Avatar n tn Symptoms involve pain in the hands and arms when typing and using the mouse, and generally end up making many daily activities painful or impossible. Burning, numbness, or tingling in your palm, wrist, thumb, or fingers also are the common symptoms encountered by most patients. Common causes are a repetitive motion with your wrist like typing on a computer keyboard, using a computer mouse, playing racquetball or handball, sewing, painting, writing, or using a vibrating tool.
Avatar f tn This then presses on the nerve which then causes a pain right up to the elbow. Thumb and pointer finger are first to be affected. Often proper working style, working without bending wrist, using smooth movements to operate the mouse and key pad, and relaxing the joints of finger, wrist and arm in between helps. A wrist support or arm support too helps and you have computer chairs with support for your spine and arm.

Avatar m tn I have 3 herniated discs one which causes nerve pain - This became much worse after a car accident but it started before that I have osteoarthritis - This is directly linked to guitar playing and the fingers I use most are the ones that are most visibly affected. I also get this kind of pain with doing anything too much with a specific finger, say using my pointer finger to control my laptop mouse pad.
Avatar n tn I believed I had Carpal tunnel syndrome because when I was writing i would get a shooting pain up and down ONLY my wrist area, and when on the computer when my right hand was using the mouse and resting on the desk at the same time, my wrist hurt too much to have any pressure on it.
Avatar m tn As you are a computer programmer and likely to be using your index finger using a mouse and using a keyboard a lot, it is likely that you are experiencing repetitive injury. It is likely that there is some form of arthritic changes going on with your joint. Because you use your hands a lot for computer work, it would be a good idea to get a correct diagnosis of the problem. Are you able to use one of your other fingers for the computer programming so that you can rest the index finger?
Avatar f tn I'm a healthy 29 year old female. For the past two days I've had intense pain in my fingers and occassionally works its way into my forearm and shoulder. Usually the pain is at its worse during the night. It first starts with pins and needles then it feels like severe joint pain that gets worse. I've had this same finger hand pain before a few months back and it lasted for nearly a month then. At that time my doctor said it was trigger finger.
Avatar m tn The back of my wrist feels tight, the wrist is easy to pop (and gives relief when it has been) and the central knuckles of my index and ring fingers feel stiff (not all the time). There's no twitching, it hurts even when I'm not typing or using a mouse and there's no numbness. I can feel the muscle between my index finger's base knuckle and the wrist move when I click though, and there's a resulting, momentary twinge of pain.
584818 tn?1218287801 The funny thing is, I actually switched to using my left hand for my computer mouse about 2 months ago. I cut back my computer use compared to months ago and years past. A couple of days ago when I woke up, my right hand had pain to make a fist and numbness in the index and ring finger. It would eventually go away and be fine all day. But when I awake the next morning - same thing. This just started a couple of days ago.
Avatar n tn I have this problem, burning pain between index finger and 2nd finger. I cannot clench my fist unless I straighten index finger then I can make fist with the other three. I have never heard of this before, so if you have no answer I will have to goto.

Often proper working style, working without bending wrist, using smooth movements to operate the mouse and keypad, and relaxing the joints of finger, wrist and arm in between will help prevent carpal tunnel syndrome. Further wearing wrist support or wrist braces can further support along with strengthening exercises. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Avatar f tn Sometimes a computer mouse is to blame for hand symptoms. Resting your wrist to use it or lifting a finger to use a mouse wheel can cause problems. But it could be something like a ganglion or sebaceous cyst pressing on a nerve, I suppose, or something pressing on nerves of the spine. Get it checked.
Avatar m tn When scalene muscle is the cause of pain, the pain is referred to chest, inner lining of scapula (shoulder bone), shoulder, posterior and lateral sides of the arm right up to the thumb and index finger. Repeated clicking of mouse of computer can injure the tendon of index, cause compression of median nerve and also cause this numbness. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Take care!

Avatar n tn I managed to live my life with it and its rare when it hurts (only if i use my finger for the mouse too much). But since i am at university studying IT, and planning have a professional life where i use computers everyday. I wanted to know if there is a solution to end my problem at all, like a (steroid injection) to help reduction my inflamation that decreased over time but never disappeared.
Avatar m tn This could be carpal tunnel syndrome due to entrapment of median nerve. it is caused by prolonged use of computer or thumb and index finger as in improper position of arm and wrist can result in mouse elbow. Application of ice pack, anti-inflammatory drugs, wearing wrist braces, stretching and strengthening exercises when the pain subsides and modification of the way you click mouse goes a long way in avoiding further injury and treating the present symptoms.
Avatar m tn It can even be trigger finger where the joints lock up. Once you unlock the joint by moving your finger, the finger straightens. It can also be a tense tendon. Stretching and strengthening exercises may help. Please show this to your doctor. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
Avatar f tn Yes, many diseases can come from mouse droppings. You should clean up a mouse cage or house infestation using gloves and even a mask. I'm sure wild mice carry more diseases than pet mice.
Avatar n tn It is normal for your hand to get red and sore if you are constantly on the computer and using the mouse- therefore rubbing your hand on the desktop. You might want to invest in one of those ergonomically correct mouse pads if you are doing so much computer work- it should help alleviate the pain in your hand and can also help prevent any carpal tunnel syndrome. Hope this helps.

Avatar f tn My dad caught a mouse in one of the sticky pads the other day.It looked so helpless I deiced to help it today. When I did I spoke in a soft low voice like I would to another anime or small child.I got most of it off the pad when it decided to jump back into it so I tried again. This time however it bit me.Not enough to make me bleed but still hurt.I washed my hands immediately and stayed away from the mouse after that. Right not my finger where it bit me is numb.
