1189828 tn?1264598702 i was running then i tripped.. i tripped and my right middle finger got bended a bit in the joint next to the knuckles. it was dec. last year. i had it x-rayed and there was no fracture or dislocation. so i didnt do with it. but i can feel the bone that is kinda tilted to where it was bent. it hurts when it apply pressure to the sides and whenever i try apply pressure on the joint making the act of the opposite of bending.
19606750 tn?1480880764 Appears to have healed incorrectly, with knuckle bulging towards little finger, and the top of ring finger leaning towards middle finger somewhat. Finger works well enough though weaker/clumsier than normal it seems. Main motivation to fix is to make it easier for typing, and playing musical instruments (piano/guitar/violin) where I find it hampers progress in terms of agility/precision (I'm right handed, so use left hand for frets).
591866 tn?1218929027 I am 17 years old, and I play the piano. Eight years ago, I had a stroke, and it temporarily paralyzed the right side of my body. For about a month, my mom took me to a doctor once a week for "therapy." I had to touch my nose with my right-hand index finger and then touch his finger. It was difficult for a time. After about a month, we stopped doing it. I don't know why. If I do it now, it looks like I never had a stroke.
Avatar m tn I have been having wrist pain for a few months. It all started when one day I played the piano and guitar for several hours. The following morning my wrist hurt and were going numb. I had no swelling. I waited a couple days, then when I thought I was ok I lifted some weights. I realized it wasn't better. School made it impossible for my wrists to recover. I tried playing the piano a week later, but they still hurt. For months I've been trying to let them recover, but they won't.
Avatar f tn Numbness and pain in my hands be from the lyric (side effect) or Could there be another issue? Do have herniated disc with causes a lot of back pain. Only 56 years of age, very active and would like to stay that way.
Avatar m tn I have been looking up the elbow anatomy and some ulnar-nerve entrapment info. I think that the ulnar nerve is being affected because I have had some faint numbness in the forearm and tingly pinky finger, but I'm not sure how to fix the elbow. It's as if it's a bit mis-aligned, so when my elbow is bent and then I twist the forearm, I get this loud snapping sound, like a tendon is popping over a joint/bone or something.
Avatar f tn I was recently diagnosed with RSD after an injury to my wrist (fall on outstretched hand). My right arm is constantly painful (burning), cold with goosebumps, ring finger and pinky sweat like crazy, and very pale. I've begun physiotherapy, and they are using intramuscular stimulation to treat it. My ring finger and pinky are curled in so that they touch the palm of my hand, and there is significant ulnar deviation at my wrist.
Avatar m tn How do you justify enduring the pain, in order to do something you love... Is it worth the pain and even possibly further injury, to do something that you love? I am a pianist...although I am no Beethoven and can't read sheet music (I play by ear), I still do get enjoyment out of playing around on the electronic keyboard and even trying to compose from time to time. My major problem is the fact that I have arthritis in both my wrists.
Avatar n tn I completely broke the 5th metacarpal bone in my left hand causing angulation. I was put in a metacarpal brace for 6 weeks to realign the bones, of which it failed to do. In fact, it hadn't moved since my last x-ray four weeks ago. My pinky finger will not come down all the way to form a fist and is turned slightly inward.
Avatar m tn s at a place I can deal with - no real pain or numbness and tingling - just occasional pain (and more if I hit the elbow - like funny bone, b/c of the transposition). Good luck to you. I hope this puts you more at ease.
Avatar m tn Need help in directing me to specific therapy to work on residual paralysis/weakness in my left hand due to a bout of Parsonage-Turner Syndrome. My grip is weaker but improving. The specific issue I'm having is in playing the guitar, which prevents me from forming a full or partial barre chord (where the first or first and second phalanges press multiple strings against the fretboard).
Avatar m tn Not sure what field my issue is related to, but I believe there is neurology involved. I play drums and piano, at a pretty high level, and since young I have noticed a rather annoying difference between my left and right sides. It's especially bothering for drums, let me explain : I seem to be unable to develop speed with my right side (although I'm right-handed), either with the foot or the hand.
5160872 tn?1385248794 Last night driving to church the right side of my face felt like pins stuck in it and it has been doing that today as well. It is very painful! My arm last night also felt numb while playing the piano. I had to rest it and shake it... There may be nothing left of me by the time they figure out whats wrong..
1195464 tn?1279314981 After my total, abdominal hysterectomy I came out of anesthesia wiggling my hands in the air. Nurses thought I was playing air-piano, however, I think my hands were numb as I first started having trouble with my hands going numb while still in the hospital recovering from my surgery. The numbness is in my thumb and first two fingers, mostly on my right hand, but sometimes both hands.

Avatar n tn Mid September, the exact same day, I developed sausage finger (one finger, my left index finger) the same exact time I developed a hacking, soupy cough. I was put on antibiotics which seemed to cure both my soupy cough and my enlarged finger. Once I was finished with the antibiotics, both my soupy cough and my inflamed finger have returned. I've been screened for tuberculosis and lung cancer. Any thoughts would be VERY welcome.
Avatar n tn I had a giant cell tumor removed from my L index finger 25 years ago. I was 12 years old. I have not had any problems with my hand since. The doctor who removed the tumor told my mother said it could come back anywhere at any time. When I was 19 I started growing a lump on my head that started growing in the same manner as on my finger. Started with a sharp pain then the lump appeared. Pain when it grows then not hurting at all. I'm concerned it is the same thing. I am having it removed.
484033 tn?1208516117 I will be recieving oxaliplatin and I have read that it always causes some toe and finger numbness. Does anyone know if this can affect the use of the computer keyboard? I am also an artist and piano player. Will holding a small paintbrush or playing the keys be a problem?
Avatar f tn On Monday of last week as I was teaching a piano lesson, I hit my right elbow very hard on the edge of the piano. I felt a sharp stabbing pain in my elbow and as I reached over to rub the spot I felt a soft, spongy, round object begin to move inside my skin as my hand rubbed the painful area. The object seemed to have come (in my mind) from the tip of my elbow but I really don't know what it was.
Avatar m tn Afterwards I was pretty sore and stiff all over, but was fine after a few days, except for my wrist; I have had a small amount of pain in my wrist at the bottom of my thumb, where it meets the wrist on the palm side which I thought would eventually go away, but is still there now. It doesn't hurt much except when I move it in particular ways, e.g., if I bend my wrist forward the whole way, and even then the pain is not too much.
Avatar m tn During my piano practices, I probably turned my left wrist to far too quickly and tore some healing part in the wrist. And now every time I turn my left wrist to the far left (not just side to side but also when in the far left position and then moving up and down) there seems to be a pop/click (more of a pop though). There is absolutely NO PAIN, but it's very annoying as it interrupts the smooth progression when playing piano. Is this an issue that I need to see a doctor for?
Avatar f tn My 10 year old son, has been for a few years had a need to constantly rub his fingers together. It started as nail bitting which got really bad and he was bitting all the way down to the tips of his fingers, I did everything from putting tabasco sause on his fingers to bandaids to showing him pictures of deformities and told him that's what happens when you bite your fingernails and fingers (they get infected and you end up looking like this) he didn't stop but did slow down a bit.
Avatar m tn There is no swelling or anything in the rest of my fingers, just the pointer and the middle finger. What worries me is that the pain and swelling has gotten worse each night. The only thing I did differently was that I played volleyball for the first time in a while on Monday night. I play at a competitive level so im passing balls that are coming at me pretty fast and hitting or "spiking" balls a lot too. I've played my whole life and this has never happened to me before.
