Avatar f tn Why is my fingernail on my middle finger starting to pull away from my skin and turn white and the bottom half is pitting and peeling? What could this be?
Avatar n tn Can HIV be transmitted if semen got underneath a fingernail? In otherwords, is the tissue underneath the fingernail vulnerable to passing HIV into the blood stream?
Avatar n tn i completely agree with ibizan.. you cannot keep seeing that doctor. as soon as my gyno found out that i had HPV, let alone my moderate dysplasia, she told me every single option that i have with each level of cervical dysplasia... generally speaking, if you have mild dysplasia, they won't need to use "agressive" methods to get rid of the abnormal growths because your body should get rid of them...
Avatar m tn Do you think the virus will transfer from my hand to zipper to then underneath my fingernail? Is it possible to get underneath the fingernail from a small metal zipper?
Avatar n tn WATS CERVICAL DYSPLASIA
Avatar f tn I do not know the answer to that. Dysplasia means pre-cancerous cell changes. Cervical cancer is slow to develop and you get time to avoid it by having dysplasia cells removed. Dysplasia can be mild, moderate or advanced. Advanced requires faster attention than mild or moderate. They will test whatever is removed and you won't know for certain until that pathology is done.
Avatar f tn It may be that you did have an active HPV infection which caused some dysplasia but the virus has since been cleared - if so any remaining dysplasia would soon follow. It really is a matter of what you are comfortable with. As you likely know, if you only have mild dysplasia your body will likely be able to clear this on it's own, even severe dysplasia can sometimes clear on it's own.
Avatar m tn Does herpes whitlow cause pain under the fingernail and forearm? I've heard of the tingling and burning, I'm not feeling either but I'm feeling numbness under the fingernail and forearm? I did use the bathroom and with the same hand I pulled up my zipper and then in seconds used the underneath of my fingernail very firmly to secure it without washing my hands, very paranoid I spread the virus to my zipper then to the underneath of my fingernail.
Avatar m tn I have found articles to suggest that high-dose bisphosphonate therapy (40 mg/day for 6 months) offers a significant improvement in patients with fibrous dysplasia of the skull. Do you believe that since my fibrous dysplasia has remained static / unchanged in almost 4 years that bisphosphonates would possibly be helpful to a large degree? Also, what do you know about the risks of taking a high dose of this drug such as Fosamax?
Avatar n tn no i am not saying that!she can have dysplasia minus HPV....and u said she is negative for HPV so that is good!HPV can cause dysplasia..it is the major cause of it but not all cases.dysplasia is a result of HPV.HPV is just HPV!
Avatar n tn that you mean ASCUS (atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance). That being said smear tests are used as a screening method for dysplasia and cancer, yes; however, having an abnormal result does not necesarily mean dysplasia (or cancer). Sometimes even a yeast infection can create an abnormal result.
Avatar n tn I scratched it using my fingernails and i noticed the pimple rash had a blood (red but the blood did not went outside the body) and i checked the fingernail that i used there is no visible blood also... Questions: 1. If the technician have a dried blood in my car and my fingernail hit or touches the blood and used the same fingernail to scratch my pimple rash...Do you think this is hcv transmission? Higk Risk, Low Risk Or No Risk? Begging for your merciful answer..My anxiety is killing me.
Avatar f tn MY doctor says i have about a 7% chance of the dysplasia coming back. He says the decision is up to mine of course.I worry about my health and all my sisters have had dysplasia, and none of them got it back. But none of them had the scarring i did,and they can have regular pap tests. What do you think i shoul do?
Avatar m tn Could this be a type of fingernail material growing from the scalp? The physical consistency of this 'hair' strongly resembles that of a fingernail. Extensive searching the net has found nothing. Surely my daughter is not the only case like this. I read about keratin, but it seems the keratin in hair and nails is the same.
Avatar f tn There are some treatment for precancerous cells (dysplasia- CINI-CINII-CINII) which i am going to explain. Treatment of cervical dysplasia depends on the severity, the presence of HPV, risk factors, and patient's preference. For ASCUS and mild dysplasia (low-grade SIL/CIN I), the physician may perform HPV typing. If no virus or a low-risk strain is present, Pap smears may be repeated at 4- to 6-month intervals because ASCUS and mild dysplasia often resolve without intervention.
Avatar f tn Do you mean dysplasia? Because i have bone dysplasia. It just means that there's abnormal growth of the cells. with cervical dysplasia it is a symptom of HPV or HIV and if you have that, than i would worry. But a regular cervical dysplasia is nothing to worry about. If its mild then it usually goes away by itself, if its severe then they will remove it just in case so you dont have a risk of cancer in the future.
Avatar f tn HPV is the causitve factor for squamous dysplasia so you can ever truly be 'cured'. Most often the body can clear the active infection of the virus within 6-12 months (for some women it can take a couple of years). However because HPV has the ability to go from a state of dormancy to active it will always be important to have regular follow ups as it is when the virus is persistenly active (usually for over 2 years) that dysplasia can develop or progress. Have you ever had a colposcopy?
Avatar f tn Fingering is not a risk of HIV transmission cut with a fingernail or not.
Avatar m tn Hi, I was diagnosed with HPV with severe cervical dysplasia when I was 19 (I am now 34). My gyno followed the usual treatment (I believe it was laser surgery, I can't remember what it was called). He had a really hard time getting rid of it and I was sent to an oncologist/gynocologist where I was treated with laser surgeries, acid washes, cone biopsy until finally at 26 I had a normal pap. I have been relatively normal since.
Avatar n tn s it besides the gross description. There was NO MENTION of the word dysplasia. NONE! It is my understanding that all adenomas have low dysplasia or high, but I read in a few articles that if there is NO MENTION, then it is understood that it is low grade dysplasia, if it was high grade, it would be recorded as such. Any feedback is much appreciated...
Avatar m tn In the early 90's I had mild dysplasia, I did not have an HPV test but assume based on all the research I have done that this was caused by HPV. 8 years ago I had an HPV test as part of infertility treatment, and this came back negative, I did not have HPV at that time. I have had another occurrence of mild dysplasia, could this be caused by the original infection or is this a new infection?
Avatar m tn Does a pap smear diagnose Dysplasia? And does having Dysplasia mean that I absolutely 100% have HPV? Or do nurses assume when they see dysplasia that it is automatically HPV?
Avatar m tn Hey there, Am I at risk of any serious disease if I get a very mild scratch from some other man's fingernail? This happened to me a few days back while travelling in a train. Since then, I have been thinking about it and it has been causing me a lot of anxiety. Any help would be extremely appreciated. Thanks and regards.
