Avatar n tn Hello Doctor, I am a 58 years woman who recently experiece finger join pain and stiffness and ankle stiffness in the early morning. I went to see my pcp and have blood test done. The results showed negative RF, CRP and low ESR 13 but high ANA 1:1280 titer. He later referred me to see an rheumatologist. More test was done. The results were negative results for RF 7 (< 14) CRP <0.2 (0.0-0.9) antiCCP < 16 (<20) DNA double stranded < 1 (< 4) sjogren's ab <1.
Avatar n tn Bend and extend the finger at the joint slowly to a range of motion possible without pain. Slowly increase the range of motion. With time the stiffness will go. You can also consult a sports injury center. Other possibilities are arthritis-rheumatoid, injury, inflammation of the sac of joint, finger prick, insect bite, allergy or contact dermatitis to something, tendon injury or inflammation, clot in blood vessel, infection of the skin or pulp of the finger etc.
Avatar f tn You could try soaking it in hot water to loosen things up and try to pull and put tension on the finger to loosen up the joint. Pull the finger slowly, steadily, and gently straight out. I have found this can help loosen it up and relieve some pressure in the joint.
Avatar n tn NOW BOTHH ARMA AND HANDS ARE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEN AND THE JOINTS SWELL UP AND I AM IN PAIN ALL DAY AND I HAVE TROUBLE WRITTING. WHAT COULD THIS BE.
Avatar m tn In hindsight this was a bit stupid but we live and we learn. Unfortunately I am still getting stiffness, discomfort and pain around the knuckle area of my little finger. My little finger also points in towards the rest of my hand rather than straight which is a little annoying. I have a couple of questions: a) What specifically is causing the pain stiffness and what is the best way to manage this? b) Would drastic action such as just amputating the little finger resolve the joint pain?
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, I just discover a hard lump on my finger joint yesterday and I went to my nurse practitioner at college to get it looked at as soon as possible. They told me it might be a Ganglion Cyst but she did say so herself she wasn’t an expert in Orthopedics. I just wanted to post here to get more opinions on the matter. From all the pictures I’ve seen so far on Bouchard’s node it appears on both side of the finger but mine is only on one side.
1116556 tn?1345115906 m confused about this pinky joint pain that came out of no where, overnight, and feels painful and bruised. Has anyone else experienced this or something similar? I understand carpotunnel doesnt effect the pinky... and my pinky feels really cold and slightly numb. I've taken advil this am, and hoping it will be gone before 24hrs, but plan to call the dr (of course) if not. I'm trying to find other instances of it related to ms... any thoughts?
Avatar f tn i have had these issues and i think it has something to do with the way you sleep. i had elbow pain the other day i thought i was going to die it hurt so bad. my heart goes out to those with arthritis because joints aching really hurts....i use my body pillow to sleep now and i wake up feeling much better. Due jan 26 btw so we are right around the same time.
Avatar n tn All of a sudden, I have experienced joint pain and stiffness. I found out that topamax can lead to these side effects. however, I have gradually gone off the topamax and have quit taking it for approximately 4 - 5 days. Today I am still stiff (shoulders, knee, wrist and ankles) and my ankles are swollen. Do you think this is still a side effect of Topamax in my system?
Avatar m tn i had 2 pins put into my index finger at the PIP joint. the pins were in for 4 weeks and taken out on 1/10//11 and i've been going to a hand therapist and trying to stretch the finger, but i've still been unable to fully extend the finger or make a fist. please advise, thanks!
666921 tn?1254990618 I too seize up if I am confined (such as on a plane), and this is in addition to the joint pain. The pain can be sharp, esp. in my ankles it feels like there are large spikes going through them sometimes in the morning, and rotating my feet even slightly is terribly painful. I blame a lot of this on inflammation, and try to exercise regularly and stretch a lot to keep it in check. I need to be wary of hot showers, as the heat can cause me problems.
