I still have noticable swelling in that joint, especially on the rt side, and considerable pain. The rest of my hand hurts lately, probably from compensating for the lack of use of the middle finger. Any ideas? Based upon the info and illustrations I have seen on the WWW it looks like its in the area of a ligament. Thanks for any response.
or i feel tension on it if i make a fist, no visible swelling and dosent look red or anything.
Take an OTC anti-inflammatory pain killer, and something to subside the swelling. Dip hand in alternate warm and cool water, starting and ending in warm water. If this does not help you overcome pain and swelling over next 2-3 days, then please go to the ER and get this examined. An-X-ray should ideally be done as soon as possible. Take care!
When i was 11 a girl broke my right index finger at school and no one believed me when I said it was broken. So obviously it wasn't splinted or even buddy tapped. In the eight grade my mom took me to a doctor that told her that my finger did break and that the bone healed eight degrees off. After six months of trying to buddy tape it and splint it, the bone only moved two degrees. The doctor recommended surgery to pin and straighten out the bone and my mom decided on getting me the surgery.
Anyone else with FM have swelling in their hands in the morning along with severe joint pain?
I was diagnosed with FM in 2006. Just recently I've started having a lot of swelling in my hands along with severe pain in the joints of my fingers and wrists as well as my hips, knees, etc. In the summer my hands would swell but go down but I can't even wear my engagement rings now and the only time that has happened is when I've been been pregnant.
Did they take an xray? If so, what did they say about it?
Is the swollen joint in your dominant hand? My mother has trouble with that joint from a lifetime of sewing, so I'm wondering if it's a repetitive stress injury. Pain and swelling in a single joint isn't always typical of RA, which is autoimmune, but very typical of OA, which is caused by wear-and-tear or injury.
There are a number of possible reasons for this to happen, though really only a doctor can diagnose you. I would look into taking glucosamine pills for now to help with joint pain and see if it helps at all. I'd make another doctor's appointment to get your hand looked at and see what they say. It could be from a genetic condition, from trauma, or from a malformation in growth, among some other possible reasons. I hope you can get some answers soon.
First it started swelling on my index finger, with a couple of visible red dots under the skin, and then it started on my ring finger, but the swelling was different, it got swollen at one point beyond the big joint of the finger and another swelling at the smaller joint of the finger. This time the swelling was hard to the touch. Like two red dots.
And then my little finger started swelling too, but this one was different also.
I stubbed my finger playing with my dog. My pip joint on my pointer finger is in slights pain when I apply pressure or bend it to a certain extent. There is no swelling, redness, or bruising. It does feels stiffer than usual but isn’t in pain if I hold it still. I’m wondering if this is something I need to get checked out or will it heal on it’s own.
specifically, the two finger joints of the pinky, the top joint of the ring finger, the central joint of the middle finger and sometimes the knuckle and central joint of the index finger. My thumb's central joint can be popped but causes no pain or tightness.
Pressing my hand flat on a surface and forcing it to remain there causes tightness at the wrist and I can feel what can only be described as a 'spring effect' at the knuckles when I release.
t bad and the dull pain comes and goes. my finger (middle finger first joint) is still painful ( maybe a 2 on a scale to 10).
Here's the kicker. I just found out my wife (42rs old) has been feeling the same thing in her left shoulder and left hand with some soreness for about two months now. Same spot on the left shoulder, however her pain is on the back side of her left hand near her knuckles.
I had my annual physical back in December 2008. My CBC is fine.
m told I will have to have joint replacement due to extensive damage to my knuckles and joints. The pain and swelling are horrible and I can not move nor feel my ring finger still. Is this normal for tendon damage being repaired? If I would of known this would be so painful I never would of gone through with surgery.
