Avatar n tn I think Caryopteris has offered you good suggestions. This is probably due to the shape of your nail and or finger at the site of the in-growth. The best place to begin is with your PCP. If he/she is unable to treat this or a referral may be necessary. You certainly don't have to tolerate this uncomfortable situation... there are solutions. I wish you well and hope you will share with us the outcome.

Avatar f tn it stretched the size of a finger nail, from the cutical to the end of the skin on that finger b4 the nail grows out to make it longer.. is that meaning im ovulating?
Avatar f tn I have had a large chunk of dry skin around the edge of my thumb for a few years now, it’s now changed the shape of my nail (it’s now become wavy) and it’s painful to the touch. I’ve thought it was a wart however I’ve used at home wart remover quite a lot and it feels like I’m just putting myself through this pain for no results. It looks gross, it hurts if it’s touched, it splits and bleeds a lot.
Avatar n tn Thanks Brandywinne To geminigirl1963 , the old nail already from 1 week dropped and now the new nail is only cover the half of the finger and it is like it will never grow as it show like my other nails , meaning i am afraid that the process is already finished without letting the new nail grow to full.
Avatar n tn The most common causes are bacterial or fungal infections which enters the skin around the nail that has been damaged by trauma, such as nail biting, finger sucking, dishwashing, or chemical irritants. The yellow-green color, indicates that a collection of pus has formed under the skin (called an abscess). If this is the case it may require an incision and drainage. Warm soaks in a mixture of 50% warm water and 50% liquid antibacterial soap 3-4 times daily for about 15 minutes.
Avatar n tn In other words if you took your middle finger pressed the nail against your skin and it made an indentation, that is what the size of the lesion is. I am not sexually active, could I have scratched myself and since they are in warm moist area that gets no air they got iritated and will not heal. They cause pain on washing or drying but otherwise not noticible.
Avatar f tn my nail has the same length of my nail from my uninjured hand, except that it slightly curves. It doesn't really curve completely *over* the finger, but it does curve. The main part that is missing is the fleshy bit behind the nail: my actual fingertip. There is basically no fingertip. When I type, for example, the only part that touches (and can touch) the keys is my nail.
Avatar f tn s started to bleeding when i got the cut by my finger nail , i dont know how long red and dark spot like blood stay in my finger nail , its same no risk?
Avatar n tn two days ago i slammed my middle finger in the door and instantly my nail started turning black. now the tip of my finger is swollen and the nail is still black. i dont think its broken because i can still bend it.
Avatar n tn My finger nail was crushed and halfway down the nail bed, the nail is torn and slightly poking into the cuticle. The nail is still attached to my skin at the top of the nail and in the bed at the bottom. This happened last night and my finger is slightly numb, swollen, and there is a lot of what looks like discharge (oily?). It’s been lightly bleeding. I can move my finger and curl it slightly with some pain. Do I need to go to urgent care or can this be taken care of at home?
Avatar m tn Unfortunately, if these cells are destroyed the nail will not re-grow. From your symptoms it looks like superficial burn of the finger nail which should soon regrow. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar f tn I have a very annoying callus or growth on my right hand ring finger just next to the nail bed it grows to form a hard and rough chunk of yellowish skin and eventually annoys me so much that I remove it either by biting or using nail scissors! When it's the rough skin it doesn't really cause me pain but when I remove a lot of it it it tends to feel rough but soft and starts to feel swollen and sore. It doesn't matter how many times I cut it away it just keeps growing back!
Avatar m tn Can the hiv vaginal fluid or blood infect my exposured cut and sore nail bed (no nail to protect) finger Best regards J
Avatar m tn He had a mishap with a machine and it ended up slicing through his index finger, under the nail. The nail was ripped off and part of the upper nail bed (in the body of the finger itself) is exposed. He put the nail back into place, however the nail bed (?) is still exposed. Should he go to a doctor and get stitches for the injury? See photo: [IMG]http://i51.tinypic.com/2nbd2k7.
Avatar f tn He said it was osteo-arthritis evev when I kept telling him my finger nail was sore and I thought there was infection under the nail. It has gotten worse and now the nail is turning blue around the cuticle and I cannot straighten out the finger. What should I do or what do you think is wrong. It ALL started with the nail problem.
1468545 tn?1296601775 I also realized I can take my finger nail to my forearm and not too hard make a shape or letter and it welts up within 5 minutes and looks like I was branded by a freaking scolding hot iron and stamped the letter into my arm. I can run my finger over and feel it welted up and its very easy to notice the letter or shape I had made without much pressure at all. Before detoxing you would have had to smack my arm pretty freaking hard with a bamboo stick or something to get this kind of result.
Avatar f tn Hello, The symptoms are suggestive of fungal infection of the finger as well as nail. In onychomycosis(nail fungal infection) nail plate can have a thickened, yellow, or cloudy appearance. The nails can become rough and crumbly, or can separate from the nail bed. There is usually no pain or other bodily symptoms, unless the disease is severe. To prevent it wear gloves while working on people having fungal nail infections and do not share hand towels with them.
Avatar m tn hey um my i was bitting my finger nail and then it kinda came off, and now it wont grow normal like its not connected to the nail bed, a quick google search led me here with the conclusion on "onycholysis" my question is can it be fixed? images http://i45.tinypic.com/r8h4ow.jpg http://i50.tinypic.com/2zew490.

Avatar f tn The middle finger lines are thicker and blurred, and the 2 toes, 2 little toes and index finger have thicker pigmentation than other nails. I biopsed a nail with not as much pigmentation as the ones mentioned above (my ring finger nail) .It was clear , Im 16 snd i had these from childhood (dont remember when they appeared). im also darlk skinned. Is there a need for a biopsy to check the blurred and wider pigmented nail?
Avatar m tn Hi, A fight broke out at school yesterday and one of the kids accidently touched my finger and blood went under the finger nail and was smeered over the upper part of the finger. I had cut my nail with a nail cutter before coming to school that day. I've got so much anxiety over this. I've never had sex or done drugs and I want to live a safe and healthy life.
