Avatar m tn On and off for the last three years my fingernails have been turning completly white, only to retain its pinkish color and return white again. During these times when my fingernails turn white I feel like I'm going to get the flu, but never quite do and lasts for a couple of weeks accompanied by fatigue. For the last 6 months I have had loose stools just about everyday. Doctors ran blood test and didn't find anything.
Avatar f tn I have these white lines on my fingernails that run parallel to the cuticle. They have areas in the white line that are heavier and make the line look like a spot. They cover the nail in it's entirety. I have taken zinc for year now with no real change. I am concerned about taking too much zinc since it was removed from some dental products. My hypoyroidism is controlled with medication. I do not suffer trauma to my hands. I am 55 yes old and have had these for as long as I can remember.
Avatar f tn I tell ya people, I am totally exhausted, my face is scary pale and my fingernails are so dry they are ridged and peeling away faster than I can actually clip them off. (ouch!) Have any of you had labs/findings with any similarity? I want to ask the Online Doctor but he wasn't open for business today.. I would love your help.
745313 tn?1323142298 I knew about the thinning hair, which I am experiencing to a much, MUCH worse degree than I expected (but hey, it's summer!! ) But I have never read anything about tx affecting your fingernails. It only makes sense, as they are both made of the same thing - but has anyone else had this problem? Mine are awful! They are like paper, thin, peeling, and constantly ripping, even though they are cut completely short.
1467200 tn?1311259436 Normal TSH 1.28 but low T4 0.56. Have hair falling out, fatigue, depression, insomnia, fluid retention, numerous headaches, brittle fingernails, and fibromylagia. Am on Lyrica and Cymbalta. do you think that this could be hypothyroidism?
Avatar n tn Hello, You seem to be having onychomadesis which is separation and falling off of a nail from the nail bed. Common causes are trauma to the nail, localized infection, nail fungi, allergy to nail enhancement products or some systemic illnesses. My sincere advice is to consult a dermatologist and get a histopathological examination, culture and biopsy of the skin around the nails and the nails done. Hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn I have no diagnosis, let me say first off. I have quite frequently over the past year + that I've been on this adventure had what feels like an electrical current running through my finger tips. It does not hurt; it's just extremely wierd. I also get it in other areas as well - along my lower leg, shoulder muscle, etc. Not a clue what it is, but at least you know you're not the only one, lol Nothing with the teeth though.
Avatar n tn 8 out of my 10 fingernails are slightly swollen and red at the cuticle pus is oozing out of a couple also 2 of them have a white patch on .
Avatar n tn Ever since I can remember, on my thumbnail and big-toe nail, there has been a strange deterioration. It looks like a series of grooves in the center of the nail (see attached pictures). My fingernails aren't weak or brittle and they're not really falling off or anything. I don't think it's anything serious, but I've always been curious what it is. If anybody could help at all, that would be great.
1674823 tn?1307263620 I have been noted to have domed fingernails but not apparently 'clubbed' They have been like this as long as I can remember What might cause domed nails but not clubbed. ???
Avatar f tn The doctor says my thyroid hormone levels fluctuates as do my symptoms. My fingernails are the worst and I am so very tired and weak. They are very soft and thin with ridges. I thought the synthyroid was supposed to help with these issues. Am I wrong and is something else going wrong This discussion is related to Fingernails indicative of thyroid problems?.
Avatar f tn Anyone have terrible fingernails with their VDD? I ask because for the past few years my nails have been very blah, the minute they start to grow they just split and peel. Now, I have noticed being on the VD for the past few weeks/months my nails finally seem to be growing slowly and not splitting or peeling, yet anyhow.
1067423 tn?1267740670 Hey there, girl.....I don't know. It sounds terrible. When I was getting chemo, I had an eruption of psoriasis and I lost my toenails and they aren't coming back....chemo ended 5 years ago. I hurt my toes all the time; but I know it would be much worse if it was my finger nails. I wish I could offer some help. Maybe someone will come along and know something helpful. Have you spoken to your doc or your chemo team about this? That's a good place to start.
Avatar m tn This caused the fingernail to bruise and eventually come off. However, it has never grown back right. It has yellowing underneath the nail, like a fungus which the dermatologist tested for and was negative, and whiteness on top where the nail looks dead, and you can see the new nail underneath. The doctor didn't think I had damaged the nail bed because it was growing out straight, but is funny looking. He prescribed a urea nail stick to aid with the fungus like matter under the fingernail.
Avatar n tn The first suggestion online is that if you are female and have been wearing an orange or red color of polish for prolonged periods, if you take the polish off you might find that your nails are stained. But with a user name that says "lad," it doesn't sound like you've been wearing nail polish. The second possibility would be the finger having been hit and sustaining some damage that causes the nail to grow looking different.
Avatar m tn The pneumonia abated and while at home I felt remarkably better. Then my girlfriend noticed my hair was falling out at an alarming rate. While looking at the hair in my hand I noticed my fingernails had no cuticles! Feet are also affected. The skin between my nails and my knuckles on the back is peeling back from the nails. What could be the problem here. No cuticles for a month is a little nerve racking. My doc (GP) and several nurses are baffled as am I.
1962464 tn?1344606673 For the past month I have been falling a lot. I will suddenly become off balance and fall forward. So far I have only received minor injuries, but am worried that I will be hurt worse at some point as I continue to have balance issues. I don't get dizzy during these spells, I just suddenly fall forward. I do have balance issues if I get up quickly but it is no problem as I just sit for a little while before getting up on my feet. I also occasionally feel dizzy when I am lying down.
Avatar n tn Has anyone with Thyroid/Parathyroid issues expienced falling off, brittle toenails? I've lost about 60% of my hair and now my toenails are brittle and some falling off; I also have ongoing night foot muscle spasms. Thyroid results (TSH, FT4, antibodies) are normal and I did have a slightly elevated PTH in the past. Any thoughts on what would be causing these symptoms?
Avatar m tn s diagnosis and consequent research gave me goosebumps comparing my own issues with his, and my family history of death from liver disease and liver cancer, and diabetes related cirrhosis, bad veins on legs, eruptions and lesions on shins and other parts opf body rashes and lesions and patches, dry skin, rosacea, psoriasis, hair falling out, eyebrows falling off, hair falling off limbs, toenail and finger nail ridges, splitting fingernails, peeling, believe me, the list is endless.
Avatar f tn I developed horizontal lines or indentations in 2 fingernails. No injury. My Dr called them Beaus lines. He says I was either exposed to a toxin of some sort or they can be a result of a systemic disease. He seemed very unconcerned. In my reading betablockers pop up as a possible cause. My question is if the betablocker caused them does that mean it is harming me? I went to my pharmacy and he said only if your heartrates slow.
