fingernails dehydration

I have a 21 month old boy that suddenly started having his nailbeds look as though they were lifting from the bases...mostly on his fingernails, some on toenails....Thank God, my son has never been sick (common colds, etc). I have taken him to a very reputable dermatologist in our area . He says "probably fungal, probably self limiting. As long as child is healthy otherwise and no other lesions on body, would 'just observe'.

I got the same stripes on my fingernails at a certain point and I could directly tie it in to dehydration - not consuming enough water. When I got more hydrated, they went away. They were striped because they were ridged. I don't know if that's the same you have...it's when I noticed I was more dehydrated than usual.

Has anyone had fingernails split down middle? What does 9,430,000 iu - 6.

I have been noted to have domed fingernails but not apparently 'clubbed' They have been like this as long as I can remember What might cause domed nails but not clubbed. ???

The doctor says my thyroid hormone levels fluctuates as do my symptoms. My fingernails are the worst and I am so very tired and weak. They are very soft and thin with ridges. I thought the synthyroid was supposed to help with these issues. I knew about the thinning hair, which I am experiencing to a much, MUCH worse degree than I expected (but hey, it's summer!! ) But I have never read anything about tx affecting your fingernails. It only makes sense, as they are both made of the same thing - but has anyone else had this problem? Mine are awful! They are like paper, thin, peeling, and constantly ripping, even though they are cut completely short.

Anyone have terrible fingernails with their VDD? I ask because for the past few years my nails have been very blah, the minute they start to grow they just split and peel. Now, I have noticed being on the VD for the past few weeks/months my nails finally seem to be growing slowly and not splitting or peeling, yet anyhow.

Hey there, girl.....I don't know. It sounds terrible. When I was getting chemo, I had an eruption of psoriasis and I lost my toenails and they aren't coming back....chemo ended 5 years ago. I hurt my toes all the time; but I know it would be much worse if it was my finger nails. I wish I could offer some help. Maybe someone will come along and know something helpful. Have you spoken to your doc or your chemo team about this? That's a good place to start.

If you dehydrate and are pregnant you can go into preterm labor. Dehydration causes contractions and u could lose ur baby if its not treated. Please see a dr. Good luck.

Anyone having issues with dehydration. Last week when I went to my ob and he said I was dehydrated but it was normal. I had to do another urine today(I work for a drs office) and she said I'm still dehydrated. I've been drinking water, not as much as I should because its hard to drink but I've dropped the soda and everything else. Idk what else to do she said drink gatorade along with water but if I don't get hydrated I'll have to have an iv. Help!!!!

Well your throat being dry or your lips that's what happens to me and that's how I know I need water , but its a must you need water at least drink 8 glasses a day !!

Dehydration could send you into pre term labor. You would know if you start having painful contractions. Just drink lots of water. If your dehydrated you wouldn't be peeing, just drink lots of water even if your not thirsty.

iM 31wks went to hospital because of contractions I thought were Braxton hick contractions , put an iv and gv me meds to stop contractions said it was dehydration I drink water all day and pee clear I doubt its dehydration, I'm still contracting probbly gona hv to go in again :/

and it might be a few days before dehydrations occurs, depends on waht you feel is causing it. massive dirreah, just not drinking TOO HOT in the nursing home. It can take a long time for a person with Alzheimers to drink.

This feeling later went away. Was this just another symptom of of dehydration or something else that I should get checked out?
