Common Questions and Answers about Fingernail striations

nail

Hello, Longitudinal lines across the nail can be due to vitiligo, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis and if they are dark striations then melanoma should be thought of. You should get it checked from a dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
When my scalp would start itching, I can look in the mirror to find my cheeks flushed and red thick striations (unraised) on my forehead. I can write my name with my fingernail on my arm, and about 5 minutes later a hive-like rash in that pattern will appear. If I scratch one place, a rash will appear in another. My shoulder has been painful for the past three months (after baby) and my movement is limited.
