Avatar f tn Few things that can be given to you for improving the movement of your finger and reducing stiffness are a) Mobilization with heating modalities (paraffin wax bath) - in this procedure, a liquid like wax is heated to an extent that it can be a bearable temperature, and then the stiff finger is dipped for a few seconds. After few such dips, passive mobilization or assisted mobilization is done by a physiotherapist.
Avatar f tn I'm a 28 year old female and I have been having swelling, stiffness and pain of my right index finger knuckle for over 2 years. It started off as a little right itchy bump on my knuckle (it kind of looked like a welt) and it felt like it was on fire. I noticed it would flare up when it would rain and there was high humidity. From there it has progressed to swelling and it is usually stiff. It has been swollen for so long now that it has started to deform my joint.
Avatar f tn it almost looks like a blister, the skin is stretched and shinny, but i literally have no idea what it could be. the whole tip of my finger is very stiff and hurts to bend, but this has all come on very randomly, any advise would help!
Avatar n tn The swelling started spreading to my middle finger on the same hand. I went to a hand doctor, who did x-rays and an MRI. X-rays were normal, MRI showed "subcutaneous edema", which is swelling of the soft tissue in my two fingers. He ordered blood tests to test my ANA, RA, Uric Acid levels, white cell count, etc., which all came out normal. As I have been waiting to get into a rheumatologist, I have developed three hard, small lumps on my index finger on my right hand.

999891 tn?1407276076 I too get finger swelling joint pain but don't ever see the swelling. My NS says it has nothing to do with the recovery of surgery but my PT says different. She said until my neck shoulder and arm muscles regain strength I will continue have this. My hands feel heavy like I an walking with weights in hand all day and feels like the fingers are gonna pop off at the joints. I look forward to PT to get relief.
903138 tn?1266767041 3 months ago i dislocated my middle finger knuckle playing basketball and went to the ER so they could re-align it. They took xrays and said that there were no broken bones, and said to leave the splint on for 3 weeks and buddy tape it for a week. Its almost 3 months later and my finger is extremely sore and swollen. My knuckle is also a blue-ish color and unable to be fully extended and bent.
Avatar m tn thanks for the advice. I took the bandage off permanently 1 week ago, for about 5 days prior I had been leaving it off for several hours at a time. The finger is still stiff and sore. I still can't make a complete fist and there is still a small amount of swelling and bruising at the lower knuckle. The odd thing is, I could swear the fracture was closer to the upper knuckle! Is any of this normal? Should it take this long for the stiffness to ease? Thanks in advance!
Avatar m tn I punctured my finger on one of the stiff thorns at the base of a palm frond. i was hacking away at the leaves and it puncured to the bone with consierable force. the frond was dead/dusty/moldy.... not clean. the puncture was tiny. I tried to clean it with peroxide but its really just a tiny spot, impossible to penetrate. it was immediately swollen. it hurt for a few days but the pain gradually went away. The swelling however remained.
Avatar f tn I had preeclampsia with my first and second pregnancy so I know the things to watch out for, but my question is what is excessive swelling?? I woke up this morning with swollen, stiff hands and swollen feet but I'm not sure if this would be considered as excessive or not. I'm 25 wks 6 days.
Avatar m tn Also when I lay my hand flat on the table and hold down my finger by pressing below the middle knuckle i can bend my injured finger backwards manually all the may to the middle knuckle. While on the other finger I can barely bend it at all. Do you think my finger is broken?
Avatar m tn i had this happen to me as well my finger in fact had a hairline fracture .it was hard to bend there was alot of swelling and some pain .it sounds so similar to my situation that i was compelled to write.it sounds to me like there is a good possibilty it could be fractured or broken .i would get the xray .
Avatar n tn my wife has stiff swollen neck and even her shoulders look swollen but the swelling is barely visible and paining while trying to turn her head. please help, thank you.
Avatar m tn s no swelling. My wrist pops easily. The central knuckles of my index finger, middle finger and ring finger all hurt. The index finger also hurt a few days at the base, but stopped. I have a doctor's appointment on the 7th. Sorry for the repeated posts; just a little worried and the appointment seems so far away. If you were me, what you lean closer to? Arthritis or tendonitis?
Avatar n tn My daugher got hit this past summer in the hand, in the area fatty between her thumb and pointer finger. It was swelled and very stiff. Our family Dr. said said it was just inflammed. Ever since that area gets sore and will swell up when she is hitting. I was told that there is a thumb brace guard that she could wear WHILE she is batting, to protect her thumb area. Where would I find something like this? I have checked online and can't find anything.
Avatar f tn Now my fingers are stiff and swelling up and my finger joints hurt first thing in the morning. My toes feel stiff later in the day....and they look a little chubby. I have always done 1 hour of cardio EVERY day and the water beads up and I for sure sweat around my eyes. I have had difficulty swallowing for at least 6 months. Now I am coughing so hard that it makes my throat swell up and it feels like it is touching each side. So my throat swelling either from a cold or the pain meds????
Avatar f tn My hand is still slightly swelling at night and I wake up with a stiff hand. I am noticing the most pain when my hand and wrist are at rest. Could I still have a fracture somewhere and not know it.
Avatar f tn Once the initial pain passed, the area right where I hit it became bruised, with minimal swelling. I can move my pinkie finger, although it hurts if I get too adventurous. The pain seems to radiate down the side of my hand to my wrist, and my finger is tingly off and on. It feels cool as well, although I'm not moving it at my usual pace. The sensation when I move my hand/finger is more one of numbness than describable pain.
Avatar n tn Swelling in 2 toes of left foot has gone down some and is currently not painful. I have extreme swelling of pointer finger and thumb of left hand [for 3 months] to the degree that I cannot use that hand for much. I try to stretch fingers several times a day and during the night. The pain keeps me awake most of the night. For the past 3 weeks the knuckles of all fingers except the pinkies have become very stiff and painful. The pain is constant.
Avatar f tn Two years later it began to turn bright red and hurt really bad. They found that I had started to grow a second finger (or bone) underneath my my finger. The best description of it would be a bone spur. I went thru ANOTHER surgery to get the bone removed before it could really hurt me. The bone came out and measured 2 and a half inches long.
233622 tn?1279334905 I have a lot of trouble with my feet feeling very stiff after I have been sitting for a while. My legs are like that too so it is probably reasonable that my feet would have the same problem. Anyone else with MS have stiff feet? It makes getting up and going so difficult. Is there any type of treatment or medication that might help with this? I will be seeing my MS doctor in two weeks and will mention this if there is something that can help. Stiff feet is a new problem for me.
Avatar n tn I experience pins/needles, numb finger tips and my knuckles feel very stiff and painful (esp my middle finger) .. they often get stuck when I bend them! Ive been told its carpal tunnel syndrome and that it will go once bub arrives, its due to swelling in the wrist/hands and compressing nerves. It is very unpleasant though!!
