1524304 tn?1326396974 In all probability you have soft tissue injury. Take an anti-inflammatory and see. If the injury is 24 hours old apply ice wrapped in cotton cloth and if it is older, dip hand in warm water. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do consult your doctor. Take care!
Avatar f tn The pressure is painful, I have to strain pretty intensely to force out even soft stool, and I need it to heal. There is no stenosis-doc has probed with her finger-but a lot of swelling and pressure. What can I do?
2191761 tn?1338284458 If the lump is hard, it could be a bone chip. It could also be a calcium deposit from where your body is trying to heal. Calcium deposits sometimes take a very long time to go away. If the lump is soft, then there is other 'soft tissue' damage that is still healing. You could try ice or heat if it is bothersome, but if it is not improving as the days go on, you should have it checked by your doc.
Avatar n tn It is also possible that you have infection, inflammation of the knuckle joint. It can also be a soft tissue injury. An X-ray is required to decide the course of treatment. Please consult an orthopedic specialist. Meanwhile cold compress and anti-inflammatory may help control pain and swelling. Hope this helps. Take care!

402205 tn?1230481005 Well toots...I would have to say that going to the doc's office would not be a bad idea...why not go? It's probably fine, but anytime swelling results from an injury like that I would recommend going to make sure everything's ok..No need to go tothe E.R. or anything...it's just that I can't examine it from here...sorry...and I would not tape it...not unless the doc has examined it and recommends that..just not now...
Avatar n tn My index finger on my right hand has been swollen for quite a few months now. The swelling started spreading to my middle finger on the same hand. I went to a hand doctor, who did x-rays and an MRI. X-rays were normal, MRI showed "subcutaneous edema", which is swelling of the soft tissue in my two fingers. He ordered blood tests to test my ANA, RA, Uric Acid levels, white cell count, etc., which all came out normal.
Avatar f tn If the bump on your collarbone is hard then it could be a broken bone and if it is soft then it could be that you tore some soft tissue. The pain in your thumb could be a sprain and the fact that it is getting worse depends on when the injury occurred. If it happened recently then you should be icing, resting, and taking an anti-inflammatory to help control the swelling. Once the swelling is under control it shouldn't get worse unless you are still using it. Hope you get better soon.
Avatar m tn Part of your problem can be due to eczema and dermatitis causing soft tissue swelling. Regularly exercising your fingers and dipping them in warm water may help. You can also take an anti-allergic pill or an anti-inflammatory pill and see if it helps. The other possibility is rheumatoid arthritis. It can even be trigger finger where the joints lock up. Once you unlock the joint by moving your finger, the finger straightens. It can also be a tense tendon.
Avatar f tn Bear in mind that the imaging tool cannot really tell whether something is really soft tissue or not. Hence, it is something that looks like soft tissue. The list would include a number of things, from abnormal collections of normal tissue (put another way, normal tissue that is placed in an abnormal location) such as hamartomas, collections of infection (abscess or granuloma, fungal balls).
Avatar m tn I was informed that there is no fracture and it is a soft tissue damage. It should be normalized by dipping the finger in hot water 3-4 times a day. I continued for 10 days, but no recovery appeared. The doctor then suggested to go to a physiotherapist. The physiotherapist also did hold and cold water cover and also did some stretching of finger everyday. Whenever this exercise was done, it appeared there is improvement in swelling and bending.
Avatar m tn However, certain things should be check as you have a soft tissue swelling. These factors can also contribute to pain and need to be addressed. The soft tissue swelling (golf ball size) under your incision area can be a contusion (which is the expected level of inflammation post incision) or it could be a localized collection of blood (hematoma), pus (abscess) or bunching of soft tissue or muscles. All these can cause varying degree of pain. So, please get this evaluated.
Avatar m tn There is no swelling and when i manipulate with my finger all i can really feel is what feels like a channel/vein... no swelling of lymph nodes detectable. Tis just a strange scenario, where sensation of pain when touched is on the exact same place on both sides without swelling. to give an idea of the size off the affected area, it is about 1cm or 2 (under 1 inch).
Avatar m tn For example, with a bruise characterized by swelling and discoloration, blood and serum has infiltrated the soft tissue. In most instances, such infiltration will, over time, be re-absorbed and the tissue revert to its natural state. Check with one of your other doctors about this, or with the radiologist, to get their opinion of the nature of the infiltrating, biologic substances. Good luck.
Avatar m tn Sorry this does not help because another doctor thinks it is a growth or a mass in the soft tissue im thinking it might be lymphadema because what i read earlier i seem to have all the symptoms so im caling my regular doctor
Avatar n tn I am a 39 year old female & have had periodic migraines with aura since I was 13. As I got older they gradually got worse. I initially thought that I was having daily sinus headaches but was told by several doctors that these were milder version migraines, which worsen to severe, at least 2 to 3 times per month. Approx. 3 months ago, the usual headaches continue but have been aggrevated by a new type.

Avatar f tn While theoretically possible to add soft tissue to the tip of a finger (sometimes even using toe transplants), this is something that would need to be discussed with a hand specialist.

558890 tn?1215833121 A complete ophthalmologic examination is necessary. Soft tissue infections near the area may also have to be considered. If the problem persists and if the redness, eye tearing and discharge are present ,then you may need to have this assessed by your physician. An MRI scan may help as well as autoimmune conditions may need to be ruled out.
Avatar n tn Hello: Last summer I fractured my ankle "talus" I was immobilized for 8 weeks in a short leg cast non weight bearing. I then had 3 1/2 weeks of PT after the cast was removed. For the most part the ankle feels pretty good. At times if I wear tight shoes or sneakers and it presses on the inside of the leg the ankle is tender and also If I'm out in the cold for extended periods of time my ankle stiffenes up alot so much so It's difficult to walk on untill it warms up.

666921 tn?1254990618 I haven,t noticed anyone mention anything like this but was wondering if anyone has had this?? -- at the base of my neck on right side just above collar bone - there is a hollow!! [don't know the correct name] - if I hold my shoulder back there is a soft swelling in that area it isn't really noticable from just looking in the mirror with shoulder relaxed. It kinda causes a bit of tension around that area? My G.P. said she doesn't know what it is ! very reassuring !
