I'm a 51 yr old caucasian female and my fingernails have a tendency the curl over as they grow out. This has been happening regularly for quite a few years. If I've had my hands in water, they straighten out until they have dried, then curl again. I've been told it might be a vitamin deficiency. Can you help?

Why are they dry and brittle? Why do they curl up at the edges near the base and sometimes flip or curl upwards at the tip? Please help! Thank you.
I feel as though I'm the only one on the planet with this problem because after two days no one has even attempted to give me a diagnosis or even take a stab at a guess as to why my fingernails curl after they grow to about a quarter inch .
My cuticles are ok thanks to jojoba oil but my fingernails chip and flat out break like crazy. The are moderate in length, kind of curl under a little and the color is good but they are brittle and dry. I don't use nail polish and I buff them once in awhile for a light sheen, but that's it. What to do? I have redhead skin and not the best looking hands to begin with. I'd like to not have them all super short to nonexistent but I don't see how to avoid this.
Cramps in both feet and all toes, at times causing the toes to curl under, mostly the two toes just next to the big toe. Cramps in the instep area also. Heat will sometimes help, the legs feel cold and achy. My wrists ache more than usual. My hair is very dry and brittle, which it never has been and the texture and nature has changed.

I have white lines across the top of my fingernails, right before the nail no longer connects to the skin (or nail bed). Some of my fingernails are also starting to curl under at the ends. I've read that both of these things are a sign of liver disease. Splendid, really. My abdominal pain and soreness is worsening.
It has also become straight as a sheet of paper. It won't even curl when I try to roll it. The pain in my fingers has me to the point that I can almost not use them. I noticed that half of my fingernails don't look right. They look like maybe the nail bed(pink part) is getting smaller. My hands get red, swollen, and the viens will bulge on my nuckles. I have seen gp, neourologist, endo, oncologist, rhum, dermo, and phyc. The only doctor that believes there is a phy. problem, is the phyc.
Are your fingernails clipped close and smooth on the edges? Are you 'wet' or actually 'aroused', because simply being wet isn't really enough sometimes. Just like a penis, you have erectile tissue down there that needs to be full of blood before you'll really be comfortable/get any enjoyment out of this activity. Your G-spot, if you've been doing research, is located on the front-most wall of your vagina, just past the pelvic bone.
One day realized I could barely arm curl the 20 lbs that I did with no problem for months. I always had the blue fingernails in the cold and swollen hands/feet in the summer-was diagnosed with Reynaud's. Was eventually told I had a positive ANA but was told it could be a general inflammation-had another ANA then it was negative...can't that change? Now 6 years later...
) -itchyness all over (only usually 3 places at a time) but then when one goes away another starts -Bad bad headaches (like right behind my eyes on both sides) -fingers on right hand curling up like in a claw like look (not locked I can straighten them but when relaxed they curl up...
My once beautiful, shiny, long hair that would curl and stay curled is now dull, short (barely grows at all) lifeless, brittle and falls out so much I have to plunge my shower and sink regularly. Also, my fingernails have developed ridges in the last few years that also curl down on my index and next finger. But it's "not the Synthroid". RIGHT. WHATS WRONG WITH ME??????
My skin is sooooooooooo dry that I want to shred it off with my fingernails!! Where's that cortizone cream? errrrgggggggh!!!!

Unfortunately it's a really long name that i can't remember, but it is very common in african americans due to the curl pattern in the hair. The hair hits the under side of the skin, curls and starts growin underneith which causes the bump. I would reccoment that you use something like nair. We use magic shave for men (I have the same problem on my underarms), but i'm not sure how safe it is near your private area.
One little bit on information that I forgot which may or may not bear any meaning is my fingernails. They curl down along my fingertips.
why not bamboo shoots under the other 9 fingernails?? don't forget to heat the needle, nothing quite so exhilarating as a 'hot shot'........
-scaly skin and hive breakouts -leg pains and achy bones -insomnia -the crazies And on a vainer note, what about the thinning hair, bent fingernails, and wacky eyebrows? I finally broke down and went to get my hair cut. My stylist freaked out. We expected my hair to thin, but he was shocked that my hair has been growing in darker and completely straight for what he says has to have been 5-6 months judging by the length. My hair is normally super-duper curly.
and it is so fine now that it tickles my face so I keep it pulled back. Oh and belive it or not, I have the most awsome fingernails I have ever had! Used to do the acrylic nails for YEARS, had them taken off when I found out I had Hep C (NEVER to go to the salon again!) and had cr*p for nails for the longest time. I added a vitamin called Biotin to my morning meds and they are great! My girlfriends always ask if they are my real nails..... One more thing....
for the past month i've had what seems like muscular back pain on the right side of my back. it becomes worse when i twist my upper body to the left, sometimes extends to the front too. also had liver pains for the past 3 months since diagnosis and homeopathic treatment. for the past 3 or 4 years, i've had a problem with the finger next to the little finger(whats it called, ring finger/?).
even decided to curl my hair since I got the new haircut the other day...letting it go naturally curly all the time gets old. I want straight hair darn it! Even though it took me an hour to get ready, I feel better and am ready to tackle anything thrown at me today! Hope you're still feeling good. You should feel like you're on top of the world after what you've accomplished over the last few months!
history of eyelid swelling, pain, tenderness, swelling in muscles, small hemorrhages that resemble small splinters under the fingernails, and the conjunctivitis of the eyes. These symptoms occur a few weeks after eating the raw or undercooked meat from pork or wild animals". Babesia is caused by a piroplasma parasite that affects red blood cells, which you already knew. Mepron is used for other conditions also: "What conditions does Mepron oral treat?
Mayo clinic just came out with a study I posted here recently that would curl your hair because they apparently KNOW it is happening but have no idea how it is being transmitted to patients. There is a report showing many were infected at Kaiser in No. Cal. in 2000. I read a report recently attributing Hep C to C section births in the 80's and 90's also. Are they all lying? Nail salon solution does NOT KILL HEP C and virtually millions of women visit them.
I've got to get out to the shipyard in less than 2 hours this morning. It will not take me a long time to get ready. My fingernails are really long. At least 3 curl to the side, although I keep them filed. Maybe I should cut them before I go to the shipyard. I'll be dressing much like the others who are men. It will not be a delicate or femine job. However, it will be a challenge. I need work that pays good even if it means taking a man's job. Wish me luck.
