once a day as there is always a line of dirt regardless of how I've used my hands. I've tried soaking them in warm soapy water but this has absolutely no effect, the line of dirt appearing to be steadfast. If I leave them the dirt just mounts up, which not only looks disgusting but feels it also.
