finger

Avatar n tn i was diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome last jan 20, and i had it released just this october 18, but why is it that i still having wrist and finger pain, after my carpal tunnel surgey.
Avatar f tn I have had carpal tunnel for 5 years and cant afford the surgery. I wear a wrist brace on mywrists when i sleep BUT it needs to have metal bars in the brace to keep your wrist straight. It works wonders. No pain meds work :( massaging your wrist helps too.
Avatar f tn When I just touch very gently, it feels like fiberglass or hundreds of metal splinters or something is in there. My neuro has me on neurontin, 400mg, and I am having carpal tunnel surgery on one hand. The pain is not controlled. What is it and what can I do for relief?
Avatar m tn It could be carpal or it could be something relating to the surgery you had years ago. Either way, pain is an indicator that something is wrong. You need to have your hand/wrist/arm checked by a doctor.
Avatar n tn 18th for those very symptoms. I had carpal tunnel and ulna nerve release sugeries. In 2005 I had arthoscopy surgery on my left shoulder due to spurs and my right shoulder in 2006. My reg Dr. sent me for a nerve test forget the name EMT?? not sure. Was diagnoised with the carpal tunnel and ulna nerve thing. Have insisions in hand and elbow( haven't seen yet) More annoying than painful but can lead to more serious problems.
Avatar n tn Hi There can be several causes for numbness of the index finger such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Peripheral Neuropathy, Multiple Sclerosis, Peripheral Vascular Disease, Frostbite, Raynaud's Phenomenon and vasculitis. Carpal tunnel syndrome is a common source of hand numbness and pain. It is due to the increased pressure on the median nerve that enters the hand through the carpal tunnel.
Avatar f tn You were probably hypo after your surgery, and carpal tunnel syndrome is a symptom of hypothyroidism. Try keeping your wrists slightly extended whenever possible, and don't let them flex . There are wrist braces available at drugstores that will keep your wrist from flexing during the night if that's a problem.
Avatar f tn I just had carpel tunnel surgery and cubital tunnel suergery . Cubital tunnel is the cause of your whole arm to go to sleep along with your ring and baby finger. carpel tunnel is the thumb and pointer finger and middle finger. after both surgeries i am so much better just don't wait to see a Dr. it does not get better on its own and will get worse if you ignor it.
1175033 tn?1492201228 I was told yrs ago I had both carpal and tarsal tunnel and had surgery for tarsal tunnel...only to find out yrs later my issues were from the chiari. I had other testing, but not a NCS at the time, it was to be a new way to determine carpal and tarsal tunnel, but failed . Stacey, it also sounds like u may have a connective tissue condition, ehlers-danlos since u said ur wrist moves out of joint.....that shifting may be contributing to ur CTS.
Avatar f tn Could it be carpal tunnel? Walmarts has a brace to wear. My daughter has one and it helps her especially at night.
Avatar m tn Carpal Tunnel . . . Had it a few years back. If you can change the way you work with your hands, it will go away on it's own. If changing your work habits are not feesible, surgery can correct the problem. It depends on how bad it bothers you. I did not have the surgery.
Avatar n tn Does anyone know what could be causing this. Ive read you can get carpal tunnel while being pregnant but I though carpal tunnel affected your wrists more.
Avatar m tn It can be due to nerve compression which can be due to carpal tunnel syndrome. This occurs due increased pressure on the nerve secondary to hereditary, hypothyroidism, obesity etc. The other possibilities are diabetes, vitamin B5 and B12 deficiency and fibromyalgia. You need to undergo evaluation like thyroid status, blood sugar, CSF analysis and certain serological tests.
Avatar f tn Your clinical presentation sounds like carpal tunnel syndrome. This manifests as pain and paresthesias in the distribution of the median nerve, which includes the thumb, index, and middle fingers. Carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms usually occur while holding an object or gripping a steering wheel for extended periods of time. They also tend to occur at night and may wake you during the night, or you may notice the numbness when you wake up in the morning.
708040 tn?1229090185 I cant remember what its called but he moved a nerve from under my elbow to the top. So he thought the wrist pain was from that and did a release carpal tunnel surgery. Well my wrist still pops and hurts now on the outside of it. I dont loose feeling its just weak and hard to do anything with. I have been wearing a brace that i was given when i had the carpal tunnel surgery but it does not seem to be working. I will give him a call tomorrow and see what he thinks.
Avatar m tn The ulnar nerve is located on the outer section of the wrist, outside of the carpal tunnel. As carpal tunnel syndrome occurs due to compression of the median nerve (directly or indirectly) by way of the carpal ligament, it would not affect the fingers on the outside of the hand. That said, it is this writer's opinion that issues with the carpal tunnel are unlikely.
721589 tn?1230675423 It sounds like you might have carpal tunnel or tennis elbow going on. How long has this been going on? Have you tried resting your elbows, using ice or heat for relief? Does anything help? Is it worse after certain activities?
Avatar f tn Hi, I had Carpal tunnel surgery in Oct. 07 and my numbness is gone, but I still get pain around the scar and up my forearm. I do know that the palm of the hand pain is normal. That will go away. My doctor told me that the pain is from scar tissue. He sent me to physical therapy (which hurt A LOT). It's somewhat better, but I still get some pain. I have to say I am a bit disappointed. I don't really want to go through this again, so I am not getting my left hand done.
Avatar m tn U had carpal tunnel show up in ur right hand, the same hand u had surgery in over a decade ago. Degenerative discs don't arnt always symptommatic. Emg studies from my experience are pretty precise.
736040 tn?1257436457 Could carpal tunnel cause alot of joint pain in all of my fingers too? I was in immense pain last night. This morning I woke up with tingling in my right hand...which was also painful.
Avatar n tn I get alot of pain when this accures in my pointing finger. It starts in the knukle of my poniter finger and then the burning sensation starts. It does this about a few times in the day. When I go to use that finger it also starts. What could be causing this?
Avatar m tn I've just had carpal tunnel release surgery performed on my right hand and am wondering how long it takes most cases to feel relief from the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. In all my research I've read that it can take days, weeks or even months. Just wondering if anyone can help shed some light on this.
Avatar n tn First of all, I apologize if this is in the wrong forum. It seems you have to be a doctor to even figure out the correct place to post ;) Anyways, I was complaining to a friend of wrist pain and they kind of freaked me out. They told me that it's probably carpal tunnel, and they knew someone who had it, and their wrist would spasm and make it look like there was something moving under the skin. They said I'd probably need a brace and surgery as I got older.
