Common Questions and Answers about Fingernail fungus lamisil

nail

Avatar m tn What do the lines look like and are they colored? If you have fingernail fungus the topicals don't work. You would have to take a prescription oral drug (Lamisil) for three months then it kills the nail. I just went through this with my toe nail. The nail is usually yellowish.
565779 tn?1216513164 five years ago, now I have a foot fungus and toe/fingernail fungus. I have also been finding these tiny black things, the size of a pinhead all over my skin, some are even going into my fingernails, as well as my skin. Is this another type of fungus, or do I have some strange bug inside of me? Also does anyone notice a gross odor from the nail fungus? Are people with Hep. C prone to fungi infections?
Avatar f tn I went to the doctor and was told I had nail fungus and needed Lamisil. One tablet, once a day for 3 months. They took and ran tests of my blood to test my liver and they said all tests came back normal. They went ahead and said to begin taking the medication. I'm 21 and relatively healthy. I'm afraid to take Lamisil though. I've heard the side effects are horrible. Should I be worried?
Avatar n tn Hello, For fungal infection of the penis, most cases of fungal infection respond to over-the-counter products, which contain any of several basic ingredients: miconazole, tolnaftate, terbinafine, ketaconazole and clotrimazole. You can consult a pharmacist and get any cream or lotion containing these ingredients. Avatar f tn I will mostly likely be back in to see my doctor or a dermatologist at this time. I may need to take more Lamisil (do not want this fungus to come back) and I will need to do something about this allergy rash. Thanks for your input.
Avatar n tn It seems that I went to a barber and dirty clippers have caused me to devolp a fungus, I have tried all types of shampoos, and lamisil. It seems now to be spreading through out my head. What can I do to get rid of this. I have never had anything like this before and am at my wits end! I went to my doctor and she prescribed lamisil pills and also gave me lamisil cream but it does not seem to work very well.
Avatar f tn I might be in the wrong forum as well but I was prescribed lamisil after a positive test for Onychomycosis on my toenails. I was told to take one tablet a day for 3 months. My doctor did check my liver before starting and he called to say everything was normal and to go forth with the treatment. I've heard so many bad things from hair loss, death, loss of taste and I'm so scared.
Avatar m tn I was wondering if anyone out there really has had a bad health experience with the combination of having Hep B for many years, although my Hep B has been dormant for the past 14 years and has not started to do anything to my liver as of today, and taking presciption strength Lamisil for toe nail fungus. My Dr. put me on the Lamisil for 12 weeks and says that after 6 weeks we will check my blood and liver to see if there is any change in my Hep B.
Avatar n tn I tried lamisil cream for 4 weeks with only a slight improvement and then saw my GP. He prescribed ciclopirox which I used for 5 weeks with maybe 25-50% improvement, but it would occasionally flare and come back just as strong. Went back to the GP and he suggested maybe the fungus was almost gone and that it was more inflammation than anything. To be sure, he prescribed oral ketoconazole for 2 weeks and prescription hydrocortisone.
Avatar n tn I would like to know alternative treatments besides Rx drugs (like Lamisil) for toenail fungus. Thanks!
Avatar n tn I was told by my doctor that it was tinea but i havent been responding so well to the lamisil. it itches something bad then burns. It seems to be popping up on different areas on my legs and hands.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnose with a skin fungus infection (dermamytocosis) and the dermatologist has prescribed Lamisil (terbinafine hydrochloride) very strong tablets with quite a few side effects. I would like to try natural alternatives like apple cider vinegar but could the infection spread out or perhaps can resolved by itself over time. Will I be prone to get fungus infections in the future?
Avatar m tn HI, I'm a truck driver, and about 4 or 5 months ago, I developed what I think is a fungus on my genital/leg area. It itches when it sweats mostly, and If I scratch skin will peal off. Avatar n tn Hello, It can be tinea versicolor which involves the trunk, shoulders and chest mainly. Tinea versicolor is caused by a fungus that lives in the skin of almost all adults. Factors that can cause the fungus to become more visible include high humidity and immune or hormone abnormalities.Treatment involves topical and oral antifungal medicines. Also apply topical antifungals like Lamisil or Monistat. Severe cases may need oral antifungals for which I suggest you to consult a dermatologist.
Avatar f tn It is used to treat infections caused by fungus that affect the fingernails or toenails. Lamisil oral granules are used to treat a fungal infection of scalp hair follicles in children who are at least 4 years old. It is important to take this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not take it in larger amounts or for longer than recommended.
Avatar m tn s not itchy and does not have a particular odor. I think it could be a fungus infection but I am not sure what the underlying causes would be.
2209241 tn?1339023213 It sounds like you have toenail fungus. You need to take an antifungal medicine orally (Lamisil) for 3 months and you will lose the nail(s). The natural remedies don't work to my knowledge as you have penetrate the nail and the other drugs don't do that.
Avatar n tn I already had toe nail fungus and took lamisil for 90 days, then was diagnosed with versicolor, took 2 different sets of pills for two months and used some spray, then everything was okay. Now I have red marks (versicolor) again on my stomach and I am starting to wonder if i have more fungus on my legs and arms because my hair breaks and i have pimple like things on my arms and legs (look like ingrowns) and I also am losing more hair than normal and I have a patch of hair that is missing...

Avatar n tn I remember that I was 60 days into Lamisil when the rash first appeared. I ask Doc if Lamisil could have caused the rash and he said "possibly". I am now done with my Lamisil script for a month but the rash is getting worse. It's tiny red spots that are all over my back, buttocks, legs, arms. The rash originally appeared on the base of my neck and was larger red dots. They did not itch or peel. For a month, that's all it was.
Avatar f tn You can go to the drug store, they make fungal medication/creams specifically for this issue. Lamisil is a brand for example. but there are others. Fungus spreads. So, treat it. And if unsure, go see a doctor for confirmation and guidance.
