You should get it checked from a dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis. Over the past few years I have noticed they break all of the time and they have longitudinal ridges in them that would start to split and that would make the nail break on either side of the ridge. I had to keep them real short so they would not get weird and split. I started triple med treatment Sept. 26th. I have done 24 weeks.

Avatar f tn When my scalp would start itching, I can look in the mirror to find my cheeks flushed and red thick striations (unraised) on my forehead. I can write my name with my fingernail on my arm, and about 5 minutes later a hive-like rash in that pattern will appear. If I scratch one place, a rash will appear in another. My shoulder has been painful for the past three months (after baby) and my movement is limited.

It has since continued up toward the top of the nail while changing brownish now puple with the uppermost tip is turning white. I have an appointment in October.It doesn't hurt and does not appear to look fungal according to my doctor. Is October to long to wait? I read that melanoma can develop under the nail.

Avatar m tn ve had this happen to me more than once) Any serious crunching to the nail on your finger will cause this to happen - the bruising underneath the nail is what causes it to fall off, and the bump in the middle of where the nail used to be is actually the new fingernail growing back.

Prior to moving to where I now live my nails all had this little area now 3 years later only my thumbs do. Can anyone tell me if this is something to be concerned about? Thanks for any help!!
