Avatar m tn As for now, I was told Ill only be able to bend the top joint and the bottom joint after everything has healed. I appreciate any help with this matter!!!
Avatar n tn I had LRTI (ligament reconstruction tendon interposition) surgery on Nov. 2, 07. I had profound arthritis in the right basal thumb joint. Almost 3 months later, I still have a lot of pain especially if I accidently bump it. I cannot bend the joint. I went through therapy and have done therapy at home on a consistent basis. I can turn the key in the car ignition but that is about the extent of use. I can't lift anything requiring my wrist or finger to bend.
Avatar f tn Muscle strengthening is critical not only to recover muscle mass lost due to surgery, but also to improve stability of the joint as increased muscle strength reduces stress on the joint ligaments. Some degree of activity modification is required in recovery of patient’s with ACL reconstruction. Hope this helps. Take care.
Avatar f tn What can be reason to reduce flexion of knee joint after ACL reconstruction surgery even after post operative physiotherapy, draft was taken from hamstring .
Avatar f tn Anyway, my left thumb, mainly the MCP joint and where the ucl runs has hurt for a few months now. I have injured the area before, and been to an orthopaedic surgeon and ha e been told its OK, even though all i had taken was an xray. So I have injured it playing lacrosse and having it bend like it would bend in a skiers thumb injury. After the most recent injury in November 2011, my doctor gave me a splint which I wore for about a month from direction.
182884 tn?1259312906 If the ligament injury is not treated or it is long term or grade III then it gives rise to instability of the knee joint. In long run this leads to osteoarthritis. Ligament reconstruction or repair of ligament will depend on the technique adapted and there are chances in your case that the healing may take time as considering your age. Discuss with your operating surgeon. Take care!
Avatar f tn 2 months ago I had PCL Reconstruction surgery . Last week I noticed that my knee would pop every time I bend it . Sometimes I doesn't bother me but other is hurts & I can't walk further the a couple of feet because I have to pop it . Do y'all know what it is ? Or what I should do ?
Avatar f tn This is likely to occur due to injury and instability of some of the major supports of the knee joint, while reconstruction of the ligaments may just be possible in a few cases. You could try using a knee brace for additional support and avoiding exercise. It would be best to discuss the situation, the management plan and the expected, prognosis in detail with your treating orthopedician. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar f tn During ACL problems or during any of the ligament problems at the knee joint you sure have stiffness at the ankle joint due to restriction of movements. Ice packs at the ankle joint will also decrease the pain and inflammation. I would suggest you to take intermittent pain killers and also do some exercises at the ankle joint.
Avatar m tn MRI scan revealed that it was an ACL tear this time. So I got the ACL reconstruction done with the doctor using my hamstring as part of the process. To make things worse again, I broke my ACL again after 2 years. The doctors are saying that this this may not be very common but at the same time it is not too uncommon as well. Professional sportsmen break their ACL almost every season (though I doubt this). Is it just coincidence or something else may be causing this to happen so frequently.
Avatar n tn I am 6 month post ACL reconstruction. I also tore my MCL, had large bone bruising and the meniscus was torn (only trimmed, not sewn during surgery). My knee is stiff through the entire range of motion and I cannont achieve greater than 140 degrees of flexion (I'm at 159 degrees at the other knee). I have had two cortisone injections which have not resulted in any additoinal flexion. Dr. says 140 degrees is "functional" and when rating my knee it gets an "A".
Avatar f tn ve been having minor pain in the smallest joint on my fourth finger on my right hand. Because I work seven days a week during the school year, I never saw the doctor. But it started getting worse. It hurts, if my fist is closed, to bump the knuckle from above. It also hurts to stretch my fingers out (laying flat is okay, but if I try to stretch them at all, it hurts).
Avatar f tn All of a sudden the piece of skin in between my thumb and finger has become stiff. I don't think it would be trigger finger but i might be wrong. It won't go either. What can I do? It's hard to stretch my thumb away from the hand and spread my fingers without it hurting.

Avatar m tn m a house painter and recently brought my hand down onto the sharp point of one of my painting tools. It cut into the side if my rt hand middle finger, middle joint (between the knuckle and the lower joint) It bled a bit and swelled up of course. That was over two weeks ago. I still have noticable swelling in that joint, especially on the rt side, and considerable pain. The rest of my hand hurts lately, probably from compensating for the lack of use of the middle finger. Any ideas?
Avatar m tn I'm 28 and I have joint pain in my finger joints and I feel it in my wrists sometimes too. And in the digits of my feet (I think). I have no RF in my blood and the doctor said just take Ibuprofen. I am slightly over weight because of bulimia. I've had gluten sensitivity problems (makes me sluggish and hungry). AND labyrinthitus in the past months. No thyroid problems. Not diabetic. Feeling it might be Fibromyalgia ? I'm lost.
Avatar m tn I am a police officer 7 months from ACl reconstruction surgery with cadaver ligament. Everything was going great until month 5 when I started to slowly jog for very short distances (half mile increment to 1.5 mile). I felt severe medial pain in the tibia (surgery entrance area). I stopped running and decreased all other activity and ice more frequently. I could walk again w/o pain 2 weeks later.
Avatar f tn The causes of hip lock and popping could be many including subluxation of hip due to shallow hip socket, acetabular labrum tear, systemic arthritis like psoriasis, other arthritis or bony spurs, or structural abnormality in the joint. You need to consult an orthopaedician surgeon to investigate in detail and an Xray of the affected hip joint. Certain conditions could be managed with injections, arthroscopic repair and reconstruction. Hope this helps. Take care.
Avatar m tn There are many surgical alternatives for either repair or reconstruction of the proximal tib/fib joint. What is more important thant the procedure chosen, is the expertise of the surgeon doing it, and his experience with the particular procedure. In other words, you pick the surgeon, let him pick the procedure. You should inquire as to his experience with this repair, it is not a common operation, and not all orthopedists have done a lot of them.
1427077 tn?1282913207 I have a lump on the top joint of my index finger which has been there for about 2 months now. Sometimes its sore but now always & its starting to get bigger. Is it worth getting it checked out?
Avatar n tn When there is a capsular injury to a joint in finger, it is best to give the RICE treatment for a few days such as rest, ice application, compression bandage (you can strap the injured finger with the neighboring finger) and elevation (keep hands elevated on a pillow at bed time). You can also take an anti-inflammatory pain killer. Once the injury settles down and there is less pain you have to start physiotherapy.
Avatar n tn During the arthroscopy the surgeon shaved off the remaining stump, which had been lodged in the joint and locked it in a bent position. Also the back of the knee cap had to be shaved as there was also damage to that. I have been doing lots of physiotherapy exercises given this last week to get the knee bending. At present I can only manage 50 degrees of bend, which isn't easy. It feels like it will never go any further.
Avatar f tn any amount of swelling in a small joint such as a finger joint can cause quite a bit of discomfort. It sounds like you "jammed" the joint(s). It can take a long time to resolve. Like 6-9 months. You could try soaking it in hot water to loosen things up and try to pull and put tension on the finger to loosen up the joint. Pull the finger slowly, steadily, and gently straight out. I have found this can help loosen it up and relieve some pressure in the joint.
Avatar n tn You could have injured interphalangeal joint of your finger. The multiple joint involvement could also be due to infection or due to reactive arthritis. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
