Common Questions and Answers about Finger pain and swelling

finger

Avatar n tn ve also been waking up with pain in this finger. It feels slighty warm and I can see a very faint, small, light red mark under the skin of the side of the fingertip. I don't recall injuring or over-using my hand or fingers recently. Thanks.
Avatar m tn The injury can lead to nerve damage and/or a local swelling involving the nerve. The localized swelling could be due to tendinitis or it could be a nerve tumor. The nature of the swelling has to be found out. If the lump involves the nerve, it should be carefully removed surgically. You will also need physical therapy for a fully functional index finger.
Avatar f tn They did an ultrasound and found no clots. She has always has swelling and extreme pain in the right wrist as well as the arm and shoulder. Do you think the Chiari is causing the swelling or could it be the bulding discs causing her pain and swelling? She also suffers from such severe leg and hip pain as well as severe headaches. We recently went to see a genetic doc in Los Angeles and she has referred us on to a Neuro surgeon for further evaluation.
Avatar m tn Go for an Orthopaedician examination and confirm the diagnosis and you would need rest, strapping of that finger and anti inflammatory drugs to cure your problem. Take care!

1024532 tn?1380058352 Both ankles are swollen, right hand 3 fingers are swollen and 2 joints, now left hand is red and painful on verge of swelling. My jaw pain, neck and shoulders are now painful. Really hope I can get in to Rheumatologist very soon. Only taking Vicogin for pain. Any more advise would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn It again was remoulded and although it was slighlty better, the swelling and pain only was relieved once it was off. As a result I stopped wearing the splint and only used tape. I've had GP's look my hand, and I've had an ultrasound, x-ray and two MRI's. The ultrasound and xray showed signs of rupture, and the final MRI confirmed this, however by this stage it showed thickening which I'm led to believe means the tear is repairing.
Avatar f tn The next day she noticed swelling in her finger which persisted for a couple of days. After that the swelling in her finger receded, but her hand became very weak and she began experiencing pain up her arm (including her neck (left side) the pain and weakness has not become any better or worse, but she is unable to use her left hand. The doctor put her on antibiotics (in case it is inflammation due to the sliver,) but she is not convinced that it is inflammation as there is not heat or redness.
Avatar n tn I had an encounter with a massage girl at my hotel some months ago. She probed my anus with her finger and spit directly on my anus for lube. She then gave me a handjob, again with saliva as lube, spitting directly on the head of my penis. I went and had an OraSure finger stick test at 25 days and 44 days, both were negative. Now it's been 8 weeks and I'm having some lymph node pain (and some swelling, maybe) in my right groin. Was this a risky exposure?
Avatar m tn You could have some kind of tendon issues or something maybe. If it stays this way, and using normal home treatments for swelling and pain don't help...then get it looked at. I wouldn't think it is broken, but it could be sprained or aggravated for some other reason. Have you tried ice, heat, otc NSAIDs or anything to see if it helps? I really hope your hand stops hurting soon.
Avatar f tn When i was 11 a girl broke my right index finger at school and no one believed me when I said it was broken. So obviously it wasn't splinted or even buddy tapped. In the eight grade my mom took me to a doctor that told her that my finger did break and that the bone healed eight degrees off. After six months of trying to buddy tape it and splint it, the bone only moved two degrees. The doctor recommended surgery to pin and straighten out the bone and my mom decided on getting me the surgery.
Avatar f tn Keep your hand rested and elevated, use a bandage to help lightly to support the hand and arm and have it elevated by using a triangular bandage made into a sling. I presume that you have been given gentle exercised to do with your fingers and hand. Best wishes.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosised with MS several years ago - I''ve developed a strange symptom the last 3 days where my just the tops of my index, middle and ring fingers are in excuriating pain...no swelling, no redness - nothing....just pain...I feel I'm on the verge of a relapse - where my legs and face are getting painful, etc., but not full fledge yet. Could this be attributed to my MS ?
Avatar f tn Swelling went down after several days, then it came back with a vengence with severe swelling and lots of pain but this time only in the fingertip. The pressure was so intense that I tried to drain it, I know I shouldn't have. Nothing would come out. The pain was extreme and I did hot salt water soaks several times a day which was worse than any pain I have ever experienced!
Avatar m tn I think I jammed my finger yesterday. I was tucking in my shirt and heard a pop, and then felt sharp pain in my index finger. Looking at it I noticed the top knuckle is bent in the direction it should bend at about a 45 deg. angle, but it will not straighten. It stays bent at 45 deg. even if I try to straighten out my finger. There isn't a lot of pain. It was numb last night and is still not 100%. The only pain and swelling are actually on the middle knuckle. What should I do?
Avatar m tn However, you likely fractured (broke) your finger, and that should be treated by a professional to reduce the risk of arthritis and future range of motion issues. Xrays should be taken to evaluate the bones. In the meantime, elevate your hand above heart level to help get the swelling down. If you can't get an acceptable appointment with an orthopaedic doctor, go to your family doctor.
Avatar m tn or i feel tension on it if i make a fist, no visible swelling and dosent look red or anything.
Avatar m tn Also, with surgical swelling it helps to take Chymoral Forte tablets to reduce pain and swelling, but you should see a doctor or pharmacist to consider if you need it and if so, the right dosage.
Avatar n tn I am having some knuckle pain on my right hand on my middle finger, however i do not remember hurting my hand at all, there is no swelling and i can keep it in the straight position however when i bend it the pain comes. any suggestions?
Avatar m tn There was no pain on BM but swelling and pain an hour or so afterwards and this swelling continues for the rest of the day. Probiotics has helped the inside but the outside is still very aggravated. It is never normal but is much worse when sitting and walking, much better after sleeping. A colonoscopy revealed nothing. Steroidal creams do not seem to help. Over the last few days there is a blue swelling around my anus that comes and goes.
