Avatar n tn Thanks Brandywinne To geminigirl1963 , the old nail already from 1 week dropped and now the new nail is only cover the half of the finger and it is like it will never grow as it show like my other nails , meaning i am afraid that the process is already finished without letting the new nail grow to full.
Avatar f tn I am 18 ...I didn't have a single line or wrinkle on my finger. I shifted to another city and suddenly after a month my hand developed lots of wrinkles and dark deep lines on fingers. Also horizontal lines appeared on neck. Please help .
Avatar n tn The most common causes are bacterial or fungal infections which enters the skin around the nail that has been damaged by trauma, such as nail biting, finger sucking, dishwashing, or chemical irritants. The yellow-green color, indicates that a collection of pus has formed under the skin (called an abscess). If this is the case it may require an incision and drainage. Warm soaks in a mixture of 50% warm water and 50% liquid antibacterial soap 3-4 times daily for about 15 minutes.
Avatar f tn my nail has the same length of my nail from my uninjured hand, except that it slightly curves. It doesn't really curve completely *over* the finger, but it does curve. The main part that is missing is the fleshy bit behind the nail: my actual fingertip. There is basically no fingertip. When I type, for example, the only part that touches (and can touch) the keys is my nail.
Avatar f tn s started to bleeding when i got the cut by my finger nail , i dont know how long red and dark spot like blood stay in my finger nail , its same no risk?
Avatar n tn two days ago i slammed my middle finger in the door and instantly my nail started turning black. now the tip of my finger is swollen and the nail is still black. i dont think its broken because i can still bend it.
Avatar n tn My finger nail was crushed and halfway down the nail bed, the nail is torn and slightly poking into the cuticle. The nail is still attached to my skin at the top of the nail and in the bed at the bottom. This happened last night and my finger is slightly numb, swollen, and there is a lot of what looks like discharge (oily?). It’s been lightly bleeding. I can move my finger and curl it slightly with some pain. Do I need to go to urgent care or can this be taken care of at home?
Avatar m tn Unfortunately, if these cells are destroyed the nail will not re-grow. From your symptoms it looks like superficial burn of the finger nail which should soon regrow. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar f tn I have a very annoying callus or growth on my right hand ring finger just next to the nail bed it grows to form a hard and rough chunk of yellowish skin and eventually annoys me so much that I remove it either by biting or using nail scissors! When it's the rough skin it doesn't really cause me pain but when I remove a lot of it it it tends to feel rough but soft and starts to feel swollen and sore. It doesn't matter how many times I cut it away it just keeps growing back!
Avatar m tn Can the hiv vaginal fluid or blood infect my exposured cut and sore nail bed (no nail to protect) finger Best regards J
Avatar m tn He had a mishap with a machine and it ended up slicing through his index finger, under the nail. The nail was ripped off and part of the upper nail bed (in the body of the finger itself) is exposed. He put the nail back into place, however the nail bed (?) is still exposed. Should he go to a doctor and get stitches for the injury? See photo: [IMG]http://i51.tinypic.com/2nbd2k7.
Avatar f tn He said it was osteo-arthritis evev when I kept telling him my finger nail was sore and I thought there was infection under the nail. It has gotten worse and now the nail is turning blue around the cuticle and I cannot straighten out the finger. What should I do or what do you think is wrong. It ALL started with the nail problem.
Avatar f tn Hello, The symptoms are suggestive of fungal infection of the finger as well as nail. In onychomycosis(nail fungal infection) nail plate can have a thickened, yellow, or cloudy appearance. The nails can become rough and crumbly, or can separate from the nail bed. There is usually no pain or other bodily symptoms, unless the disease is severe. To prevent it wear gloves while working on people having fungal nail infections and do not share hand towels with them.
Avatar m tn hey um my i was bitting my finger nail and then it kinda came off, and now it wont grow normal like its not connected to the nail bed, a quick google search led me here with the conclusion on "onycholysis" my question is can it be fixed? images http://i45.tinypic.com/r8h4ow.jpg http://i50.tinypic.com/2zew490.

Avatar f tn The middle finger lines are thicker and blurred, and the 2 toes, 2 little toes and index finger have thicker pigmentation than other nails. I biopsed a nail with not as much pigmentation as the ones mentioned above (my ring finger nail) .It was clear , Im 16 snd i had these from childhood (dont remember when they appeared). im also darlk skinned. Is there a need for a biopsy to check the blurred and wider pigmented nail?
Avatar m tn Hi, A fight broke out at school yesterday and one of the kids accidently touched my finger and blood went under the finger nail and was smeered over the upper part of the finger. I had cut my nail with a nail cutter before coming to school that day. I've got so much anxiety over this. I've never had sex or done drugs and I want to live a safe and healthy life.
Avatar f tn Hi i have been suffering from weak finger nails all my life and lately i decided to go to a nail technician to apply gel nails in order to have more support for my original nails.. However, after that the gel nails fell off my original nails became chipped off, very weak and worst than before the gel nails. Any suggestion please? Any products that can make my nails better?
Avatar m tn I do but only 1 nail - my left ring finger!
Avatar m tn He ran some test of the nail and it came back negative for fungus. It appear to be spreading to other finger nials (so far 3 finger nails). He prescribed some cream to reduce the thickness and it appears to be working, although, keeps speading. It is now starting to showing up in her toe nails (4 toes). Any answers on what this might be and any advise on what test or other doctor I can see to pinpoint a diagnosis?
Avatar f tn For the last six years, I’ve had this odd disruption of nail keratin production that started on my right pointer finger. It looks like pitted lateral lines across the nail, but not along the length of the nail. The nail bed on the anterior edge has slightly thickened and recedes over time, too. Over time, the putting has come and gone, and the nail seems to be really hard and brittle. The symptoms spread to my left hand, but only the first finger, a year or two later. Same appearance.
Avatar n tn As you have asked if it could be in ingrowing nail, I presume that it is on the edge of the finger nail. If that is the case, sometimes we get "back friends", little bits of dry skin and when they are pulled off an infection can occur. Sometimes can just happen. You will need an antibiotic cream to apply to that part of the finger. Your doctor will decide whether an antibiotic cream will be OK, or whether you need a course of antibiotics.