371473 tn?1198810190 I am 36 year old female. I have joint pain in both my hands and feet. I also feel tendon and surrounding tissues inflammation around joints. I am experiencing major stiffness in some of my joints in the morning - e.g right hand middle finger middle joint but not left one as much. My feet hurt especially after walking for longer than half an hour. Sometimes pain is worse when I walk and somtimes when I am resting. I am taking mobic and narcotics for pain which only sometimes help.
Avatar n tn Took anti inflammatory tablet that night with dinner and next morning everything back to normal with only a little bit of joint pain. As anti inflammatory has worn off - back to sore joint and swollen hand and fingers (not ridiculously swollen but tight when clenching fist). Can move joint but is noticeably sore. Is this arthritis or have i just pulled a tendon in this finger? Have not injured it and just woke up with the sore finger. No noticeable redness or anything else.
Avatar n tn its not an issue of pain, it just stops and springs back up. i can bend the tip and the middle joint of my pinky. just not the one attached to the knuckle joint. its my dominant hand that is broken. im a career musician and artist. i cannot play guitar and cannot paint and hence cannot work/tour. im really scared that its going to remain locked like this and ill never go back to those things again. my doctor has not been helpful at all.
Avatar f tn it sounds like some joint pain w wrist and fingers (compared w skin and musclular pain?), so a good dr or rheumatologist might have some clues. don't overtrain or force anything, it doesn't help. some stretching and routines that help maintain range of movement and flexibility are beneficial. just please don't pound your inflamed joints, it's damaging. if you find warm packs or cold packs help, do that.
535882 tn?1396576685 i have had thyroid removed due to suspicion of cancer. currently my levels came back high or hyper. I'm having a lot of joint pain stiffness and achiness, could this also be RA ? I'm on Armour thyroid replacement med now. dose was recently reduced 3 weeks ago. I'm wondering if the achiness and joint stiffness, clicking are from that or could it be something else? thanks for info.
Avatar n tn What's the cause of pains in the wrist and fingers? Also stiffness on flexion and extension? How can this be treated?
Avatar m tn I am sorry to hear about your medical problems. If the pain and stiffness has started three years after the surgery then it is less likely to be due to the operation. The pain could be due to the screws. The other possibility is a pinched nerve in the wrist/elbow or shoulder level or even at the spine level. However, if there was a typing error and you had the surgery just 2 weeks ago, then please consult your surgeon.
Avatar n tn Come mornining, pain and stiffness again until its used. The area is not red, hot. Can fully flex and straighten. Would say very slightly swollen compared to other hand. I'm thinking hot/cold compresses? Is it possible for an infection to be in the joint when there is no redness or warmness visible? Now at day 27 after *****. Possible diagnosis?
476246 tn?1418870914 but for you to be having swelling, joint pain and inflammation and warmth to the joints, combined with stiffness, doesn't sound good, I'm sorry to say :(
Avatar m tn You sound like you are progressing very well. It can take up to 6 weeks to decrease stiffness and pain. If these symptoms persist I would see a hand specialist.
Avatar f tn My wife has been suffering from joint pain and a rash. The rash will come and go daily on different parts of her body. If the rash is close to a joint, it will cause severe pain. We have had all types of test, all come back normal. Have went to three different Doctors, they make her feel like there is nothing wrong with her. She is crying alot now, and talking about not wanting to go on with life. It is putting a big stress on are family. I do not know what else to do.
Avatar f tn I'm a 28 year old female and I have been having swelling, stiffness and pain of my right index finger knuckle for over 2 years. It started off as a little right itchy bump on my knuckle (it kind of looked like a welt) and it felt like it was on fire. I noticed it would flare up when it would rain and there was high humidity. From there it has progressed to swelling and it is usually stiff. It has been swollen for so long now that it has started to deform my joint.
Avatar n tn Could you please read the post I just entered and let me know the outcome of your story/finger? Did you ever get another opinion, and/or have a 2nd surgery? And, your post didn't say whether the MD left the pin IN your finger, or if you had it removed. If the pin is still in, that would account for the stiffness/immobility. Here's my story/post: http://www.medhelp.
