Avatar n tn i thought it was just a jam. now it still hurts but only if i stretch it or movie alot. it is my right middle finger and it hurts around the knuckle. it hurts alittle to the right and to the left of the knuckle when i push down on it also. but there is absolutely no swelling at all. and also no difference in color or size hen my other middle finger. i was wondering whats wrong with it, and if i should do anything about it.
Avatar m tn R u alright now...how is finger stiffness??
Avatar m tn In hindsight this was a bit stupid but we live and we learn. Unfortunately I am still getting stiffness, discomfort and pain around the knuckle area of my little finger. My little finger also points in towards the rest of my hand rather than straight which is a little annoying. I have a couple of questions: a) What specifically is causing the pain stiffness and what is the best way to manage this? b) Would drastic action such as just amputating the little finger resolve the joint pain?
Avatar m tn Aside from the most nasty scar in the world, I have so much stiffness in my pinky finger at the knuckle and swelling in the entire finger. How long should the stiffness and swelling last? Will it be permanent? I started occupational therapy and they seem to think it will get better but it will take months not weeks. I am skeptical about occupational therapy since just about everything they're doing, I could do at home for free.
545343 tn?1214390730 This is not really a pain but some sort of stiffness which sometimes feels like pain. The stiffness is physically across ring finger and 4th toe (2nd starting from smallest one). While sitting for long hours, I feel irritated due to irritation at hip section so I keep on shifting my legs which relaxes me. I also feel some un-easyness in the left part of my stomach and chest which seems to be somehow connected this stiffness/pain. Please suggest if I should see a doctor.
Avatar m tn Well, without knowing the relevant clinical details or a detailed clinical evaluation it would be difficult to comment specifically on the situation. The finger stiffness is likely to have occurred due to weeks of disuse to allow healing causing tendon/ muscle stiffness. This is likely to improve itself over the next few weeks with appropriate movement/ rehabilitation therapy. Rarer causes include scar formation, growths/ masses etc.
Avatar n tn Bend and extend the finger at the joint slowly to a range of motion possible without pain. Slowly increase the range of motion. With time the stiffness will go. You can also consult a sports injury center. Other possibilities are arthritis-rheumatoid, injury, inflammation of the sac of joint, finger prick, insect bite, allergy or contact dermatitis to something, tendon injury or inflammation, clot in blood vessel, infection of the skin or pulp of the finger etc.

I would apriciate any help, advice etc.
Avatar m tn I am sorry to hear about your medical problems. If the pain and stiffness has started three years after the surgery then it is less likely to be due to the operation. The pain could be due to the screws. The other possibility is a pinched nerve in the wrist/elbow or shoulder level or even at the spine level. However, if there was a typing error and you had the surgery just 2 weeks ago, then please consult your surgeon.
Avatar f tn It has been three months since the injury and the pain is still the same. It hurts when I hold my finger and move it side to side and up and down and also when pressure is applied. It also hurts between the knuckle and the beginniing part of my finger when pressure is applied. Also it hurts on my knuckle when pressure is applied. Should I get it looked again right away? Both my middle knuckle and the knuckle on my pointer finger still looks enlarged. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn From all the pictures I’ve seen so far on Bouchard’s node it appears on both side of the finger but mine is only on one side. There is currently no pain or real stiffness at the joint so far so hopefully it stays that way.
Avatar m tn Other symptoms may include vertigo, nausea (dizziness) that you felt. Other symptoms are like neck pain and stiffness can be intermittent. It will be best that you consult a neurologist who would like to prescribe Pain killers, steroid and muscle relaxants. Other treatments could be cervical orthosis such as a soft cervical collar or stiffer neck brace to restrict neck movement. In addition, cervical traction may also be suggested by the doctor, if condition is severe. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn I ended up having to hold my finger down forcibly for a week to get its movement back. I was able to bring it back to about 90%. Shortly after I started noticing pain in my finger accompanied by random tingling and sharp shooting pains. For the most part over the past 6 years I've dealt with it (I have no insurance so I cant see a doctor). The pain comes and becomes more painful the more I use that finger. This year I got a new job that has me typing most of my day.
Avatar f tn Does anyone have Osteoarthritis in finger joints. What do you do for pain and stiffness. Also what jobs do you do, I had to quit my job of 10 years, (doctor said so) looking for a job, but not sure what to do, any ideas. Going to start physical therapy soon.
Avatar n tn And I have noticed that it is extremely hard to raise my pinky finger off the table, and once I get it off about a mm, I feel a sharp pain. Is there a way I can fix this pain, or some expercised that I can use to strengthen my finger? I also have terrible grip now.
Avatar f tn it sounds like some joint pain w wrist and fingers (compared w skin and musclular pain?), so a good dr or rheumatologist might have some clues. don't overtrain or force anything, it doesn't help. some stretching and routines that help maintain range of movement and flexibility are beneficial. just please don't pound your inflamed joints, it's damaging. if you find warm packs or cold packs help, do that.
Avatar m tn I had an enchondroma in my left ring finger last year and fractured my finger. I waited 7 weeks so it could "heal" as much as possible and then had surgery including a bone graft from my wrist to fix it. I needed pretty intense PT afterward, mostly to deal with stiffness for about 6 weeks. A year later, I still have some stiffness in the mornings in my finger but overall it's back to normal.
Avatar n tn After the cast came out, the doctor told me to go to therapy for 6 weeks/ 2 times a week to get rid of the stiffness in the finger. Now it is May 5th, 2008 and I have 2 more weeks of therapy left but still the finger is a little stiff. I can bend it but not fully and in terms of going back up it doesn't move at all. The therapist has told me that doctor's could do another surgery to loosen up the tendons but I will wait to ask a doctor until my therapy is done.
Avatar f tn Usually it starts out like a stiff neck and pain on my shouders then after a few days the stiffness goes away but everytime i turn my head to the left or raise my head upward i would feel pain along the right side of my spine. theres also a localized dull pain on my right scapular region.... kinda feels like pain is coming from under my scapula. at times when i wake up in the morning i would feel a slight numbness along the outer sides of both my arms, ring finger and my small finger....
Avatar f tn I had my pins taken out Monday from my right index finger this week, and today is Friday. I still have minimal movement and much stiffness. My finger is stuck in the position it was as when the pins were in, and I am still unable to make a fist. Also my top part of my finger is pointed more towards my pinky finger than sitting in the normal position. Is this how it it will stay, or will this get better when my knuckle swelling decreases?
Avatar m tn t been able to move that index finger for 4 weeks since the pins were still in there, as any movement in that finger caused extreme pain...but now my index finger seems to be stuck in that same position (slightly curved, as if holding a cup). I started OT the Thursday after the pins were removed, but I couldn't do half the tendon gliding exercises as I could not make a fist.
Avatar f tn i have a small fratured in my finger went to the er and they put a asmall metal thing which its removabal my question is its about a month and i cant bend my finger and it has a small bruse in the middle of the finger in the inside part would they have to brake it back in place or what kind of presisure would they dop am just so scared i havent gone to see a doctar please help me????
Avatar f tn For the problem you mentioned that your finger is pointing towards the pinky finger, there are some options like putting a brace to maintain the normal position. After a while, this brace can be removed. Again, my advise is that you see a local physiotherapist to discuss your situation, and don't try any of the above suggestions on your own.
