Why is my fingernail on my middle finger starting to pull away from my skin and turn white and the bottom half is pitting and peeling? What could this be?

I have skin that is slowly peeling off my fingers. It started on my thumb, pointer and middle fingers on both hands right at the fingernail. Really not peeling on other my other 2 fingers(ea side) No blisters at that point, just skin started to peel from the fingernail, up at the top of it and up the finger and down the back side. Both hands same fingers. Skin that peels off is soft. A few days later I did have a "blister" right in the middle of my thumb while I was in the bath.
