Thank God I'm not the only one. I've been experiencing this pain under my nail bed on my left thumb where the skin meets the nail. The little white 'moon' under the nail has become a bluish color - always now- but the pain is not continuous. It happens when my hands get cold or if I bump it, push even a little on it - or God forbid I get a manicure and the girl tries pushing the cuticle back! It is SO incredibly painful when it hurts.
ve been taking a lot of anti-viral drugs, doxycycline, ultram and lyrica for EBV and CFS. A few days ago I noticed blood under my finger nail (thumb). This was not due to injury. Should I be concerned? I read this condition is a symptom of both liver and heart disease. I have an appt w/ my doctor tomorrow to discuss. Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts / explainations?
once in awhile there is hint of pain in whole area around lumps.. also seems finger nail is brittle,chippy just unhealthy nail. what does this sound like? first peasize bump is petruding from side of top joint of middle finger with second flatter bump just under nail bed. both lumps seem full of water but first peasized lump has gootten harder.
The nail has hurt and is swollen (from over a year ago) and now the whole finger is turning crooked to the left and turning down. I have pain under the nail like a splinter is there and I can straigten out my nail. I recently went to an arthritis doctor and he did a SED test and everything was alright. He said it was osteo-arthritis evev when I kept telling him my finger nail was sore and I thought there was infection under the nail.
12 hours before the fingering I clipped my nail on my thumb and I cut the nail too close to the skin and noticed slight pain but I did not see blood. This morning I look carefully at my thumb and noticed some dried blood very closed to the nail area and some slight pain as well. What is my HIV risk from protected sex and fingering in this situation. Very scare and please help. And I promised no more csw for me. THANKS SO MUCH!!!
Presuming it is actually a fungus, there is a problem because it is under the nail. Outside, on the skin for instance, you would just use Vick's-Vapo-Rub (believe it or not). Getting under the nail is a problem. There are systemic anti-fungals, but my husband did not have much luck with that. He kept painting the nails and pushing stuff under (as far as he could). I think it is pretty well gone now, but it took a long, long time.
Recently, it stopped growing in size, the finger swelling and the pain both decreased significantly, but the black skin around the nail became more dark in color and VERY HARD.
I am not sure if this black hard tissue will heal without treatment as the doctor said and it is a normal thing to happen or I should revisit him.

I recently went out with a friend as we were kissing I tried to take off her bra but my finger accidentally hit or poked the metal strap so I failed to remove it. There is no pain and itch but skin under the nail and around the finger peels off. When soaking the thumb into the water, the skin turns to white. It has been for two years. In the past I soaked my hand into the dishwashing liquid without a glove. Then I noticed the skin was very dry and flaky as well as after the shower. Some fell on my finger nails as well. The skin under my nail has turned hard and a bit yellowish color. The surrounding of my nail has turned hard as well. The burn hasnt cured yet. Im worried since its already been about 3 weeks and even though the burn seems to have dried out, it still hasnt fallen apart. somedays ago i met a fight with some of the boys of the college nd after that fight one of the boys blood came under the skin of the finger nail......i dont know how.....nd that blood was visible till the end the finger nail had grown enough to cut it down.........i want ask whether this could be a hiv transmission if the boy was hiv positive......
its pitted and where the nail meets the skin underneath its become like its broken. where i can push way inside the nail on one side. here is a pic of nail. you can see where there are some small holes in the peeling skin this is where the red dots where before peeling started.

A fight broke out at school yesterday and one of the kids accidently touched my finger and blood went under the finger nail and was smeered over the upper part of the finger. I had cut my nail with a nail cutter before coming to school that day. I've got so much anxiety over this. I've never had sex or done drugs and I want to live a safe and healthy life.

He had a mishap with a machine and it ended up slicing through his index finger, under the nail. The nail was ripped off and part of the upper nail bed (in the body of the finger itself) is exposed.

After washing my hands, I found that the middle finger nail was very red in the seam of the nail, and it was still under the nail cover. There are two bleeding points, the pain is pressing, but there is no obvious bleeding. I want to ask me if there is a risk. If my wound refers to the risk of infection during the delivery. my fingertip seems dry and slightly scabby, i can barely feel anything when lightly touched, yet extreme pain after pushing with slight pressure. i also have the red dot under the skin and the pain seems to radiate around the nail part of the outside corner. i'm on a computer for work atleast 12hrs including personal pc work per day an it's not helping, which is why i'm not capitalizing words lol.
I had over-cut the nail of left index finger a day before. I fingered a CSW with that finger ( may be for 10 seconds- immediately I felt little pain and withdrawn it...continued with other fingers). During that time , there was no bleeding but thin red line was visible under the over-cut nail .

After she left a few minutes later, I washed my hands thoroughly. Being somewhat paranoid however, I took the finger nail of my left hand to clean under the finger nails I had used on her in order to clean under the nail. I did this so rigorously that I created a small bleed under the corner of one finger nail that had been using on her.
