I'm a 28 year old female and I have been having swelling, stiffness and pain of my right index finger knuckle for over 2 years. It started off as a little right itchy bump on my knuckle (it kind of looked like a welt) and it felt like it was on fire. I noticed it would flare up when it would rain and there was high humidity. From there it has progressed to swelling and it is usually stiff. It has been swollen for so long now that it has started to deform my joint.

I have been experiencing swollen joints in right hand the index and middle finger are also swollen. I have also a stiff jaw and ankles are weak. I also woke up with a stiff neck. I have been tested for RA and thyroid. Gave me a shot in joint of cortizone and I had bad reactions and still swollen and red. I went to ER Monday and they gave me Vicodin for pain. Has anyone else had similar symptons and still negative results on blood work for rhmeutoid arthritis? Any help would be appreciated.

I too get finger swelling joint pain but don't ever see the swelling. My NS says it has nothing to do with the recovery of surgery but my PT says different. She said until my neck shoulder and arm muscles regain strength I will continue have this. My hands feel heavy like I an walking with weights in hand all day and feels like the fingers are gonna pop off at the joints. I look forward to PT to get relief.

Thank you for your response. The Dr. does not think the swelling is in the joints, that is why she did the MRI, to make sure that there was no deterioration in the joints. Yet, my fingers are stiff and swollen every morning and I have have other pain that will not go away. I've tried changing my diet to a "Zone" type diet and had no help there either.

Joint stiffness too. My finger joints are stiff and in pain, my jaw and head are sore, my entire spine hurts, and all the joints in my feet and ankles are sore or stiff. What could be the problems of these mysterious aches and pains?

i had this happen to me as well my finger in fact had a hairline fracture .it was hard to bend there was alot of swelling and some pain .it sounds so similar to my situation that i was compelled to write.it sounds to me like there is a good possibilty it could be fractured or broken .i would get the xray .

Then anytime after prolong sitting it is very difficullt and painul to stand up on my k nees again.Once I start moving the pain subsides .My joints are not swollen or red ,only one finger joint is painful to touch- I am very woried as what is happening with my body. I would apriciate any help,advice etc.

t get out of bed for about six months. During this time, my knee joints became swollen, painful and stiff, with some loss of muscle mass around the knees and in the legs. (I was severly depressed!) Is it posssible that being bedridden for so long caused this problem in the knees, or is this condtion arthritis? Have you seen joint swelling and pain in some bedridden patients? I'm very curious and i'm in a lot of pain.

This has happened to me since childhood and is recurrent. Recently, however, I have stiff and painful finger joints, only in the mornings, when I wake up; my urine has a strong odor and I feel very tired and lethargic. Hi, one of my symptons leading to dx was stiff joints, pain in muscles (especially legs). On tx , yes, worse BUT.....before tx my knee joints were starting to hurt, stiffen, etc. That has stopped now!! Still on tx and no more knee troubles! confusing. I am not dx'd with RA, but still have awful muscle pain during tx. Doc say's should clear up after??? When bad I take a Vicoprofen or Vicoden, limit use tho. Dr.

My eldest cat is 11 yrs and lately she has had stiff joints. I feed her dried food but her stomach can't tolerate the Senior dried food. Is there anything I might be able to give her to help her joints?

I experience pins/needles, numb finger tips and my knuckles feel very stiff and painful (esp my middle finger) .. they often get stuck when I bend them! Ive been told its carpal tunnel syndrome and that it will go once bub arrives, its due to swelling in the wrist/hands and compressing nerves. It is very unpleasant though!!

This morning the same thing only the pain is intense, my finger is swollen, along with the knuckles and it hurts in the fleshy part between the index finger and thumb as well as the index finger and the finger next to it. Few things that can be given to you for improving the movement of your finger and reducing stiffness are a) Mobilization with heating modalities (paraffin wax bath) - in this procedure, a liquid like wax is heated to an extent that it can be a bearable temperature, and then the stiff finger is dipped for a few seconds. After few such dips, passive mobilization or assisted mobilization is done by a physiotherapist.

m always tip toeing, and I always feel a strange feeling almost like numbing pains with stiff joints that have been like that for years.
