Avatar n tn I have a pain that begins a few inches above my elbow( I think it might be the lower, inner part of my tricep) and shoots down into my index finger. The pain in my finger is like needles. Its been about 2 days now. Any ideas on what it might be? thanks, M This discussion is related to Shooting pain in arm.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with MS in August of this year and this finger pain was one of the earliest symptoms after I fainted in Feb (but had no idea that was anything serious) - I went to a rheumatologist for the finger pain and he couldn't find anything but did think I had carpal tunnel and the nerve test for that is what started me on the path to a MS diagnosis.
Avatar m tn As you are a computer programmer and likely to be using your index finger using a mouse and using a keyboard a lot, it is likely that you are experiencing repetitive injury. It is likely that there is some form of arthritic changes going on with your joint. Because you use your hands a lot for computer work, it would be a good idea to get a correct diagnosis of the problem. Are you able to use one of your other fingers for the computer programming so that you can rest the index finger?
Avatar n tn Of late, I have noticed mild pain in my right hand and wrist especially when on the computer. The pain is more neuralgic type and not necessarily bone or muscle pain. I feel it is also finger specific, especially all my fingers other than my thumb and pinkie all of which I use to move the cursor. I am afraid I may have carpal tunnel. Please do suggest what to do now.
Avatar f tn I'm a healthy 29 year old female. For the past two days I've had intense pain in my fingers and occassionally works its way into my forearm and shoulder. Usually the pain is at its worse during the night. It first starts with pins and needles then it feels like severe joint pain that gets worse. I've had this same finger hand pain before a few months back and it lasted for nearly a month then. At that time my doctor said it was trigger finger.
Avatar f tn Carpel Tunnel is unlikely. It sounds to me from what you describe as a pinched nerve or even maybe just something out of place. Have a quick X-ray done and if the doctor says you're fine, check with your local Chiropractor. Could be a really quick fix.
Avatar f tn If the pain is gone, then just keep an eye on it. If you notice any more pain or any swelling, I would see a doctor. It is possible that it could be tendonitis, but since it was only a one time thing and you are not in constant pain, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
1625195 tn?1332178662 But my middle finger, index finger and thumb are definitely numb and slightly swollen. My index finger, though, is the only finger experiencing some pain along with the numbness and swelling. Things to note: I did not bang my elbow on anything. I have rested it while sitting at my computer and have been bending it and actively using my left arm where my left arm has had to bend fast and flex out with more than ten pounds (lifting and putting away groceries mostly).
Avatar n tn regularly massaging your hand and fingers; and flexing your hand and fingers from time to time, towards improving it's flexibility and blood circulation.
Avatar n tn I have this problem, burning pain between index finger and 2nd finger. I cannot clench my fist unless I straighten index finger then I can make fist with the other three. I have never heard of this before, so if you have no answer I will have to goto.
Avatar m tn You have not mentioned your age. Try some healthy fruits like Banana, for instant source or Na, K, and Mg salts required for healthy bones, Blue berries, and for joints cracking, use of sprouted pulses, especially, overnight soaked Vigna mungo, white lentil, and Gram helps in recovering very fast from such problems, use of Ladies finger in regular diet with regular light and stretching exercises.
Avatar n tn A couple of days ago I was sitting at my computer when I experienced a sharp pain in my wrist. It's right where the hand ends at the pinky and the pain comes and goes quite frequently. I'm pretty sure its not carpal tunnel because I don't experience any numbness in my index finger or thumb but i'm thinking it might be tendonitis. Anybody have any ideas on what it is and how to releave the pain?
772218 tn?1249131067 If it is carpel then the pain should be in the thumb, index finger and middle finger area of your hand. If it is the outside two fingers of your hand then it would suggest the ulnar nerve. Considering you experience it in arm, feet, legs; I would suggest talking to your doctor and let them lead you in the right direction for testing and diagnosis.
Avatar m tn I am at my computer and all of a sudden my middle right finger started shaking crazily. It never did that again. As far as I know I am in excellant health for 65. I take 10 mg Lipator and allergy over the counter remedys, I do have sleep apthea but am on CPAP therapy. I have a complete physical every year with a six month follow up. Blood pressure has always been excellant. I have been very tired the last couple of days, but attributed it to the Clariton and Benedryl. Any thoughts?
Avatar n tn Except for the entire head twitching, possibly this comes from computer use. If you are right-handed, you can get something similar to carpal-tunnel syndrome from being on the keyboard a lot, that doesn't hit your wrists but instead the upper shoulder and neck. Do you have any arm support when you're sitting and working online?
Avatar m tn It can even be trigger finger where the joints lock up. Once you unlock the joint by moving your finger, the finger straightens. It can also be a tense tendon. Stretching and strengthening exercises may help. Please show this to your doctor. Take care! Avatar n tn When I was 7 or 8 years old I had surgery on my ring finger for trigger finger. I am 27 now and in the past year I have noticed that the same finger is becoming stiff. Today it caused me pain all day and its difficult for me to even type with it. Its stiff and kind of wants to naturally bend, but there is no clicking or popping. Is my trigger finger coming back or could this just be some type of arthritis? Has this happend to anyone else who has had trigger finger?
Avatar n tn I believed I had Carpal tunnel syndrome because when I was writing i would get a shooting pain up and down ONLY my wrist area, and when on the computer when my right hand was using the mouse and resting on the desk at the same time, my wrist hurt too much to have any pressure on it.
Avatar m tn I had hooked up with a couple girls days prior, one was protected intercourse, and the other was just finger stimulation of her by me for a short period. I did not have any other symptoms, headache, fever, itching, or pain. Any advice you could give would be appreciated.
706118 tn?1228815486 This morning I noticed along with the slight pins and needles feeling there is a pain in my palm between my ring finger and little finger, radiating up inner arm and around the outside where elbow is and up to my shoulder. A collegue suggested it is carpal tunnel syndrome but wouldn't the pain stop at the wrist? I'm thinking that it is a trapped nerve in my shoulder. I think I know what caused it: I tend to lean on my left hand (resting on chair) when working on my computer.
721589 tn?1230675423 I call it my hurricane Ike injury because I got it from being on the computer non-stop that weekend (I grew up down there.) My suggestion is that you get to a doctor. This has gone on quite awhile and instead of getting better, a new symptom is emerging. Please make an appointment and let us know what you find out.
Avatar n tn I am a 45yr old white female that is having severe pain in "MCP" joints; mainly on middle, ring, little finger for both hands and on my left hand the thumb. Also, my hands fall asleep when i am sleeping that has caused me to wake up. Also, I have be awoken by both of my ring fingers spasmed closed, which was very painful. This started about 1 month ago. No new medication or change of habits have occurred. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia December '06.
Avatar m tn When scalene muscle is the cause of pain, the pain is referred to chest, inner lining of scapula (shoulder bone), shoulder, posterior and lateral sides of the arm right up to the thumb and index finger. Repeated clicking of mouse of computer can injure the tendon of index, cause compression of median nerve and also cause this numbness. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Take care!
