Avatar m tn What do the lines look like and are they colored? If you have fingernail fungus the topicals don't work. You would have to take a prescription oral drug (Lamisil) for three months then it kills the nail. I just went through this with my toe nail. The nail is usually yellowish.
Avatar m tn He prescribed a urea nail stick to aid with the fungus like matter under the fingernail. I keep it trimmed back to allow for new nail growth, but it gets to a certain point and develops this gross looking end to it. Any idea why it's taking so long for the nail to regenerate, or is this an indication of a possible underlying cause?
Avatar n tn Bacteria can keep fungus at bay, so try Buttermilk, Acidopholous pills, and yogurt. Listerine every hour usually works with my ulcers, but they aren't brought on by candida, so I don't know if it would help.
Avatar n tn Injury to nail due to trauma it self can cause the features described. With out a fungus test, woods lamp done, not safe to give internal antifungals.
Avatar f tn Cut off the loose nail portion close to the skin without cutting into the skin. A pair of fingernail nippers or fingernail scissors work best. Then brush on pure tea tree oil a couple of times a day.
Avatar f tn I have an article that tallks about misting your bird with blue listerine diluted in a spray bottle. The listerine is to kill any fungus that might be causing the feather picking. Then you follow that with a diluted aloe vera gel misting.
Avatar f tn Saw my doctor yesterday and he said he thought it was a nail fungus. He said there is a medication you can take, but it's only effective 50% of the time, and you have to take it for 3 months. He recommended soaking my toes in......are you ready? Listerine Mouthwash! He said as odd as it sounds, it works. I'm going to try it....I'd rather put Listerine on my feet than in my mouth. That is nasty as a mouthwash!
Avatar n tn The nurse had performed tests before mine..it was a busy clinic. I had a bloody fingernail, which I noticed after the test due to cold weather which was touched by the nurse. - If there was residual blood on the nurses hands (gloved or not), could this infect me via the small cut in the fingernail (minor bleeding) or even the cut caused by the fingerprick test? Patient before me was tested ~1-2 mins before. - Any reason to test? - Is this No risk?
Avatar m tn A brown or black dot or streak under a toenail or fingernail could be a blood clot, fungus infection, or possibly a skin cancer. Hence get it examined under a dermatoscope from a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
564644 tn?1216368363 Hi, This could be a fungal infection of the skin folds in between the toes called Athlete's foot. It is a common name given to a fungus infection of the skin that predominately occurs in between toes but can occur anywhere on the foot. The skin involved may be red, swollen and may contain sticky fluid. Patients may also experience a scaly dry rash on the bottom and sides of feet. Cracks or "fissures" can occur between the toes, sometimes with a accompanied soft white scale.
Avatar n tn It first started at the crown of my head. I read within this discussion that Listerine worked. Sadly after I used it, the stickiness went from the crown to the whole top part of my head. However, after I bought Paul Mitchell's Tea Tree oil shampoo from Sally Beauty Supply, about 80% of the stickiness went away! Then, a couple days later, I washed it again with that shampoo and it was gone. I honestly think that this is some kind of fungus on the scalp. Tea tree should help. Good luck guys.
850029 tn?1238857820 Does anyone know if I could put a drop or two of listerine in my dogs water? I know they have stuff specifically made for dogs but not sure what's good? I would like something that cleans and freshens. My Chihuahua has bad teeth. She's lost a few and I think brushing them would be painful for him. I've tried the stuff that you spray on them but it is extremely difficult. (I get more on his face then anywhere.
Avatar m tn Hi I just want to know what can cause some or all of these combined symptoms, Hair thinning, lost of appetite, a few dark toenails but not all of them, 1 fingernail half light pink half light brown with vertical lines no ridges, wart on ball of both feet and lately some lost of taste (I'm thinking due to thin white film on tongue) I was a Severe smoker until recently when I stopped.
Avatar f tn Hello~Your pictures did not post, however, I would see a dentist regarding this. It could be a type of fungus, digestive problem, or even a vitamin or mineral deficiency. I know sometimes a tongue as you described can mean a vitamin B deficiency, so, I would get it checked to rule out any problems.
565779 tn?1216513164 five years ago, now I have a foot fungus and toe/fingernail fungus. I have also been finding these tiny black things, the size of a pinhead all over my skin, some are even going into my fingernails, as well as my skin. Is this another type of fungus, or do I have some strange bug inside of me? Also does anyone notice a gross odor from the nail fungus? Are people with Hep. C prone to fungi infections?
Avatar m tn wow so drs think its a fungus not bacterial did they make you rinse with peroxide and water yet or antibiotics, if not ask dr .
Avatar f tn First, wash your hair with SUAVE clarifying shampoo (fairly cheap). Wash it twice if necessary. Then get some LISTERINE (the brown, original kind) and put three capfuls on the problem area and rub gently with both hands for a couple of minutes and let it sit in. You can add some water in with the listerine as well. Wash out, and the oil should reduce significantly. If still not all gone after the first time, do it one or two more times and your problem should be solved. Hope I helped!
Avatar m tn They look whitish and when I scrape them off with a paper towel or my fingernail it is not red or bleeding underneath. It feels like skin when I scrape it out and touch it with my fingers. Does this sound like thrush? Does thrush feel like skin when touched? My mouth has been excessively dry for the past year, I have to sip water constantly and chew sugar free gum. Could it just be caused by the dry mouth? I tested negative for HIV a year ago on rapid tests.
Avatar n tn So about 2 weeks ago (after putting a cuticle out) the base of my fingernail got infected its red and swollen doesnt hurt much but when i touch it, then about a week ago i began to have these little white bumps on my finger tips they very in size but none bigger than 1/16in, they have now sped to some of my palm, they have no liquid in them they are only white and they open easly when scrached but they do not itch or hurt, my guess is i touched something im aleric to but i have never really been
Avatar m tn No apparent necrosis, but the fingernail has separated and also *appears* to be infected with fungus. She has had IV antibiotics twice as well as antibiotic and antifungal pills, and it was non-responsive to the drugs. Tested negative for MRSA. Finger hurts and is pinkish-red. It is dry with no discharge.
