Avatar f tn I'm a healthy 29 year old female. For the past two days I've had intense pain in my fingers and occassionally works its way into my forearm and shoulder. Usually the pain is at its worse during the night. It first starts with pins and needles then it feels like severe joint pain that gets worse. I've had this same finger hand pain before a few months back and it lasted for nearly a month then. At that time my doctor said it was trigger finger.
Avatar f tn This then presses on the nerve which then causes a pain right up to the elbow. Thumb and pointer finger are first to be affected. Often proper working style, working without bending wrist, using smooth movements to operate the mouse and key pad, and relaxing the joints of finger, wrist and arm in between helps. A wrist support or arm support too helps and you have computer chairs with support for your spine and arm.
Avatar n tn Of late, I have noticed mild pain in my right hand and wrist especially when on the computer. The pain is more neuralgic type and not necessarily bone or muscle pain. I feel it is also finger specific, especially all my fingers other than my thumb and pinkie all of which I use to move the cursor. I am afraid I may have carpal tunnel. Please do suggest what to do now.

In your case the problem may have been there for a long time, but repeated clicking of the mouse could have triggered the pain now.
Avatar n tn I have this problem, burning pain between index finger and 2nd finger. I cannot clench my fist unless I straighten index finger then I can make fist with the other three. I have never heard of this before, so if you have no answer I will have to goto.

Avatar m tn When scalene muscle is the cause of pain, the pain is referred to chest, inner lining of scapula (shoulder bone), shoulder, posterior and lateral sides of the arm right up to the thumb and index finger. Repeated clicking of mouse of computer can injure the tendon of index, cause compression of median nerve and also cause this numbness. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Take care!
Avatar m tn I have 3 herniated discs one which causes nerve pain - This became much worse after a car accident but it started before that I have osteoarthritis - This is directly linked to guitar playing and the fingers I use most are the ones that are most visibly affected. I also get this kind of pain with doing anything too much with a specific finger, say using my pointer finger to control my laptop mouse pad.
Avatar m tn This could be carpal tunnel syndrome due to entrapment of median nerve. it is caused by prolonged use of computer or thumb and index finger as in improper position of arm and wrist can result in mouse elbow. Application of ice pack, anti-inflammatory drugs, wearing wrist braces, stretching and strengthening exercises when the pain subsides and modification of the way you click mouse goes a long way in avoiding further injury and treating the present symptoms.
Avatar m tn It can even be trigger finger where the joints lock up. Once you unlock the joint by moving your finger, the finger straightens. It can also be a tense tendon. Stretching and strengthening exercises may help. Please show this to your doctor. Take care! Avatar m tn The pain is located at the back center of my wrist instead of the front. It's more tight/dull than pain. It's like something is pulling on my ringer/index finger making the knuckles stiff.
Avatar n tn My problem is that my index finger falls asleep when I write or even scroll with a computer mouse. Even when I exercise the index finger starts tingling. Its really weird this has never happened to me before. Can you help? I'm not sure if its serious enough to see a doctor. Thanks for your help in advance.
Avatar f tn My dad caught a mouse in one of the sticky pads the other day.It looked so helpless I deiced to help it today. When I did I spoke in a soft low voice like I would to another anime or small child.I got most of it off the pad when it decided to jump back into it so I tried again. This time however it bit me.Not enough to make me bleed but still hurt.I washed my hands immediately and stayed away from the mouse after that. Right not my finger where it bit me is numb.
584818 tn?1218287801 The funny thing is, I actually switched to using my left hand for my computer mouse about 2 months ago. I cut back my computer use compared to months ago and years past. A couple of days ago when I woke up, my right hand had pain to make a fist and numbness in the index and ring finger. It would eventually go away and be fine all day. But when I awake the next morning - same thing. This just started a couple of days ago.
Avatar f tn Sometimes a computer mouse is to blame for hand symptoms. Resting your wrist to use it or lifting a finger to use a mouse wheel can cause problems. But it could be something like a ganglion or sebaceous cyst pressing on a nerve, I suppose, or something pressing on nerves of the spine. Get it checked.
Avatar m tn She thought she might have got a little something but the finger was still extremely painful with a very sharp pain and it was hugely swollen. So she bandaged it up and I was put on a course of anti biotics for about a week. I soaked it in hot water each day and finished the course. A big scab formed on the tip and all the skin peeled off, eventually the swelling went down and the pain got a lot better and the scab fell off.
Avatar n tn The index finger of my left hand twitches on occassion. i have a bit of tingling in my left palm as well. What could be the reason for this twitch? Thanks, This discussion is related to Finger twitching and parkinsons, MS, neurological disorder, cardiovascular.
Avatar n tn ve been thinking I have some sort of nerve damage and possibly anxiety related issues. Lately my index finger has began to twitch or tremor (not sure of the right term) it will move in a left and right direction for a period of time. It also seems to occasionally move forwards as well but rarely. 90% of the time this occurs when I'm sitting at my computer desk. I admit I have always had terrible posture in general.
Avatar f tn Hi Doni...I never use the little finger pad on my laptop...way to hard...a mouse is just easier. If you have a USB compatible mouse from your other computer you should be able to plug it into the laptop.
Avatar f tn My ANA is positive, which from what I read only happens with an auto immune disease? My right finger and pinky are swollen at the base of the finger, the others aren’t so bad. I have splints as they suspected carpal tunnel but I don’t really think the symptoms match, my hands don’t hurt either. What I do have however is pain in my arms.
Avatar m tn I also have this burning sensation in my thumb and index finger when using I phone. Definately not muscular. I am left handed. I notice that my thum gets very hot and tingly so I looked how I held it it is because I usually put my thumb over the speaker. When I don't put it ther I dont get the burning. And my finger is actually starting to go refs and sort of semi blister (this is the finger I type with...what is going on??
Avatar m tn Now today my whole hands hurts like deep inside I feel this painful sharp pain and I think my finger is still a bit swollen. I don’t feel the pain all the time only when I get my hands into some positions. My right hand feels kind of weak and the muscles feel dry. What this could be? I have anxiety but I don’t think that is causing the pain. I’m scared I might have MS. I’m 19 by the way. Any ideas what this could be?
Avatar f tn Often proper working style, working without bending wrist, using smooth movements to operate the mouse and keypad, and relaxing the joints of finger, wrist and arm in between will help prevent carpal tunnel syndrome. Further wearing wrist support or wrist braces can further support along with strengthening exercises. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
