Avatar m tn Hence there appears a red or brown distal transverse band on the tip of fingernail. It is found in severe liver disease like cirrhosis, diabetes mellitus, congestive heart failure, hyperthyroidism, and/or malnutrition. Since your liver enzymes are normal, chances are less likely that you have terry nails. Color pattern in terry nails is fixed and it does not change with temperature. This can be confirmed by an examination from a dermatologist.
Avatar n tn Now he seems to be getting thinner. I have no idea what stage of kidney disease he is in. Can anyone help me figure it out? He eats well but is still losing weight.
5792451 tn?1390934690 I started seeing a nephrologist last year because of a cyst and scarring on my right kidney. All of my labs were perfect during my appointment last august, which is good considering I'm only 26 years old. My eGFR was 123 so my doctor told me that I had great function and he only needed to see me once a year to keep an eye on things.

474189 tn?1211184460 s disease (hypothyroidism) and as this is caused by antibodies in my blood I wanted to know if it was possible that these are what have caused my kidney disease also - cannot get any answers to link the 2 together - does anyone on here know? Would just be nice to talk to someone who is in a similar situation - hubby is being an ostrich and just wont accept the facts so no-one to talk to about it.
Avatar n tn i am assuming this wasnt as you havent mentionned anything about your egfr????? I am in stage 3 of chronic kidney disease and am only just now being sent to one. and that was only done after many poor and reducing egfr results over 12 months. I am sure if your doctor was really concerned he would have done the egfr, it is the most accurate diagnosis of kidney disease. kidney disease has 5 stages. Tell your doctor you want your egfr measured.
Avatar f tn Hello there, I was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney disease about 2 years ago and now I am in complete kidney failure. As for time no one can tell you that. But my advice to you is to take your meds as your doctor tells you and take good care of yourself. I did not follow my doctors advice and now I am on dialysis 3 times a week 4 hours a day.
Avatar m tn Hi there, Am I at risk of a serious disease if I get a very mild scratch from the fingernail of another person? It happened to me while travelling in a crowded train from an unknown man's fingernail who was standing next to me. No bleeding, just a mild scratch, with very little skin abrasion. I have had a tetanus shot in december 2010 and a three shot anti-rabies vaccination about 11 months ago. Am I ok?

Avatar f tn What really convinces Ponda that there might be a causative link between kidney disease and endotoxemia is that even in early stages of kidney disease, patients exhibit characteristics that leave them vulnerable to developing endotoxemia, including a deficit of vitamin D and a “leakier” intestinal barrier — wider gaps between cells of the intestinal wall that usually protects against intruding bacteria.
Avatar n tn Hello, The symptoms are definitely suggestive of kidney disease. You should get an ultrasound kidneys and kidney function tests done to confirm the diagnosis. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar m tn Obviously, he has severe anemia and no amount of iron will fix this kind. I have never heard of chemotherapy for kidney disease or kidney damage. I have kidney damage (kidney disease) due to an autoimmune disease. Kidney function is at 26% now, up from 20%. Autoimmune disease is in remission since I had all the mercury fillings removed from my teeth.
Avatar f tn Thank you for the response. I just did an ultrasound and the ultrasound specialist said she sees growth in my liver and gall bladder. On the 28th I will be seeing a doctor for review. I am just hoping the growth in my liver is benign. And also I hope the gallbladder is just stone. She said she doesn't see any adnormalities in my kidney.
